Scorpius had a thrumming pain in his head. It was a storm brewing in his brain like one hell of a hangover. Gryffindor had won he thought, he drank too much. He couldn't remember the party, but the pounding certainly explained that. He slowly opened his eyes, blinking painfully to try ridding the feeling that his eyelids were made out a piece of sandpaper. He squinted, everything seemed too bright, he must have left the curtains open.

"Why isn't she waking up?"

"She almost died!"

"She was seriously injured, Ron, we can't rush waking her up."

Scorpius frowned, confused as to why there were so many voices in his bedroom. Did he fall asleep in his old dorm room? No, he couldn't have done, he thought, because that was a woman's voice and the only female voice he should be hearing when he woke up was Rose's, but he knew it wasn't hers. Rose.

"Rose," he rasped, struggling to sit up but his limbs felt heavy. "Rose, where is she?"

"Scorp, calm down, mate," urged Al, standing up from the chair beside him and pushing him his shoulders back down. "Rose is here."

Scorpius blinked and looked around. He realised he was lying in one of the metal-framed beds in the Hospital Wing, tucked into white sheets. The only other occupant had a group of people huddled around them and he realised the voices he heard were Hermione, Ron, and Harry. James and Hugo were with them too, even Lily was sat pale-faced. Waking up had startled the group and he barely had the time to process what was happening before he felt engulfed in a hug, frizzy brown hair covering his eyes.

"Thank you, Scorpius," said Hermione tearfully, as she loosened her grip on him and kissed him on the cheek. "You saved her life with that spell work."

"How is she?" asked Scorpius, hoarsely before clearing his throat. "I tried to get to her, but I couldn't, I'm sorry, so sorry, I just wasn't fast enough. She hit the ground because I couldn't save her."

"She could have died if it wasn't for you," said Ron, his voice thick, laying a hand on Scorpius' shoulder. "Nobody had even realised what happened until we saw the sparks from your wand. My wife is right, you saved my Rosie's life."

"How is she?"

"She's still unconscious," replied Al. "Madam Pomfrey has fixed her face and the broken bones but she's given her a sleeping potion whilst her head heals. You can't rush brain injuries even with magic, she said it's too dangerous."

Scorpius's stomach turned. "Head injuries? From the Bludger?"

"Partly," chipped in James. "It smashed her face pretty good, she looked horrific until Pomfrey sorted it, but even with you turning the ground into a bouncy castle she still landed with force. You did too, you know."

"My head feels rough, why did I blackout?"

"Because a sleeping draught was forced down your throat because you were hysterical," said Al bluntly. "You were panicking about Rose and she needed to be brought here but so did you. Your shoulder was dislocated, and your hip fractured."

Scorpius flushed. "I remember trying to roll into the crash and then trying to get to Rose. I didn't feel anything."

"Adrenaline," explained Harry, with a smile. "You were so pumped up you didn't even realise. You're fine now, Madam Pomfrey fixed you up whilst you were sleeping. You'll just feel a bit fuzzy whilst the draught fully wears off but other than that you're okay."

"I feel hungover," admitted Scorpius. "But it feels like the fog is lifting. I'm getting out of this bed though, I need to see her with my own eyes."

Harry nodded and Al helped him Scorpius stand up. He leant on his friend whilst he steadied himself taking a moment to adjust. The first few steps his legs felt like lead but with each one, his feet got lighter but it felt like rocks were being dropped in his stomach. He leant against the bed, half sitting next to her, and grabbed her pale hand that was resting on top of the sheets. He breathed a sigh of relief that it felt warm to touch.

"She could just be sleeping," said Scorpius softly. She'd been changed into a white hospital gown, the bedsheets pulled up to her waist. Her red curls were fanned out on the pillow framing her pale face, her eyes closed. Her skin was missing her usually red blush on her cheeks, or on her ears when she was embarrassed but although she was pale, she was whole. Scorpius wanted to be a healer and could perform simple healing spells already but the amount of damage her face and head had suffered he thought she had died when he first saw her. He clenched the fist of on his spare hand when he saw flashes of blood and lifeless limbs in his mind.

He felt a hand rest on his shoulder and some of the tension eased away. "She is sleeping we just don't know when my niece will be ready to be woken."

"She's going to be fine, Scorp," stated Al. "You know how stubborn she is, she couldn't possibly let you beat her in the NEWTs, especially on the technicality of her not being able to sit the exams."

Scorpius forced a laugh. "Yeah, she'll probably sense an exam starting and that's when she'll wake up."

"She'll be okay, won't she, Dad?" asked a tearful Lily, surprising him as she had been so quiet. He felt Harry squeeze his shoulder before scooping his daughter into a hug.

"Of course, she will be," said Harry, gently. "I am going to remind you of how upset you are now though the next time you fight."

"I won't ever fight with her again!"

"Yes, you will," chorused James, Al, and Ron.

"And that's okay, Lily bug, everything will go back to normal and you'll be fighting like cats and dogs, but everyone knows you love each other really," smiled Harry. Lily nodded sniffling back more tears.

"Where's Madam Pomfrey?" asked Scorpius. "Shouldn't she be here doing something?"

"It's been a few hours since the match, Scorp, everything that can be done has been done," explained Al. "The bonus of knocking you out meant she could focus on Rose, fix what was broken and run a load of tests and then she sorted you out. She disappeared with McGonagall about an hour ago."

Scorp nodded. "Does she need to go to Mungo's?"

