Today Jamie and Eddie were meeting with their realtor to look at some houses. They had to bring the girls with also. They had a total of 3 properties they were gonna look at and the plan of hopefully putting in an offer for one of them at the end of all this. They needed to move, they outgrew their apartment.
The first house they got to was a townhome. It had a garage connected. Steps up to the door. When they got inside it was not an open floor plan. The kitchen was separated from the living room with stairs and a bathroom in the middle.
"So I'm not crazy about this setup..." Eddie told Jamie.
"Yeah but look at the yard." Jamie pointed out looking out the back door.
"I know, but I can't see the kids if I'm in the kitchen and they're over here..." Eddie explained, and Jamie understood. They still went upstairs to see the bedrooms. It was 4 bedroom 1 bath upstairs.
"Only one bathroom up here too I don't know.." Jamie said to Eddie and the realtor.
"Scarlett!" Eddie caught her on the corner of her eye near the steps. She snatched her up.
"Yeah no, you can't do steps yet, you're gonna fall." Eddie told her and carried her as they left the house. Steps are something else they didn't even think about having to be careful around having 2 little ones soon. They would have to get gates and all that. Onto the next...
The next house they got to was a single family home in town. The owners stuff was still inside which was nice to see what it could look like with furniture. They had kids so their were toys and such throughout. The girls immediately drawing attention to them.
"Okay hey, Em and Scarlett. This is not our home we are not wandering around and touching things that are not ours got it?" Eddie asked/told firmly. Emmalyn understood, Scarlett not so much she was only 14 months. They walked around the house. It was a nice setup the only thing was 1 out of the 4 bedrooms was on the first level while the rest were upstairs.
"I don't like that." Jamie said flat out.
"Me neither." Eddie said.
"I mean sure when the kids are older having our bedroom away from theirs is a plus but-" Jamie said.
"But that's not for like 10 years. Haha" Eddie added.
"Scarlett Elaina!" Eddie raised her voice as she caught her playing with the owners shoes set aside in the room. Jaime moved her aside and fixed them.
"Emmalyn can you be a big helper and watch your sister, hold her hand so she doesn't touch anything?" Eddie asked.
"Mommy she doesn't listen." Em said.
"She's little yet, you have to teach her." Jamie said.
"Fine. Scarlett hold my hand." Em held her hand out and surprisingly she listened.
"Okay so what do we think about this place?" The realtor asked.
"I think it's an option. I like how it's a single home, has a yard. Not crazy about the area but it's not like a complete turn off." Jamie said and then motioned his hand for Eddie to talk.
"But what about the bedroom set up?" She asked.
"Yeah I mean but we could just make this a playroom and bunk up the girls. I know that's the reason we wanted a 4 bedroom but this place is still bigger for them to spread out and go outside, have a playroom, etc." Jamie said.
"I don't know...I guess." Eddie said.
"Okay well do you guys know what you're having?" The realtor asked as the girls started yelling and screaming in the other room.
"Hey! Knock it off!" Jamie yelled seeing them fighting.
"Emmalyn! Get back over here with Scarlett now..!" Eddie demanded.
"She won't!" Emmalyn said struggling to bring her back Scarlett went in to bite the hand Emmalyn had a hold on her with. Jamie stopped it before she could latch on.
"No mouth!" He told her and tapped her lips with his hand. She started crying and threw herself on the floor freaking out.
"So we're hoping for a boy..." Eddie told the realtor, making her laugh.
They got to the next house. It was so cute, had a few steps up to the front porch, an attached garage. The backyard was a little less then half and acre with a small patio. When you walked in it was open. Kitchen to the left that overlooked the living room a back door to separate it with room for a kitchen table near by. Off the living room was a small hall with full bathroom, laundry closet, and small office space (aka playroom). Off the other side of the house closer to the kitchen were the stairs. Straight ahead was a full bathroom that also opened up to the master bedroom. Down the hall were 3 more bedrooms.
