Chapter 34
The trip to the amusement park had been a blast. However, thanks to the two hour wait they'd only done that roller coaster ride just once more. The park did have two others but they weren't even comparable to that one. There were other rides and they'd stopped and gotten something to eat in the park. Kate didn't know anything about costs but he hadn't questioned the prices.
She had let him use the lone bathroom first and sat on the bed waiting; he came back in only a towel. She was ready and already barefoot so she had gone next. When she was back and mostly dry she found him already in bed on one side.
Kate only had what Lais had gotten her which in this case meant wearing panties and a sleep shirt. After dropping her clothes on the floor since the room had little else he opened up his arms, inviting her into them.
Kate hesitated for a moment then crawled into bed. She settled in next to him and felt his arm go around her. It was a comfy place to be and she was starting to like it.
She had actually expected for something to happen. But he simply said good night to her, got comfortable, and held her close.
Now she was awake and basically right where she'd gone to sleep. Her panties were still in place though her sleep shirt was bunched up to just under her breasts. "Breakfast?" Ador queried.

"It's a hot drink using ground coffee beans. You don't have coffee." Neither she, Alexis, or Lais had found an alternative. "I brought a sample but it's probably not hot." Coffee tasted terrible when it was cold and she wasn't going to do that to him.
"We can probably fix that. I'll get ready and we can go down and find a place to heat it up." He was more than willing to help.
Kate couldn't help but have hope. "Thank you." She was ready to kiss him for it, but he was up and going down the stairs.

Ador was in his swimsuit, had on a shirt to cover up and beach shoes. Kate was in her bikini and was wearing one of Rick's shirts. It was the closest anyone could come to a wrap for her. She was wearing her tennis shoes without socks.
Amazingly he had found someone to heat up the drink she had brought.
It looked hot and Kate took a sip and moaned as it hit her system. It was still great. "Try a sip? Careful, it's really hot," Kate warned and watched him take a sip. But the face he made told her he hated it. Then she saw him look around like he wanted to spit it out. Still he swallowed it.
"That was disgusting!" He hated to break it to her but he couldn't stop himself. "You actually drink that stuff?" She was nuts if she did.
"You've never heard of anything like it?" She needed to find something. She took the cup back from him, intending to drink it. She didn't have much and couldn't let it go to waste.
"Not me, no. Let's see if we can ask the chef that works here. Don't drink that. Even if he can't help there might be someone close that can."

Kate watched someone who she was told was a cook take a sip and then spit it right back out into a sink. The face he made told her he thought it was just as bad as Ador did. Her hopes were sinking fast.
But he did know of someone that might be able to help.
Now an hour later they were both dressed, not for the waterpark but for going out farther into the local area.
Kate let him lead and listened to him explain the problem. He gave the name of the person that sent them here.
This time Kate watched him take a sip and instead of spitting it out he actually swooshed it around in his mouth then swallowed it. "Flipper," he told them both.
Kate was confused. "A dolphin?" she asked.
"A what? …Never mind. Wait here." He left them and went back into the kitchen area.
"He seems to know of something and he didn't spit it out." Ador had no idea how he managed that. That drink was totally disgusting and he was never going to drink it again.
He was back. "Here." He handed over a card that he had. "This place specializes in ground everything. Tell them you want to taste flipper. They may have other things you may want to try but this is as close as I can come."
"Thank you!" Kate would have kissed him. However she did see Ador pay him something.
"Good luck and while you may already know it, that stuff is disgusting." He wasn't bashful in giving her his opinion.
"So I've heard." Kate glared at Ador.

It took them another 30 minutes to reach the location and stepping inside Kate and Ador saw nothing but jar after jar on shelves from floor to ceiling on every wall around them.
"Welcome. What can I help you with?" They both saw a man who looked really old step out.
Kate handed over the card she was given. "He told us to ask for flipper. " She really didn't see how a dolphin was going to help her. "He also suggested a taste test."
"Flipper, don't get much call for that. Taste tests come in groups." He took them over to a wall and showed them a panel what it cost per group.
"Three's fine. Does it cost a lot?" Kate still had no knowledge of costs here.
"It's not bad, I can manage it." Ador was thinking his idea of going to a restaurant and wining and dining her was out now.
"Do you have suggestions after we sample flipper ?" Kate inquired.
"Let me start with flipper first then we can see," he suggested instead. He accepted payment and got to work.

"One for each of you." He gave each of them a tiny cup that had a hot liquid in it.
"None for me, thanks." Ador waved away the cup. Once was more than enough for him.
Kate took her cup, gave it a sniff, and found it smelled funny. Still careful that it was hot, she gave it a test. A couple of minutes later and it was cooler she had downed both cups.
"Close, I think, but not really right. What's next?" This place just might actually have something.
He brought back a different jar, took out a tiny amount, and got to work. "This is Jeffjerk." He placed both cups in front of Kate since she was doing all the drinking.
It was clearly hot and Kate felt it when she picked up the tiny cup. Still she gave it a whiff. "Hmm, better." Next she sipped it. It tasted just about right. Once it was cooler she had drunk both cups.
"Now that's nice. What's next?" She had one more taste test to go.
Once again they watched him come back with a jar and observed him taking a tiny portion and puting it to use.
"This is Icegloob." He placed both tiny cups in front of Kate. She knew it was hot and a whiff had her rubbing her nose. It almost stank. Still she gave it a taste test and wanted to spit it out but swallowed it anyway. "No, no. That was bad. What's the cost of the second one?" Unless she talked Ador into another three samples it was the best of the three.
He handed her a pad to show the prices. "Is that a lot?" It was a bigger number than the taste test.
"Yeah, that's a lot." It was more than Ador was willing to spend.
"Communications?" She needed to talk to either Rick, Lais, or Alexis.

