DISCLAIMER: I tried really hard to avoid talking about this, but it seems I've been sorta spooked into a corner after several messages. I'm sorry if these aren't the most detailed or best-written one-shots out there. Please understand this was meant to be done for fun, and on top of doing these every single day for thirty-one days, I am doing every day on Tumblr for 5dsmonth too with some kind of art.
I am currently dealing with mental health issues- hence why some of these days have been late, or why another mod has stepped in to write. Just. Remember to be kind. That's all.
Thank you for listening :)
Day 24 will be published right after this.
Day 22 (July 28th): Tech Genius: The android with a supercomputer for a brain, Bruno stole our hearts as Antimony, and continued until the bitter end. Today's prompt is all about Bruno, Antimony, or Dark Glass/Vizor.
Focus: Bruno leaves his last letter to Yusei.
Characters: Bruno. Toolshipping implied.
"Hey, Yusei! I have some bad news…."
No! That was too friendly, wasn't it? Too jokey ha-ahaha and not so serious…
"Yusei. This will be the last time we'll be seeing each other. You see, I'm really Antimomy, and all this time I-"
Gods. This was impossible. Bruno was writing his own death note on his boyfriend's computer encrypted in a code that would only be unlocked after the Ark Cradle's time of destruction.
After all, Bruno was ultimately a liar. Yes, he was Bruno. He was also Antimony- an android meant to teach Yusei about Accel Synchro, and then be one of his opponents in…
Bruno was never meant to survive the Ark Cradle. He remembered as such. That is, after he got his memories back.
He wished he would have gotten his memories back sooner. In that case, maybe he wouldn't have fallen head over heels for Yusei Fudo. But then again, how could he help it? Yusei was the first to be kind to him. He still remembered all the time they had spent working on the engine, and how it felt to just talk to someone for hours on end. He had never felt such a serious connection to anyone prior.
Yusei…Bruno had been honored to be the pit stop for Yusei. To help fix his D-Wheel, the Yusei-Go…It…
Bruno had to stop himself from slamming his fist on the table. He had to do this. No. Antimony had to do this. There was no other way.
This was the way it had to be. There was no other way around it.
Bruno took a sigh and started to type once more. He figured he was about half-way, this time editing as he went and furiously rewriting and retyping and-
"Hey," Yusei spoke softly behind him. Bruno almost jumped out of his chair. He quickly exited out of the document and turned to Yusei with a bashful grin and a stuttered out, "H-Hey!"
Yusei only raised an eyebrow at Bruno's antics. That was so much like him. He'd never question Bruno. Yusei trusted him. Yusei actually liked him, and Bruno liked him in return and. It couldn't work out. It couldn't.
He had to die.
One of them had to die.
Gods forbid he'd ever let it be Yusei.
"Just writing something for the match tomorrow," Bruno could feel his cheeks turn pink.
Yusei chucked under his breath. "If you say so," Yusei casually threw one of his arms around Bruno's shoulders. Bruno could feel his heart race. Whatever heart was in there. "You've been done here for a while," Yusei murmured. "You should sleep."
"After I get this done," Bruno protested. Yusei kept looking at him with those blue eyes. He found himself sighing in agreement. "Sure," Bruno nodded sadly. "Let's go."
They had limited time left.
He shouldn't waste it.
That's what he kept telling himself as he let Yusei lead him by the hand back up to his room, the letter sitting unfinished on the computer left alone in the garage.
It never would be finished.
A/N:
Tune in tomorrow (or today, oops) for Day 23, Bad Guy Syndrome!