"Where do we sign?" Eddie said laughing and looking at Jamie.
They went back to the realtors office and started filling out paperwork to hopefully buy the last property they looked at. They'd get a call in a few days to let them know if they got it or not.

Later that day Jamie offered to do bath time with the girls and give Eddie a break. She was pretty tired and her ankles were swollen. She sat in bed and ate bread and butter pickles dipped in peanut butter (her new thing). She just listened to Jamie give the girls their bath down the hall.
Once she heard they were done she made herself get out to help him get at least one of them to bed.
"Come on Em." She said standing in the bathroom door watching her dry herself off while Jamie did Scarlett.
"Eddie I got it..." Jamie told her when he heard her, he looked up at her standing there. She looked exhausted, uncomfortable, not wanting to stand up, but she insisted on helping.
Eddie got Emmalyn into bed and headed back to their bedroom to eat her pickles and peanut butter again.
Jamie came in a few minutes later after he put Scarlett down. He smiled when he saw what she was eating but didn't say anything. He sat next to her in bed and just listened to the peacefulness over her loud chewing.
"I really hope we get that house." She said crunching.
"I know. It was pretty nice." He replied.
"It was perfect!" Eddie said passionately. Jamie laughed at her and agreed.
"Umm did you put that other baby lotion on Scarlett..!?" Eddie said not moving.
"Yeah...? Oh right...!" Jaime remembered Eddie didn't like the smell of it and went to wash it off his hands quick. He was mid drying his hands when Eddie came rushing in the bathroom and puking as soon as she got to the toilet.
"Agh...sorry babe..." Jamie said and pulled her hair back for her quickly. He had to try so hard not to gag himself, pickles and peanut butter coming back up were not appealing. When she was done she cleaned herself up and Jamie just felt bad, it was his fault.
"I don't even want to look at the bowl of food I left on our bed, can you get rid of it." Eddie asked Jamie still feeling uneasy before they left the bathroom.
"Sure thing." Jamie replied and went to clean up her pickles and peanut butter she had in a bowl. Eddie then climbed into bed. She was just ready to get some sleep and so was Jamie.
2 hours later...
Crying at the foot of the bed*
"Emmalyn what's wrong?" Jamie asked sitting up in bed. She was breathing heavy. Practically hyperventilating, also shaking, crying, and sweating. She got closer to Jamie slowly.
"What's wrong..? Eddie...!" He asked her again and shook Eddie to wake up. She was scaring him. He didn't know what was wrong.
"I had a scary dream..." she said through her tears and shakiness. Eddie sat up trying to listen to what was going on.
"What happened?" Jaime asked Em.
"The bad guy. He came to our new house. And you weren't home." She told Jamie still in her hyperventilating state.
"Oh sweetie..." Eddie felt so bad, so did Jamie. He comforted her with a hug and let her cry a second before he tried to talk to her.
"That bad guy is not coming back. He's in jail. He won't ever hurt you." Jamie told her hugging her so tight to calm her nerves. She was so worked up though.
"Let her lay with us. You can carry her back later." Eddie told Jamie and moved over. He picked her up and let her lay with them in bed. She switched to cuddle with Eddie then. Jamie just laid there watching her try and soothe her, this was hard for him to see. He didn't understand why these dreams only happened every so often.
"You're safe, I promise." Eddie kept telling her. Jamie just tried to help by rubbing her back and being patient. Knowing they had to just ride it out.
Eventually Em calmed down and passed back out snuggled up to Jamie. Eddie and him couldn't fall back asleep, they never could after an outburst like that. It was traumatic.
"I think at her 6 year check up I'll have to bring this up and see what the doctor thinks." Eddie said.
"Yeah but I mean she already talks to someone about it, what else can you do?" Jamie asked.
"I don't know that's what I'd wanna find out" Eddie replied. They just both laid there in deep thought. Eventually falling back asleep.
