Chapter 27: The Greatest Challenger 4 – Yellow Vs Omega Ruby

"That's bad…" Dawn looks worriedly at the battle "Greninja managed to practically beat Latios and then…"

"Cresselia used Lunar Dance to give Latios its full strength back" Brock stares at Latios critically "It looks as good as new while Ash's Pokemon…"

"Don't you dare lose now Ash!" Barry jumps on his seat, hollering for the stadium to hear "I'm gonna fine you!"

In the Champion's Booth…

"I don't know what's more surprising, the Greninja transformation or Cresselia's purpose for this battle" Charles shakes his head, deep in thought "I have to wonder what's with trainers these days"

"A great tactic, one that's most likely used as a last resort" Cynthia smiles thinly at what happened "It's a Queen Sacrifice in essence. Sacrifice a piece for a tactical advantage… but I have the feeling that Tobias' King is more powerful than its queen…"

The old man nods at the Champion's words "Too true"

In the battlefield…

"Luster Purge! Bullet Style!"

Latios flies upwards and comes down raining balls of energy on Greninja.

"Night Slash to destroy them!" As Ash swipes horizontally his arm, Greninja does the same with the energy katana, which slices a sphere in half.

Soon after, Greninja zooms around the field destroying them before they made contact with the ground. That had the averse result of creating small explosions that wrecked the battlefield. It resembled more a warzone than a Pokemon League field.

"We go on the offensive, Greninja! Once again use Night Slash!"

Greninja turns to Latios and runs in his direction, katana ready for a slash.

"Fly at Greninja at full speed!"

Ash quickly noted that while Latios is a fast Pokemon, it's not as fast as it was with the power up from Dragon Dance… Still, Latios has Giga Impact at its disposition which is a move to be wary of… "Jump above Latios! Attack him from the sky!"

Greninja readies to jump, but Tobias calls out another command at that moment…

"Dragon Dance!"

And just like that Latios started flying faster, enough to make Greninja fail in his assault "Gre!?" The Ninja Pokemon exclaims at its falling to the ground.

Tobias smirks at this "Quickly! Turn around and get him with Giga Impact!"

Latios, does a fast U-turn, getting covered in the energy of Giga Impact in the process. Greninja couldn't do a thing as it was plowed by the Eon Pokemon right into the wall of the battlefield.

Ash's breath is taken from his lungs as he falls to the ground from the impact that Greninja just received "This bond hurts like hell!" Shakily, Ash raises to a standing position, warily staring at Latios "We have to end this… quickly!"

To the side of the field, Greninja lays in a pile of rubble from the wall that Latios demolished. He slowly gets up and agrees with his trainer's feelings "N-Ninja!"

"Double Team!"

"Ninja!"

Clones of the Ninja Pokemon appear along the battlefield. Tobias looks around and everywhere he turns he sees copies of Greninja.

Ash raises pulls his hand from his back and raises his arm as if holding something "Now Greninja! Use Water Shuriken!"

Greninja raises the shuriken on his back to the sky just as Ash did, willing his clones to obey its command. The clones turn in to water that soon converges into the shuriken, making it bigger each second.

"Is trainer Ash creating a gigantic Water Shuriken by using Greninja's Double Team!? I've never seen something like this!"

"And you won't!" Ash smirks seeing Greninja with the shuriken ready to attack "Now run and hit Latios with the Water Shuriken!"

Greninja hefts the giant shuriken with it two webbed hands, as if it was a great sword. The Ninja Pokemon makes his way towards Latios who wasn't sitting idle.

"I don't know how strong that thing is, but you're stronger, Latios!" Tobias' eyes narrow on the improvised move "Counter with Dragon Dance and Giga Impact!"

Latios power ups with Dragon Dance, energy dancing along its body, and quickly soars towards Greninja, intent on ending this battle.

As Latios quickly approaches, Greninja plants his feet on the ground and spins around, generating enough inertia to meet the Giga Impact with the Water Shuriken "Gre…!"

"La…!"

Both Pokemon meet in the middle of the battlefield, a sonic boom heard along Lily of the Valley Island.

"Ninja!"

