ORANGE STAR HIGH SCHOOL

Videl's first day back at school is about to end as she goes out to the school building to activate her helijet. Though if she has a choice, she does not want to go home just yet. If she has a choice, she would like to spend some time with that Saiyan classmate of hers.

But he has to go home early because he just had his father back after seven years.

She was about to throw the capsule on the ground when Rayon approached her.

RAYON: Videl!

She looked at him nonchalantly.

RAYON: I was wondering... Maybe you could help me meet your father?

VIDEL: Oh yeah! Don't worry. I'll tell him that one of my classmates is a fan of his. Which is not unusual because he already knows people adore him.

RAYON: What I mean is... maybe I could meet him tonight?

Videl sensed what Rayon wants to do. He wants to go to her house, maybe talk to her father, but definitely spend some time with her. She continued her apathetic demeanor and tried to shrug him off.

VIDEL: I'm not quite sure about that. I think I need to check on his schedule first. Maybe next time? Like, next year or maybe next decade? He's kind of full, you know, his schedule.

Now, that is already an obvious rejection. Videl thought that would be enough to dismiss him, but Rayon is really the persistent type.

RAYON: Maybe if I go there tonight, then he will see me, and he will make time for me. I'm sure the world champion is kind enough to make time for a fan... But, if he's really busy, then maybe we could just spend some time together...

Okay, no more beating around the bush. Rayon already said his intentions straightforwardly. Videl thinks it's also time for her to do the same.

VIDEL: Look, Rayon. I get it. I get what you want to imply. You see, I'm already in love with someone.

For a while, Rayon seems dumbfounded. Maybe it's because he's not expecting Videl to be that bold. But it didn't take long for him to recover.

RAYON: Is it him?

Videl frowned.

VIDEL: What do you mean?

RAYON: Gohan.

She was surprised, alright. But that is not enough to faze her. She just looked at him without confirming his allegations.

RAYON: I saw how you looked at each other... back there while you were pinned down during the fight.

Now, that made Videl blush. It's because she was guilty of Rayon's accusations. She's aware that she may have displayed her emotions back there as she looked at Gohan having that urge to kiss him at that moment. Good thing her logic came back in time and she was able to stop herself and focus on the fight.

She looked away to hide the embarrassment she's feeling.

VIDEL: Well, now you know. I guess you would stop persuading me.

RAYON: Me? Oh no, never.

She looked at him, quite surprised at what he said.

RAYON: I won't stop. I still think I'm the one you should date. I'm the one who's more worthy of you, and not just a nerdy martial artist wannabe.

VIDEL: What did you say?

RAYON: Gohan might have defeated me, but didn't you see? That wasn't martial arts, it's just plain street fight he's doing. He wouldn't know since he just learned fighting a few weeks ago just to join the tournament. I have years of experience and that's not how you do a proper match.

Videl glowered at him. How conceited can this man get? Does he even know what he's talking about?

RAYON: I'll let it pass this time, but I won't stop until I make you mine, Videl. And no one will stop me, especially not that Gohan!

Rayon walked out, leaving Videl astonished and enraged at the same time.

VIDEL: What an arrogant person! Surely, you don't know what you're talking about!

She remembers the fight Rayon and Gohan had during their PE subject.

VIDEL: If you knocking onto the wall is not yet an indication that Gohan is way out of your league, then you're in big trouble. He could send you miles away with just one push.

Oh well, Rayon is determined to believe his resolve. Videl concluded that she could not do anything about that anymore. But, should she be worried? Rayon sounded like a crazy stalker of some sort.

VIDEL: What a creep.

She just shook her head to dismiss the thought, then again prepared to throw the capsule on the ground.

GOHAN: Videl!

Her hand stopped mid-air. She turned around, and finally the person she would like to see the most comes walking towards her. He's smiling at her shyly, making her smile at his cuteness.

VIDEL: Hey...

Gohan smiled at her, blushing slightly due to embarrassment.

VIDEL: Going home?

GOHAN: Yeah...

He grimaced. That made her giggled.

VIDEL: So... how's your family? Is your father doing well?

GOHAN: Yes... he's fine. Mom's never been so happy.

VIDEL: I can only imagine...

Gohan gazed at her, and for a moment Videl's heart rate doubled. Again, she felt that feeling that only Gohan could give her, a mixture of joy, excitement, warmth, self-consciousness and a whole lot more she could not specifically recognize.

VIDEL: Uhm... I think... you should go now...

