High School Sweetheart
Yuusuke's Ending
Two days before graduation, Ema stood nervously in front of Meiji University. She stared anxiously at the posters, trying to find her number.
She freaks out and closes her eyes: "No! I-I can't! I'm too nervous! I can't look!"
Suddenly, she hears Yuusuke shout: "I FOUND IT! I FOUND YOUR NUMBER!"
Ema's eyes shoot open, Yuusuke points at the combination "J0239", it was her number. Ema's eyes widen, and her jaw dropped to the floor, she was absolutely dumbfounded. I made it! I got accepted!
"YOU DID IT, YOU DID IT! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!," Yuusuke shouts, wrapping his arms tightly around the petite girl, practically suffocating her.
Ema gasps: "Yuu-kun!"
Yuusuke pulls away, he panics: "Shit! I'm so sorry!"
Ema giggles: "It's okay! That was too sweet of you!"
Yuusuke blushes and scratches the back of his neck: "I-it's nothing.."
Ema looks for his number. "Where's yours, Yuu-kun?," she asks.
Yuusuke begins to look for his number with her. He sighs: "No luck for me."
Ema's expression saddens, she was really looking forward to attending university with Yuusuke and was heartbroken to find out he wasn't accepted with her. "But don't worry," Yuusuke starts, "I'll try again next year! I have to if I want to go to the same university as you!"
Ema blushes and smiles sweetly at the handsome red head, Yuusuke was so determined, it truly warmed her heart. "Thank you, Yuu-kun, that means a lot to me," Ema says. She gets on the tip of her toes and kisses Yuusuke on the cheek.
His face flares up, he places a hand on his cheek. "I-it's no big deal... I-I'm doing this for me anyways, not for you!," he argues.
Ema giggles: "Sure, you are."
That evening, the brothers held a party for (mostly) Ema and Yuusuke, to congratulate them both (but mostly Ema) for finishing high school. All but Subaru attended, to no one's surprise. After the incident with Natsume, Subaru didn't bother to show his face at the mansion, but that didn't upset her too much... since she had Yuusuke.
As they sat at the dining table, enjoying their feast, a knock was heard at the door. "Yuu-chan, get that," Hikaru orders.
"What? Aren't I having a party thrown for me right now?," Yuusuke exclaims, dismayed.
"Sure, but you were more of an afterthought," Hikaru says.
"AN AFTERTHOUGHT?," Yuusuke barks, jumping out of his seat.
"God shut up, idiot! Save the shouting for later," Fuuto says.
"Yes, an afterthought," Hikaru repeats, "Now shoo!" Hikaru motions to Yuusuke to get out. Yuusuke rolls his eyes and makes his way downstairs.
Upon his return, the brothers instantly noticed Yuusuke's odd expression.
"What's up Yuu-chan? You look like you've just seen a ghost!," Natsume says.
Yuusuke hands an envelope to Masaomi, who opens it and reads it content: "Backup candidate acceptance letter."
Ema's eyes widen: "No way!"
"Congratulations, Yuu-chan," Louis says.
"I-is it real? Are you sure this is real?," Yuusuke panics.
Ukyo takes the letter from Masaomi and reads it over: "It looks pretty real to me."
"You did it, Yuu-chan!," Kaname exclaims.
"Congratulations!," Azusa cheers.
"D-does that mean I get to go to the same college as you?," Yuusuke asks, veering his gaze to the pretty brunette.
"Yes, it does!," Ema giggles, smiling brightly.
"For real?," Yuusuke questions, his eyes bulging out of his head.
"Yup, for real!"
"Oh thank God!," Yuusuke sighs in relief.
He falls to his knees and sobs. Ema kneels down and hugs him tight. Fuuto rolls his eyes: "Geez, so dramatic."
Ukyo smacks the idol in the back of the head: "Don't be such a party pooper!"
Fuuto bites back: "Says you!" The brothers laugh.
Graduation came and went, standing in front of the main entrance, Ema was getting ready to home, when she felt a hand grab her wrist.