"Tios!"

A palpable pressure is felt across the stadium. Both Ash and Tobias grit their teeth, feeling the power of their partners weigh down on them. The Pokemon struggle to push as much as they can, Greninja trying to stop Latios while the latter tries to overpower the other.

The ground trembles by the power exerted by the two Pokemon.

It was just one moment, but Ash saw Greninja flinch slightly… 'You're still feeling that Giga Impact?'

'Ninja…'

Ash closes his eyes and clenches his fists "It's not over, Greninja… You know how important this battle is… we can't lose Greninja you hear me!?" Ash bellows at the top of his lungs, somehow overcoming the sound the clash of Pokemon made.

"G-Gre?" Greninja, who was starting to lose ground, turns to his partner "Gre!"

"That's right Greninja!" Ash nods at his partner, as if understanding something… "Push forward and never look back! All our feelings… all our power… all our will… push it into that Water Shuriken!"

Greninja looks at his partner for what felt like a minute, but actually was a second and turns back to matching glares with Latios "Gre…!"

"That's right Greninja! Use Night Slash with the Water Shuriken!"

Something snaps in Greninja who bellows as loud as his trainer did as he unleashes all his power "NINJA!" The edge of the giant shuriken turns black and seems to be affecting Latios much more than before "GRENINJA!"

"Latios push harder! You cannot be defeated by Greninja!" Tobias also encourages his Pokemon "We won't lose here!"

Both Pokemon push harder for their trainers, but the reinvigorated Greninja takes advantage of its newfound strength and steps aside, breaking the stalemate. As Latios sails forward due to the missing opposition, Greninja jumps to the sky, the Giant blue and black Shuriken held with both hands above his head like a sword.

"Latios watch out!" Tobias desperately calls at his partner, alarmed about the dangerous situation "Get away!"

Latios stops its charge and turns around to see Greninja coming at him from above.

"Now!" Ash and Greninja synchronize further as the latter, still high in the air, brings down the black coated Shuriken unleashing a powerful wave of water and dark energy that looked like a crescent moon.

The energy blade comes down on Latios before he could react. Latios could not dodge and was slammed to the battlefield in a huge explosion that made the spectators feel like an earthquake move was used.

A cloud of dust covers the battlefield, obscuring the result of the assault for the onlookers.

Tobias' stares nervously at the dust cloud 'I… I never had a battle this hard in my whole life' the internal debate he's been having for a while now 'Darkrai was enough for me each time I battled… this… this is a battle I want to win, but I don't want it to end…'

The dust settles enough to see Latios still floating, a shining coat of energy covering him…

'Light Screen…' Tobias smirks at his Pokemon's quick thinking 'I owe you one, Latios…'

In the Hall of Origins…

"Considering that this screen is supposed to be all-seeing…" Keldeo mumbles under his breath, annoyed at not being able to see what happened.

"Indeed" He turns to see Calyrex peacefully drinking a tea along a green and black Pokemon that Keldeo knew as Zarude "This is an interesting battle and I want to know what happens with that Ketchum boy"

"The wait is bloody killing me!" Zarude complains loudly to everyone's annoyance, even if they kind of agreed.

Keldeo turns to see Arceus looking pensively at the screen "What is Arceus thinking?"

Arceus for his part was in the middle of a mental rant 'The frog used the Water Shuriken like that fox boy from the ninja world… it used the katana like the pirate from the pirate world… and now it improvised a move that is like that orange haired one from the Shinigami world… I can't believe this…'

In the battlefield…

Finally after a tense few seconds, the dust settles and not only Greninja is shown completely knocked out, probably from exertion, but also its trainer.

Ash Ketchum lays on his back, completely knocked out…

In the stands…

"ASH!" Dawn looks wide eyed at her friend, who was knocked out on the ground "What happened!?" She stands up and makes to run to the battlefield, Brock hot on her tail.

She manages to arrive to the tunnel that leads to the battlefield but a few bouncers stopped them.

