Sorry for the shortness of this chapter. The next chapter should a little bit longer. Hope you enjoy!
Anakin, Obi-wan, and Ahsoka raced down the Senate hallways, making their way to the Chancellor's office. Anakin could feel his slimy presence and knew he was only a few floors away from gutting him like the snake he is.
They all rounded the corner, only to stop in their tracks. Anakin felt Ahsoka nearly run into him as she barely had time to stop.
"He is still using these guys." Anakin glared at the army of battle droids in front of them.
"Freeze Jedi!" One of the droids said. "Drop your weapons."
"I knew it was odd we entered so easily." Ahsoka shook her head.
"No worries. This should be easy." Anakin ignited his lightsaber.
"That's what I'm worried about." Obi-wan said as Ahsoka also ignited her lightsabers.
"I said drop them!" The droid yelled as Obi-wan ignited his lightsaber knowing there was going to be no way around this.
Anakin ran to the droids blocking every blast that came his way. He jumped and slashed down at a few droids up front. He looked over as Ahsoka ran past him both her blade ignited and slashing and cutting at the droids as well.
Anakin lifted his hand sending some droids flying towards the wall as he blocked a few oncoming attacks.
"This isn't doing anything. More of them just keep on coming!" Obi-wan yelled blocking attacks.
"Destroyers up ahead!" Ahsoka yelled as they both looked over and along with more battle droids a few destroyed were rolling to them, before stopping with their shields ignited.
All three of them started to back up blocking attacks, until they rounded the corner. They ran down the hallway hoping to lose them.
"What's the plan now?" Ahsoka said.
"We need to find another way upstairs." Obi-wan said looking around seeing blaster starting fly by them. "And quick."
"I have an idea." Anakin stopped running and turned around facing the oncoming droids. He ignited his lightsaber and blocked every attack that came at him.
"Anakin! What are you doing? Clearly this didn't work the last time!" Obi-wan yelled blocking blasts not sure what he was planning.
"Jump!" Anakin yelled.
"Jump! What do you mean ju-" Obi-wan started to say, before seeing Anakin was already gone.
"Master, look!" Ahsoka said seeing Anakin managed to take every blast that was aimed at him and send them to the ceiling above them creating a hole just big enough for them to jump through.
Obi-wan was shocked but had no time to process it fully. He watched Ahsoka jump up through the hole and he followed.
Obi-wan looked around and even though he still heard the blast from down below, this floor was clear for the time being.
"Took you long enough." Anakin smirked.
Obi-wan shook his head. "Come on. We need to hurry, before more droids or something worse comes."
They ran down the hallway, thankful not to run into any more droids.
Anakin was growing inpatient, either of them were running fast enough and he wanted to kill Palpatine before something else stopped them.
"Hurry up! We are close I can feel him!" Anakin yelled tightening his hold on his lightsaber.
"Anakin! Stop! Your feeling are clouding your judgement. We need to think for a second." Obi-wan yelled fearing for the young man.
"There is no time!" Anakin yelled growing annoyed.
Obi-wan suddenly stopped and held his hand out to stop Ahsoka. They both looked around them and saw they were surrounded by a ray shield.
"Anakin! Wait!" Ahsoka yelled seeing Anakin didn't notice yet.
Anakin stopped and grunted seeing what happened. He walked closer to them, trying to see a way out of this.
"How did this happen? We are smarter than this." Ahsoka frustrating asked looking around for an escape.
"It's a trap. He is trying to separate us from you." Obi-wan looked at Anakin. "This is all part of his plan."
Anakin looked around seeing no way out for them.
"Okay we just need to calm down and try to figure out a plan rationally." Obi-wan said.
"No." Anakin softly said.
"No? What do you mean no?" Obi-wan asked.
"We don't have time. I won't let him escape this time. You know we won't have another chance at this." Anakin said.
"Anakin. Wait you can't do this without us. Don't you remember Mustafar?" Ahsoka shouted at him.
"If I'm this so called chosen one like everyone says I am, I can do this myself." Anakin made up his mind and continued down the hallway.
"Anakin!" Ahsoka yelled.
"Anakin! Wait! Don't do this!" Obi-wan yelled as Anakin rounded the corner.
"Master we need to find a way out." Ahsoka frantically looked around.
"There is no way out." Obi-wan huffed defeatedly. "We need to wait till the droids or the clones or whoever comes and gets up."