"Hi." Kate saw who answered.
"Kate! How's the date going? Do you need us to come get you?" Alexis asked in a softer voice since all she saw was her face.
"No, I'm fine. Do we have money for any of this?" Kate held up the pad for her to see.
"Easily. What is it? What is Jeffjerk?" She had never heard the name before.
"It's a ground coffee substitute. It's still not coffee but It's the closest I've come yet. Can we really afford this and how do I pay for it?" Kate didn't want to ask for too much. They needed that money to build a ship to get back home with.
"We can afford it. As for how to pay for it put the seller on." She was certain he or she would have what she needed.
Alexis saw a much older man show up. "We need to do a transfer. I need to know the name and the numbers," Alexis said then wrote down what he told her. "Put Kate back on, please."
"How much do you want and does he have enough?" Alexis queried. Kate went away for a moment. "This amount." Kate showed her the pad again. "Got it. This may take a few minutes. So, how's the date going?" Alexis couldn't resist.
"We went to the amusement park yesterday. They have this amazing roller coaster. It had these loops that didn't have a track at the top and then we plunged into the ground. We all screamed out heads off. I talked him into going twice," Kate replied.
"That sounds new. I'll have to talk Alex into going. Give me a few minutes. Have fun." Alexis killed the call.
"She said it would take a few minutes," Kate said to the merchant.

Kate was placing her bag of ground coffee on her night stand with great care. This time Ador went first to change into his swimsuit and came back dressed like last time.
She was soon back dressed the same as last time and dropped her clothes. "You're really going to drink that stuff?" He wasn't going anywhere near it.
"Yep. Ready to go?" Kate was ready to get this over with and maybe have some fun.
"Sunscreen." Ador held it up for her to see. She took her shirt off so he could spray it on her back and then she did the same for him.

Kate watched them tattoo an interactive map in Ador's hand. She was offered one of her own but she declined. She had a tattoo and didn't need another one.
Kate finally had to take her shirt off as did Ador. She watched out the corner of her eye to see his reaction or if he did anything. "What's first?" This place looked like nothing but fun.
"This way," he said after checking his map. It actually included current wait times so he chose one that was close that had the shortest wait time.

"This way." Ador chose another one that looked just as fun that had a short wait time.
At the end Kate adjusted her top yet again and saw what was next. She took his hand and pulled him along behind her.
"This one?" Ador watched as people plummeted straight down, screaming the entire way.
"Scared?" Kate teased since there was a slight crack in his voice. She couldn't wait to try it and if the line was short enough they were going to do it again. But she soon found that the wait was an hour. She got in line while still holding his hand. She half told herself it was so that he didn't chicken out on her.

"Very! Let's go!" Ador took her hand as he dragged her behind him and got back in line to wait another hour to do it again. They still had another 30 minutes when Kate slipped her arms around his neck again. "Thanks for this." Then she kissed him and kept kissing him, feeling him searching her mouth so she did the same.

"You're not so bad yourself." Kate noticed there was a gap between them and the people in front of them so she let go of him, took his hand, and moved forward to catch up.
Kate was smiling widely as she stood in the spot and crossed her arms across her chest and waited. Then she screamed the entire way down.
She stood up and adjusted her top just a little. "Best date ever!" She turned to look for him and saw him smiling widely as he came to a stop.
"That ride is awesome!" The roller coaster had almost scared the crap out of him literally. This one was scary and amazing. His opinion of it had changed dramatically. He gave her a choice. "Lunch, get in line again, or find another one?"
"A different one, then lunch maybe." She was willing to skip lunch and just keep having fun.

They had actually stopped for lunch and Kate made sure she didn't eat anything that was orange. Now they were leaving; it was the park's closing time.
Kate was carrying her shirt in one arm and had hold of Ador's arm with the other.
"You look different." Ador was seeing another side of Kate.
"Lais got me this bikini. I don't usually show this much." Kate was sure a blush was starting up her neck and fought it down.
"Not that. Well, yes that. You look great, by the way," Ador said which had Kate smiling. "I mean you look different."
Kate caught on. "Not so much dark armor or coat I think you called it?"
"You still have it but there's an opening. The real you is shining through. I may have to get you to wear that for our next sitting." Maybe it was the bikini that was helping.
"We can talk." Kate kept on smiling as they walked to their hotel room.
"I'm thinking dinner in the hotel unless you want something else." He wasn't interested in traveling to far just to eat.
"That will work. I'll be back." Kate gathered up her clothes and shoes and went down to the bathroom where she showered off the pool water.
Finished, she went back upstairs. "Your turn." Kate made herself comfortable on the bed and waited.