"We don't know yet," answered Hermione. She was sat in the chair on the opposite side to him, holding her other hand. It made him realise he was still clutching hers in his and he dropped it, feeling his face warm up probably rivalling this family's legendary blush. He had not gone unnoticed going by Hermione's knowing smile. "We just need to be there for her in the meantime."

More than ever he hoped she would be able to wake up soon. If she had to be taken to 's for further treatment there would be no way he'd be able to go as well. One, he wasn't a family member and two, McGonagall wouldn't let him go with exams being so close especially if they still could be given no timescales for when she wakes. He was of age; he could leave whenever he wanted to but there was no guarantee the hospital would let him visit. Maybe he could try persuading the Headmistress to let him leave the castle in the evenings and ask her to speak to the hospital for him. Come on, Rose, he urged, please just open those big blue eyes.

The Hospital Wing doors clattered open and he looked up in hope he would be getting some more answers but instead, he felt his stomach fill with rage. He walked towards the unwelcome visitor and towered over him.

"What are you doing here?"

"McGonagall wanted me to come to apologise so I'm here to apologise," replied Jewkes, defiantly.

"I really don't think she intended you to do that right now, so I suggest you turn around and leave."

He saw Jewkes peak around him at the gathering at Rose's bed and saw a flickering of nerves in the other boy's eyes. He could hear muttering behind him and realised that the Weasley's and Harry hadn't seen Rose get hit and would never have seen Robbie Jewkes before so wouldn't recognise his face.

"Headmistress's orders, Malfoy," stated Robbie. "Although you may think you rule the school as Head Boy there are still people in positions of power above you."

"She's unconscious!" growled Scorpius, clenching his fists. "So good luck apologising right now. You know what, even if she was awake she would probably tell you to fuck off so why don't you just do that."

"Listen to him, Jewkes," called out Al. "You didn't fare too well last time in an argument with us so just leave."

"You may have knocked her off her broom, but Rose was right this morning; only one of you was an embarrassment."

"You think I'm an embarrassment?" laughed Jewkes. "I'm not the one who couldn't fly fast enough to save his little girlfriend. That's embarrassing."

Scorpius went to grab his wand from his robe pocket but felt his stomach go when he realised it wasn't there. It was the first time since waking he had realised he was wearing a pair of dark blue sweat pants and a white t-shirt. Whoever had changed him must have put his wand somewhere, or it is was still on the Quidditch field somewhere. Unfortunately, Jewkes had seen his hand twitch and grinned.

"And you lost your wand, you've definitely proved you're not much of a wizard today, Malfoy."

"Just leave. I don't care what you think of me, Jewkes. I'm satisfied enough by the fact you tried so hard all match to knock her off her broom but she and the rest of my team were too good for you. Because you're such a pathetic player you had to resort to hitting that Bludger after the whistle had blown."

"Your beaters might be good but your girlfriend is average and everyone knows that. She didn't get on the team because she's any good."

"Shut up."

"She got on the team because the captain was her cousin-"

"Shut up."

"-She stayed on the team because she spread her legs for Wood-"

"I swear to Merlin, you need to shut the fuck up."

"- and then she stayed on the team this year because she spread her legs for yo- Ahh"

Without a wand, and seeing red, Scorpius had done the next big thing and charged at Jewkes, who had not expected that so fell backward with Scorpius on top of him. He'd barely caught his breath before Scorpius landing the first punch on his face, and he'd not caught it yet for the second time Scorpius's fist had smashed against his cheekbone.

"Don't you dare speak about her like that," roared Scorpius. Jewkes was trying to push him off, and the pair of them were grappling on the floor until Scorpius felt arms under armpits pulling him up for the second time that day. Scorpius struggled against them, even more annoyed when it gave Jewkes the chance to return a punch, his fist grazing his eyebrow bone. He saw arms grabbing Jewkes' arms pinning them behind them and realised it was Ron and Harry pulling the boy away from him. He turned his head and realised that the Potter Boys had grabbed him, and he stopped struggling against them not wanting to accidentally hit his friends.

"Get out of here," shouted Harry, as they had pulled him far enough to let him go. Ron let him go with a bit of push so Jewkes lost his balance and staggered away from them.

"Fine, I'm going," said Jewkes, spitting out blood to the side of him. "But you're going to pay for this, Malfoy."

"Doubt it."

"What in Merlin's name is going on here?"

Professor McGonagall and Madam Pomfrey had entered the room, shocked at the scene in front of her. Scorpius was still being held by Al and James, although he had fallen limp upon the entrance of his Headmistress, with a graze and probably bruising on his face, and Jewkes to the side with bruising and a busted nose.

"Am I talking to an empty room?" she asked sternly.

"He fell," replied Scorpius bluntly, shrugging out of his friend's grasp. "Landed on his face."

"And did you happen to fall as well, Mr. Malfoy?" asked McGonagall with a raised eyebrow.

"Nope," replied Scorpius. "I probably hurt my face when I landed. Madame Pomfrey had a lot to deal with, understandable it was missed, it's okay it doesn't hurt."

Madame Pomfrey gasped. "I did not miss your face, young man, your face was as good as it's ever been when I left here."

"It's true," chirped in Ron, with a smile. "Seems to be a very clumsy boy, on his feet, and with his beaters bat."

Scorpius couldn't keep the small smile off of his face as he saw Hermione defiantly nod her head in agreement and Harry added, 'I suppose if you're going to fall, doing it in the Hospital Wing is the best place."

"You three were some of the biggest liars to enter these castle grounds, you might be the Golden Trio and all grown up but it does not mean, as far as I'm concerned, that I believe what comes out of your mouths any more than when you were teenagers."