Why does it feel like her throat is dry?

VIDEL: I mean... you need to travel far away...ha ha...

She laughed awkwardly. Yeah, Gohan seems to melt away all the confidence she has making her unable to think of the right words to say.

GOHAN: I could fly fast...

Videl looked at him. Right. He could fly fast he could travel around the world in just an hour. Or maybe two? She doesn't know. What she knows is he could fly so fast he can go home whatever time he wants, and he could still make it to dinner.

VIDEL: Right... you could...do that...

Videl looked away. She's quite confused as to how she is acting right now, to think that this is not the first time she had a crush on someone. But before, even if she's faced with someone she likes so much, she's still cool and does not lose her wit.

Only now.

Her smartwatch suddenly beeped, signaling a call from their butler.

VIDEL: Yes?

BUTLER: Ms. Videl, Master Satan ordered me to remind you about your sparring session with him today.

VIDEL: Right... (looks at Gohan) I'm about to go home.

BUTLER: Okay, Miss. That's all.

The call ended. Videl gazed at Gohan, who obviously was disappointed at what he heard.

VIDEL: I have to go.

GOHAN: I understand.

Videl smiled at him, also quite disappointed that they have to end that encounter.

GOHAN: It seems like you and your dad are also catching up.

VIDEL: Yeah... everything has improved since what happened.

GOHAN: Oh yeah! By the way, thank you for covering up for me and the others.

VIDEL: It's okay. Actually, it's more like trying to retain my father's reputation... I'm sorry about that.

GOHAN: It's okay. I also would not like others to know the truth about me, and also my father and the others. You actually made a perfect cover story about that.

VIDEL: I'm glad you liked it.

They smiled at each other, but Videl knows she really have to go.

VIDEL: I have to go.

Gohan just nodded.

Videl threw the capsule to the ground, revealing her helijet. With one last look at Gohan, she went inside and started the engine.

VIDEL: (on her mind) One day, we'll have our time, Gohan...

She navigated the helijet through the afternoon sky, flying towards their lavish mansion at the heart of the city.

EAST DISTRICT, MOUNT PAOZU

It was story time for Goku and his family. They are gathered on the living room, and Goku is telling Goten and Gohan about his adventures in the afterlife. Chi-Chi is at the kitchen doing some chores.

It was almost nine and Goten seems to approach sleeping mode as he yawns while his father told them how he defeated Maraikoh by throwing him out of the ring and knocking him out.

GOHAN: Someone's already sleepy.

Goku looked at Goten whose eyes are half-closed already. He smiled.

GOKU: Guess we better get to bed now.

He was about to carry Goten, but Gohan stopped him.

GOHAN: Hey Dad!

GOKU: Huh?

GOHAN: Let me take Goten to our room.

Goku gazed at Gohan.

GOHAN: Goten has been sleeping with you and Mom since you got back. I kind of miss my roommate already.

Gohan smiled at his father, and the older Saiyan somehow understood what his son meant. Goku smiled back.

GOHAN: Hey Goten! You sleep on our room tonight, okay?

GOTEN: Hmn? But why? Can't I sleep with Dad tonight again?

GOHAN: Well, I feel kind of lonely sleeping alone at our room.

Goten stared at his brother. Gohan silently wished he grants his request. He knows his parents didn't have as much alone time as they need because Goten can't seem to get enough of their father, which is quite understandable; although, Gohan knows that his parents would like some alone time with each other as much as possible.

GOTEN: Okay, okay...

Goten said his goodnight to his father. At that moment, Chi-Chi finished her chores, joining them into the living room. She was surprised to see Goten go to bed without his father.

GOHAN: He's sleeping in our room tonight.

Gohan smiled at Chi-Chi as he followed his little brother to their bedroom. The little Saiyan child slipped unto the covers of his bed beside Gohan's. The older brother followed and laid down on the other bed.

GOHAN: Goten...

GOTEN: Hmn? What is it?

GOHAN: I know that you want to spend a lot of time with Dad; but you see, Mom also wants to spend more time with him. Since you already play with him all day - well, after you've done your homework - I hope you let him spend the night with Mom alone.

Goten gazed at Gohan, seemingly contemplating the thought on his sleepy head.

GOTEN: Okay.

Gohan smiled. He reached out to his head and scratched it gently.

GOHAN: Thank you.

The young kid closed his eyes and dozed off to sleep. Gohan also closed his eyes and prepared to sleep himself.

GOHAN: Goodnight, Goten.