"You can't go inside the battlefield, there is a battle right now"

"That person on the ground is our friend" Brock stands at his full stature and confronts the bouncer who didn't look happy at all with their attitude "You will let us pass"

Dawn was ready to kick one of them in the balls when a flash of light stopped them…

In the battlefield…

The Referee runs towards Ash as Pikachu tries to wake him up.

"Pika…" Pikachu slightly slaps the Pallet Town trainer to make him come back from unconsciousness "Pi…"

"Bring a stretcher now!" The referee calls on his earpiece "Trainer Ash Ketchum has fallen unconscious for unknown reasons!" He was about to approach Ash, but Pikachu raised his palm as if to stop him "I need to move your trainer to help him, step aside"

"Pika!" Pikachu pushes the referee away and the man stepped back, trying to discern what the Pokemon tried to do. Satisfied, Pikachu turns towards Ash and jumps on his stomach "PI… KA… CHU!"

Tobias, the referee and the whole audience flinch as Pikachu discharges several volts of electricity on Ash, who jumped to his feet as if he was a machine that was kick-started by a shock.

"AH!" Ash's eyes are wide as he stares around, his hair frazzled due to the electricity "Why did you do that Pikachu!?"

In the void…

"A classic" Darkrai sweat drops "I wondered when he would get a little shock in this story"

"What story are you talking about?" Alola-Ash looks suspiciously at the Pokemon.

"Nothing…"

In the battlefield…

After assuring everyone that he was fine, including the referee, Ash was allowed to take a five minutes break to clean up. Dawn and Brock approached him and fussed over him, the former having kicked the nuts of a bouncer to get to him.

In those moments, he called Greninja out to thank him for all his effort. Latios looked worse for wear after that move Greninja pulled off, so he told the Pokemon that he would take care of everything from now on.

The five minutes went by fast and Ash stood in his side of the battlefield once again. In front of him, Tobias and Latios waited for him to make his move…

Ash looks down and smirks "You're full of energy today buddy, you're on"

Pikachu smirks as he jumps into the battlefield, sparks coursing his body "Pika!"

"And Trainer Pikachu brings his Pikachu as his fifth Pokemon! Is Tobias making a comeback this late in the battle!? Who will stand after this battle!?"

"We're not underestimating any of your Pokemon from now on, Ash Ketchum!" Tobias shouts at him, looking dead serious as he did "We go all out!"

"I wouldn't want it any other way, Tobias!" Ash smirks as he looks at his partner "Pikachu all out from the get go! Quick Attack into Iron Tail!"

Pikachu almost blurs as he runs towards Latios, who looks surprised by the Electric Mouse's speed.

"That's nothing!" Tobias seems excited about this battle now "Show him you're faster Latios! Use dodge and counter with Luster Purge!"

If Pikachu was almost a blur, then Latios practically teleported behind Pikachu as he unleashed a beam of Luster Purge.

As the beam approached Pikachu, Ash smirks at this "Pikachu full speed ahead and use Electroweb!"

Pikachu runs as fast as it can as the beam soars after him. Hearing his trainer's command, Pikachu smirks as he charges a ball of electricity on his tail and shots it towards the wall with a front jump. Just as Pikachu jumped forward, the ball expands as a web that is attached to the wall and the ground.

Pikachu lands on the web and shots off to the sky as the Luster Purge impacts the wall.

"What!?" Everyone looks up as Pikachu descends over Latios, tail lit up with steel type energy.

"Now Pikachu!"

"Pika!" Pikachu slams a deadly Iron Tail on top of Latios who dropped to the ground with a loud thud "Pikachu!"

In the void…

"I guess the strongest Pikachu is a fair choice" Oak strokes his chin in thought "Its power and speed are off the charts…"

"Still I worry about Ash" Brock shakes his head "That Pokemon is strong, it's clear for everyone to see…"

"It is a Mega Evolved Pokemon, and a legendary one to booth" Sinnoh-Ash looks at the screen frowning… "If Tobias has a Mega Pokemon as a fifth Pokemon… what is his sixth one…?"

"I try to not think on that" Darkrai shrugs his wispy shoulders.

