It was 2009. Jessie and John hadn't talked since their phone call in 2005. Not for any particular reason they were just busy with their lives. Jessie and were still trying to have a baby, unsuccessfully. Jessie didn't want to admit that they had a problem. She finally broke down and decided to go get checked. Her appointment was tomorrow. Jay had no idea about it. That afternoon Jay picked Jessie up for lunch. They didn't make it. The car was in an empty parking lot and windows were all steamed up. They were getting dressed.

"Well that was a fun lunch." Jessie said smiling.

"Yes it was." He said smiling back.

"I think I'm gonna be late, you took a little to long."

"You weren't complaining a few minutes ago." He kissed her.

Jay dropped Jessie back off at work.

"See you tonight."

"Ok." "I love you."

"I love you too." They kissed.

"Bye."

"Bye."

The next day Jessie only worked half a day and went to the doctor. She was sitting in an examination room. The doctor came in.

"Hi Jessie." She said.

"Hi Dr. Marx."

"What seems to be the problem?"

"Well my husband Jay and I have been trying to get pregnant for four years now, with no luck."

"How often do you have sex?"

"Whenever we can." "I've tried everything." "Herbal teas, different positions, laying with my legs up in the air, nothing works."

"I'd like to perform a full pelvic examination, as well as run a battery of tests."

"Ok."

"I'll give a minute to put the gown on and we'll get started." She left the room.

It was Friday when Jessie went to the doctor. She had to wait all weekend to hear something. It was Monday morning. Jessie was at work. Her office phone rang.

"Jessie Sonnenfield." She said answering the phone. "Hello Dr. Marx." "Yes, I can come in."

Later that night Jessie gotten home.

"I'm home." She said.

"Hi."

"Jay we need to talk." "Come sit down."

He could tell something was wrong. They sat down. "What's wrong Jessie?"

"I went to the doctor last Friday." "I wanted to see why I can't get pregnant."

"What'd they say?"

"There's some scarring in my uterus due to my miscarriage." She got tears in her eyes. "That scarring has left me unable to conceive." "I can't have children." She started to cry. He hugged her.

"It's ok."