She jumps a little: "Yuu-kun?" Her attention turns to the redhead holding her wrist, he seemed restless, and had a soft pink flush across his cheeks. "Yuu-kun, what's wrong?," Ema asks, turning to face the young man.
Yuusuke takes a deep breath and starts: "Ema-chan... I-I told myself I'd tell you this if I managed to get into Meiji. And since I did... I-I- SUKI DA, EMA-CHAN!"
Yuusuke squeezes his eyes shut, unable to look at his high school crush in the eyes. Ema gasps softly, taken by surprise at Yuusuke'a sudden confession.
Yuusuke continues: "I'VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH YOU SINCE THE DAY I FIRST SAW YOU UNDER THE CHERRY BLOSSOM TREES! A-AND IF YOU'LL HAVE ME, I-I WANT NOTHING MORE THAN-"
Before Yuusuke could finish his sentence, Ema grabs his face and crashes her lips onto his. Yuusuke's eyes shoot open, he inhales sharply. WAIT WHAT? IS SHE, IS SHE- AM I DREAMING? Ema pulls away and exclaims: "I love you too, Yuu-kun!"
She begins to tear up, Yuusuke's gawking expression turns into the brightest smile she'd ever seen. "ARE YOU SERIOUS?," Yuusuke shouts, his tone full of joy. Ema nods vigorously. Yuusuke laughs in disbelief. "YES!," he shouts into the sky. He picks her up and spins the pretty girl around, earning a laugh from her.
Ema tightly wraps her arms around his neck and pulls him into another kiss, he kisses her back, hugging her waist. She pulls away and says: "Ai shiteru, Yuu-kun." Yuusuke pulls her back into another kiss, and another one, and another one, and another one...
Flashforward (One year later)
"Are we there yet?," Ema whines, for the hundredth time.
Yuusuke teasingly rolls his eyes: "Almost baby, be patient!"
Ema pouts, her lower lip adorably sticking out, Yuusuke chuckles. Yuusuke had been driving for hours, without telling Ema where they were going. As much as it excited her, she quickly grew anxious, as the sun was beginning to set.
About an hour later, Yuusuke announces: "We're here!"
Ema looks around the area, it looked familiar, but she couldn't exactly pin point where she was. "Remember this place?," Yuusuke asks.
Ema turns her attention to the van parked in front of them, the camping van, to be precise, causing a lightbulb to turn on in her head. "Wait, is this the camping sight we stopped by when we went on that trip to the mountains for your eighteenth birthday?," Ema asks excitedly.
Yuusuke chuckles: "It is! We slept over here, remember?"
Ema blushes at the memory of her and Yuusuke cuddling for the first time, despite the fact that they'd been dating for a little over a year, she still gets flustered whenever he wraps his arm around her waist, holds her hand, or kisses her. "Yes, I remember!," Ema smiles.
They exit the vehicle and Yuusuke pulls out a tent from the trunk, along with a sleeping bag. Together, they set up the tent and lay the sleeping bag inside, before heading out to start a fire. Yuusuke starts the fire, while Ema grabbed sticks to throw in.
After the fire was lit, they sat on the log in front of the campfire together, looking at the stars. "You don't get to see stuff like this in the city," Ema remarks.
"Yeah, that's true," Yuusuke agrees.
They admired the stars together, in blissful silence, until Ema felt a tap on her shoulder. She turns and sees Yuusuke softly smiling, with a light pink flush on his cheeks, she turns her attention to his hand, in which he was holding an small, velvet box, with a beautiful diamond ring inside.
Ema gasps loudly, placing a hand over her mouth. "Will you marry me, Ema-chan?," he says softly.
Ema feels tears of joy streaming down her cheeks, she cries out: "Yes! Yes! Of course I'll marry you!"
Yuusuke laughs in relief and places the ring on her finger. He hugs her, crying quietly into her neck: "I love you so much."
Ema hugs him back and whispers: "I love you too."