In the battlefield…

"Latios took a mean hit from that Pikachu!" The announcer looks down to his Rotom Phone, seeing that he managed to record that move well "I'm gonna get so many likes in PokeTube with this…"

On the ground, Tobias orders Latios to do another Dragon Dance seeing it still standing "One more time and we'll have Pikachu at out mercy!"

"We'll see" Ash smirks just like Pikachu "Dodge this then, Tobias! Pikachu use Pika-Pika Thunder!"

"Pi…KA!" Pikachu unleashes a bolt to the sky that soon descends towards Latios who looks bewildered at the power of the move.

"Fly away and dodge that!"

Latios takes to the sky and flies away, only to look in surprise as the move Pikachu used turned around and followed him upwards.

In the Champion's Booth…

"Pika-Pika Thunder? I never heard of that move" Charles Goodshow scratches his head over his hat in confusion.

"It must be a move he created with his Pikachu" Cynthia looks at the old man with a smile "Ash is really a promising challenger"

"You want to battle him?" Charles looks at her in surprise.

Cynthia merely looks back to the battlefield "I want to match my Pokemon with his own… to see whose bond with their Pokemon is stronger"

In the battlefield…

"Latios keep flying!" Tobias felt that he was in a very familiar situation right now. Last time though, it was Ash's Charizard on the run…

"We won't let that Latios get away this time, right Pikachu?" Ash pumps his fist to the sky "Give him more Pika-Pika Thunder now Pikachu!"

Yellow sparks cover Pikachu as he unleashes another thunder after Latios "Pi… ka!"

"We won't stop there! More, give them more thunders at them! Don't let them get away!"

"Pika! Pika! Pika!" Pikachu sent wave after wave of Pika-Pika Thunder at Latios who found himself under pressure as he dodged each and every electric trail to the best of his ability.

Latios weaves around several trails of thunder coming after him with no rest. Up, down, left, spin to the side, U-turn, roll to the side and in between two trails; Latios managed to evade the several electric type moves after him. It came to the point that Latios flew high in the sky, enough to dance around clouds…

Tobias seeing this, he looks down to Pikachu and shouts out "Latios take the party to them! Giga Impact on Pikachu now!"

Their connection was the only thing that connected Trainer and Pokemon as Latios was well above 2000mts. With speed unseen by most, Latios charges Giga Impact and flies down to Pikachu's general location, the stadium.

"That seems like a party to me!" Ash grins widely at this "Pikachu meet Latios with Iron Tail now! Use Electro Web to jump higher!"

As Latios flew down at him, Pikachu shots an Electroweb that to a few pieces of rubble that are high enough to create a trampoline. Pikachu jumps in over and over, all the time looking at Latios, whose altitude was around the 500mts above the stadium.

Each time Pikachu was higher and higher. The Pokemon though, waited for the right moment…

When Latios hit 100mts over the stadium, Pikachu jumps as high as the stadium and meets the Eon Dragon with an Iron Tail. With the force of a meteor, Latios slams into Pikachu's Iron Tail and both collision to the ground, followed by the Pika-Pika Thunders after him.

The explosion created by the crash was so big that it was seen from the Vista Lighthouse in Sunyshore City. A big column of yellow light followed the collision that went as far as to disturb the clouds in the sky.

Ash and Tobias were blown back by the shock wave while the Alakazam and Kadabra that usually deflected the moves that endanger the crowd were overexerting to keep the people safe.

When all was said and done, the battlefield looked like a crater and both Pokemon lay on the bottom of it completely unconscious. Latios was back to its normal form while Pikachu laid on top of it, a picture that brought back memories for Ash…

"It happened again…" He sweat drops as he gets up and brushes the dust off his clothes and hair "That was amazing Pikachu" Ash jumps down to the crater and slides to the bottom where he picks up Pikachu.

It was decided by the referee and Charles Goodshow that there will be another break, this time to fix the battlefield as it was currently unusable.

As the Alakazam fixed the field, Ash sat against the wall of the tunnel, brushing Pikachu's fur. His mind though, was far away 'We managed to reach Tobias' last Pokemon… and I have only two more Pokemon… Everyone's fate is in my hands…' He stops Pikachu's ministrations and looks at his hand 'I'll… I'll do my best for this but…'

Ash gets up and sees Dawn once again standing in front of him. It seems she came after him…

"Are you alright Ash?"

