Operation Silverfoxes
Chapter 25th
Three days later there was another accident at the nuclear plant in Arizona some two hundred miles south of the closest city. The main pump of reactor # two had blown leaking poisonous chemicals into the atmosphere. However there wasn't any radiation leakage to be thankful. Though bad enough for some of the locals living closer to the plant.
They had called in the authorities to test the water supply and air. Only to find traceable amounts of the chemicals. There were some reports of the employees having to be working near that particular pump had suffered with exposure to the chemicals and have been transported to the nearest hospital with a burn unit.
Those investigating the explosion of the pump had found to be tampered with explosives. Even though no group had claimed responsibility for the accident as they called it.
The local officials of the nuclear site decided to call in the army to help keep the residents away due to being scared with radiation leakage.
In regard to the Army. Colonel Dabney Ellison aged 56 called the local SECNAV and other agencies to find out why this was happening in the first place. The Colonel knew that something has been going on having his clearance for when it comes to terrorist groups and operations.
It was on a NEED TO KNOW basics for when IFF agent Billy Melrose was mention in his communications dispatch once he was sent to the area to survey the damage and have his team members to try and keep the peace among the locals living closer to the plant.
They had been told many years ago not to be living this close to the nuclear site knowing what can happened with a possible accident. And now it was happening...
Colonel Ellison wearing his protection as with his team checked out the damage to see the fragments of the explosives having been found inside of the main panel of the pump.
He was able to see the wiring as well having been severed as well to not be a good thing. Even though he wasn't an electrician. He pulled his men back to let the plant's authorities to begin working on the repairs and replacing the damaged pump and wiring. While shutting down the second pump next to it in case of further issues with the other two pumps.

IFF Time 2.30 P.M. in the afternoon
Billy Melrose was tired with coming back from a long boring meeting with all of the regional managers and agents to go over all of the recent reports concerning Operation Silverfoxes. What Billy didn't know was the fact that the nuclear site in Arizona was hit with another explosion with a chemical pump inside the plant had blown.
He had sat down to see the report on his desk after taking off his hat and coat. It was cold outside with a slight chance of rain and even thunder.
Pouring himself a cup of coffee from the side of his desk with adding the milk and sugar needing the energy to get through the rest of the day. Taking a swig of his hot coffee he noticed the damn report with a grumble.
Placing his coffee down on his desk to pick up the file. He began reading the accident report on what had happened in Arizona only to knock his coffee out of sheer frustration. He missed having Lee Stetson here as with Francine Desmond still in the safe house and the investigation of the senator's shooting.
He gets up to clean up the mess from spilling his coffee before continuing on with the report and making important phone calls.

Evergreen Safe house
There was an investigation going on inside the safe house. Colonel George H. Gordon was brought in from another safe house to over see the interviews with those involved and one of them was Lt. Robert Baskins.
He had been called from his quarters just after leaving Francine in the morning. He had told her that he would call her after he was done with the investigator in regard to the shooting of the senator. He was nervous even though he had nothing to worry about.
He had placed on his uniform needing to be proper and trim with the interview. He was feeling wonderful in regard to his life in general with having met Francine of IFF.
After he had checked his appearance into the wall mirror of his quarters. He then headed to get inside his jeep with wearing a jacket having to be slightly cold all of a sudden. It wasn't going to take long to reach the building.
A few moments later parking the jeep outside with two security officers standing guard outside. They had needed to take a look at his badge and I.D. along for the reason. Afterwards he signed in before the Colonel was ready to begin the interview with him.
Secretary Madeline Weiss in the outer office had called Colonel Gordon that Lt. Baskins had arrived." She was listening to what he was saying over the phone. It was a moment later when she tells Lt. Baskins to go on inside.
Colonel George H. Gordon was a man in his late fifties with being a silver fox. He had been in the Navy for the past 20 years as an investigator. "Please sit Lt. Baskins and relax I won't bite at all."
Both men chuckled with the interview being recorded. "Tell me Lt. Baskins how long have you been working at this safe house?" He asked calmly.
"Five years Colonel." As his hands were folded sitting in the chair across from him.
"Now tell me what happened for when it came to the senator being shot and killed inside the secured safe house?" He says with watching for his reaction to the question.
"I was finishing up with another client with her exercises and gun range with running late. Afterwards I headed on over to pick up the Senator to head on over to the gun range. However having stopped with other patrons walking around I needed to be careful until they had gone. Until all of a sudden I saw the senator being hit by two shots directly into the head to fall out of the jeep."
"What happened next Lt. Baskins?" He replied with taking a sip of cold water from the pitcher.
"I checked for a pulse as I heard the alarms after screaming for help. I was shaken having never been involved in something like this before." Robert will respond with answering the question.
"In order for me to know the truth. Do you think that lately security around the perimeter has been doing their jobs?" Honest question since it was his safety that he's thinking about.
"No Colonel Gordon I don't." Plain and simple answer to the question.