"But Anakin?! We can't let him do this on his own." Ahsoka shouted.
"There is nothing more we can do. He made his choice, let's just hope it was the right one." Obi-wan looked ahead at where Anakin ran off too.
He hoped for the sake of all of them, his reckless move wasn't going to be their defeat.
Anakin ran down the hallway, his anger rising with each step. Finally he made it to Palpatine's office door and he clenched his jaw. He was here. He could fill him.
Anakin kicked open the door as two of his guard ran to him with their pikes pointed at him. Anakin lifted his hand instantly breaking their necks. He stepped over their bodies and saw Palpatine standing at the window with his back turned to him.
He could hear a slight laugh coming from him. He ignited his lightsaber making his way to him.
"I've been expecting you, Lord Vader." Palpatine smirked looking down at the battle below him. "It would seem your friends or your army aren't as skilled as you. Maybe I should have helped trained them. Could have made them stronger? Maybe then they would stand a chance."
"Your time is done. There will be no more of your manipulations." Anakin growled at him.
"Haven't we down this before, Anakin." He turned around giving him that friendly look he gave him so long ago when he freed him from one slave life only to trap him into another. "I'm pretty sure the outcome with turn out the same as before, don't you think? I mean I suppose we could slice off another hand? Maybe a leg? A head?"
"Not this time. I'm more trained and have no distractions this time to stop me from killing you." Anakin said as his anger raised.
Palpatine nodded his head. "Right distractions. The lovely Padme and your future child. It's a shame they aren't here."
"Keep her name out of your mouth!" Anakin yelled lifting his hand sending Palpatine flying back.
Palpatine laughed feeling his body held against the wall. "What do you think Padme would say seeing this scene? Seeing the monster you truly are? Do you think she would accept you? Do you think she would finally see the darkness in you? I feel the darkness in you. A Jedi wouldn't harm so many unarmed people. You are still a Sith. You still use the power and skills I taught you." Palpatine mocked him.
"Shut up! You know nothing about me." Anakin huffed hearing Palpatine small laughter.
"I know you more than you think boy. I'm not blinded by what you are pretending to me. You have everyone else fooled, but not me." Palpatine smirked
"No. You're wrong!" Anakin shouted feeling the rage in his eyes. He was going to kill him. He was finally going to end him for all the suffering he put him through. All the suffering he put everyone through.
"Why don't we see what the lovely Padme has to say seeing his scene huh?" Palpatine said.
Anakin yelled and raised his lightsaber up high, when suddenly he heard a grunt and the thud of something or someone falling to the ground.
He turned around and his eyes grew large seeing his beloved on the ground with two blaster pointed at her head by two clones. He saw Ackbarr standing off behind and realized he was the spy after all. He should have known.
"No." He softly said picturing every dream he had of this scenario, picturing he life body so many times, picturing her gasp as she takes her last breathe.
"Anakin! Stop kill him." Padme grunted trying to break free from her restraints.
Anakin looked back over at Palpatine as he smirked at him. His lightsaber was so close to killing him. Just a few more inches and it would slice right through him and he could end all of this.
"You can kill me. Just know they are under very strict orders to kill her the moment that lightsaber strikes my body." Palpatine said.
"Anakin! No! You can't let him escape! Forget about me!" Padme pleaded with him.
Anakin looked back at her and back at Palpatine. Forget about her? Forget about their baby? How could he possibly do that? He couldn't. They were his everything.
He looked at his lightsaber and slowly backed up dropping it.
Palpatine laughed. "Too predictable and weak." He lifted his hands and sent force lightening stronger than he ever has at Anakin sending him flying back into the wall.
"Anakin!" Padme yelled seeing his unmoving body. "No." She whispered.
Suddenly the ray shield around Obi-wan and Ahsoka shut down around them.
"Finally!" Ahsoka running down the hall only to be stopped by a row of destroyers.
She turned back around and more destroyers and more battle droids coming from every way. She ignited her lightsaber to fight.
"Ahsoka." Obi-wan softly said.
She opened her mouth to say something, but sighed, lowering her weapons as the droids walked over to them.
She glared at the one that touched her arm and tried to fight against it only to look at Obi-wan and sigh. She felt the cuffs on her wrist and sighed knowing they failed. She just hoped Anakin was managing to kill that slimy snake and this mission wasn't for nothing.