Ash looks at her and shakes his head "I'm fine, but Pikachu needs a big rest"

"I'll take care of him" Dawn smiles at him as she takes Pikachu "That's one crazy battle…"

"You tell me" Ash chuckles lightly as he pats the Pokeballs on his belt "But these two will do well, we'll beat Tobias!"

"Somehow I think that after this battle… the finals won't be that hard" Dawn chuckles at her own thoughts "So many legends and powerful Pokemon…"

"I think you're right…" Ash smiles at her, thinking on the last time he saw her… 'If I get back I have to get in contact with her… and all my friends' Here he looks up, a determined fire on his eyes "I will win… you'll see Dawn"

"I know" She turns around with Pikachu in her arms while Ash walks towards the battlefield… "Good luck, Ash"

"It seems that the Alakazam have finished with the field!" The announcer is heard, and true to his words, the battlefield looked as good as new.

Ash stands in his side of the field as Tobias walks up to his. Both trainers look ready to keep battling, both for different reasons, but they pushed them to do their best…

Tobias picks up a Pokeball that was purple on top and white below. Ash quickly recognized it as a Masterball. He picks out his own Pokeball, one completely red that had black lines in the section where it opens.

"Release your Pokemon!" The referee calls out and both trainers throw their Pokeball…

From Tobias' Pokeball come a gigantic bipedal white Pokemon whose head was yellow and had shrubs along its body.

"Re-Re-Regi…"

On Ash's side, another gigantic white Pokemon came out, this one though was quadruped. It had a golden lined mane that came from its face like a sun. On the center of its face there was a deep blue area that showed a starscape.

"Sol…"

Both Legendary Pokemon stared at each other, ready to battle…

-BREAK-

Hello everyone! Welcome to another chapter of the Pokemon Switch Up! I hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I did writing it. Finally we see Pikachu's rematch with Latios while Greninja is, unfortunately, felled.

I think there isn't much to explain here, so I'll go with some concrete things.

Greninja being a rip-off of several anime is part of its thing. The Rasenshuriken was too much back then, cool as hell, but it was quite obvious. Here it parodies Shishi Sonson and Getsuga Tensho in essence. The last move is a Special one, so Light Screen is effective against it.

Why Pikachu's battle with Latios was so short? Well that's easy. Latios was broken with THREE dragon dances at that point, so a Giga Impact that hits is certain to kill even Arceus. Sorry no sorry.

So next comes Solgaleo Vs. Regigigas. Yeah, Solgaleo isn't Ash's Pokemon in the anime, but it will be explained next chapter in those mini-flashbacks I do to explain the choices. There's not much to explain really, but I think I need to be clear on some things it seems.

I'll go onto reviews were I'll clarify some things from last chapter that weren't clear enough.

Reviews, here we go!

Hall Gowrt: No-one knows what fucking happened there with Shell Smash. End this with PM Ash entering the scene... or an all out duke between all the ashes and fucking Arceus!

ME: Shell Smash up the attack and speed while defence goes down. In trick room that means that your Pokemon will be slower, so the opponent becomes faster. Basically, imagine doing parkour at your own pace, something you're accustomed to. Then while getting ready for a jump, you suddenly find that you're faster and you botch the jump because your body is not accustomed to the speed up. That's it, basically. Slowking had a speed that it was accustomed and suddenly becomes faster, it will be hard to control. Ash played on that. As the attack power up was not affected, Skull Bash ended the battle quite easily. About your other review, I feel Avengers Endgame vibes, like other characters like Red from the manga, games, Ash from fanfics, the Brocks, May, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, Clemont, Serena, the Alola Gang, etc. Haha.

Toa Solaric: Poor Squirtle... he blast out of the stadium like Team Rocket, but Slowking was KO which is a good sight at least. If Tobias has Dynamax... I will shit myself at how this fic might end. I wonder who Lunar Dance will be on and what Ash's and Tobias's last Pokemon would be?

ME: Slowking normally would be broken, but the Trick Room with this Squirtle which was given a broken move due to the script's necessity… yeah. Yeah, he has Dynamax, but as there is no Power Spot… it was a little scare for readers. It actually plays on an idea that I have. I think Regigigas will have a Gigantamax form in the DLC. Well, the Lunar Dance was used in Latios, the only Pokemon that was injured that wasn't fainted.

reader0007: oh shit,is the last pokemon has something to do with gigantamax? i'm not really familiar with sword and shield so i'm not sure, but i have seen some of the meme,my guess is,gigantamax wailord? maybe 'accidentally' destroy the sinnoh region when he use body slam move? thats why slowking refer him as 'that pokemon',as if calling him by real name will summon him from the air,he-who-must-not-be-named.

ME: So a Moldyshorts Pokemon? I dig it. Haha. Nah I think that Regigigas will have a Gigantamax in the DLC Crown Tundra, due to the Regis coming out. D-Max Wailord would be broken, Lily of the valley Island would be gone like Atlantis.

Lightningblade49: Lunar Dance -_-...all that and latios is going to be at full strength again I really hope his last two pokemon nebby and a Pikachu that never got nerfed because me think something like a giratina or Rayqauaza is coming out last...great battle

ME: That's the thing, Full power Mega Latios against a tired Greninja. The end result of the battle proves what you thought. Not Giratina or Rayquaza, but Regigigas fit the bill as a big mean monster?

Lloryn: At the rate this is going it wouldn't surprise me if Tobias has a mew or a crazy overpowered regular pokemon that no one expects at this point just to throw everyone off. havenwe even seen Tobias' starter yet? Kind off curious as to what it would be.

ME: Regigigas qualifies as a crazy overpowered Pokemon, not regular though. Tobias starter… I don't know, really. I never thought of which Pokemon would be Tobias' starter. Due to the bond I would say maybe Cresselia or Slowking, but it was never thought. Think of Tobias as the typical Ash that starts with a legendary Pokemon that he befriends as a kid dunno.

thor94: so look tobias is sacrificing cresselia to heal latios. hope it won't really help the dragon and ash has some other hidden power up to kick mega latios, since tobias is kinda cheating with arceus helping him. And i bet the last tobias pokemon is arceus himself, if right, hope ash will call it bullshit and it is only a biased direct ingerence of arceus on league (and human) business to make ash lose. Also you should have ash finally snap and threat arceus to drop his chosen one duties and next time his club of legendaries and regions of the world are in trouble, ash tell them to cope on their own since when he is helping, they reward him with curse and punishment.

ME: Where is the drama in Greninja beating Latios. It makes more sense with Pikachu I think. Think of the drama! Not Arceus, but Regigigas is up there I think. Ash threatening everyone would be cool, but I have a better solution I think. For all I know I'll be flamed like the author of Domekano for the end of the story, dunno.

OC-Trainer-Gray: The Partner Pikachu is based the gigantamax Factor Pikachu, who is based off of Ash's Pikachu, meaning, Ash's Pikachu's stats directly mirror that of the Partner Pikachu. The three possibilities to that statement, I doubt it's Dynamax, so either Gigantamax or, the final boss of the SwSh, and I am really hoping the latter isn't the case.

ME: Sorry to disappoint, but it was stated last chapter that there is no Power Spot in Lily of the Valley, but Regigigas is a good replacement I think as it is a proper legendary. On a side note, I have the theory that Regigigas will have a Gigantamax in the DLC, may justify this in the future, who knows?

Guest #1: Last Pokémon Arceus or Eternatus eternamax

ME: Sorry not sorry

Guest #2: Oh my god he was gonna dynamax? What else is he gonna pull out Mew with with its Z Move?

ME: Ash's lucky that Dynamax is Galar's thing mainly. Mew doesn't seem like a Pokemon for a gloomy person like Tobias. Maybe Ash, but not Tobias.

Lunar Moon Butterfly: Gosh dangit. Now I have to wait.

ME: Hopefully not too much.

That's all the reviews for now! Hope you are enjoying the climax of this story! It's coming to an end in three chapters! Without much more to say, I bid you goodbye for now!

Cya!