ORANGE STAR HIGH SCHOOL

As Erasa entered their classroom, her gaze immediately shot up to where her seat is. That moment, Sharpner is already there. He has always been an early bird. Beside him is Videl who is unusually early today. Both of them are engaged in a conversation of some sort.

Upon seeing Videl, Erasa looked down making her way inside the classroom. But instead of sitting on her chair beside Videl, she suddenly went on passing them.

Videl noticed Erasa as she approached them. She was about to greet her, but she was surprised when Erasa walked pass them.

VIDEL: Erasa!

Erasa turned around. She forced a smile as she looked at Videl.

ERASA: Oh! Hi Videl!

VIDEL: Where are you going?

ERASA: There at the back. I think I want to sit there today. See yah!

Erasa went on and sat on a chair at the back of the room, much to Videl and Sharpner's confusion.

VIDEL: What's wrong with Erasa?

SHARPNER: Maybe she's not in the mood. It's one of those days, I guess.

Videl looked at her friend, still wondering what made her sit on the far side of the classroom.

VIDEL: (on her mind) Erasa never sat that far from us since we became classmates. What is wrong with her today?

After a while, Gohan arrived in the class. He instantly noticed Erasa's absence as he sat down his chair.

GOHAN: Is Erasa not coming to school today?

VIDEL: She's up there.

Videl pointed where Erasa is sitting. Gohan followed her finger and looked on.

GOHAN: Huh? Why is she up there?

VIDEL: I don't know. She also didn't tell us. She just said she wants to sit there.

Gohan looked at Erasa trying to figure out what has gotten to their friend. When Erasa caught him looking, she smiled at him. But it was just for a few seconds as she immediately looked away again.

Rayon then arrived at the classroom. He immediately looked at Videl, giving her that feisty look representing his determination to pursue her. That made Videl feel quite uneasy.

VIDEL: Gohan...

Gohan looked at her.

GOHAN: Huh?

VIDEL: Can you sit beside me instead?

Videl looked at her, and Gohan saw that worried look on her face.

GOHAN: Of course.

Gohan sat beside Videl. As Rayon passed by Videl, he glanced at him making Gohan notice him. Somehow, the Saiyan teen realized why Videl seems agitated. He followed Rayon through his gaze.

Rayon was surprised to see Erasa sitting beside his seat. She smiled at him, and he was compelled to smile back. Erasa's friends noticed that.

SHARPNER: Do you think Erasa likes Rayon that's why she sat there?

No one answered Sharpner. Gohan does not know what to say as he has no idea about that. Videl is quite suspicious as to what is happening to her friend.

At lunch time, Erasa didn't join them as well. Instead, she joined Rayon on a separate table not far from her friends. Videl, Gohan and Sharpner watch as Erasa joyfully eats her lunch with Rayon.

SHARPNER: Now I'm positive. Erasa really has a thing for Rayon.

GOHAN: You think so?

SHARPNER: Well, that's how Erasa acts when she likes a guy. She's not the demure type, you know. When she likes someone, she makes sure he knows it.

Videl just listens to the two boys' conversation as she watches Erasa. She knows there's more to this sudden change in her. She vows to find out what it is before this day end.

After their last class, Videl tried to talk to Erasa before her best friend goes home. She found her at the gate waiting for her parents to pick her up.

Videl: Erasa!

She went beside her, fully aware that Erasa looked down upon seeing her come.

Videl: There's a new coffee shop at the downtown area. Want to check it out with me?

Erasa: Sorry, but... there's something that I need to do.

Erasa started to walk away, making Videl mad as she tries to follow her.

Videl: Erasa! What in the world is happening to you?

Erasa stopped. She turned to face Videl again.

Erasa: I don't understand what you're saying.

Videl: You've been avoiding us the entire day. Don't tell me nothing is up. You're not very good in keeping secrets, especially to me, your best friend.

Erasa: Oh yeah! You're my best friend, alright! Then why the hell did you keep your secret from me?

Videl frowned. What is she talking about?

Videl: What secret? I never hid anything from you.

Erasa: Then what about your feelings for Gohan?

Videl was dumbfounded. How did Erasa know about that?

Erasa: See? You can't say anything because it's the truth. How dare you say you're my best friend?

Videl: How did you know?

Erasa: I heard you talking to Rayon yesterday. I heard you tell him you're in love with Gohan.

Videl was speechless. Not only as an admission to what Erasa said about her feelings for Gohan, but also because of guilt that her accusations to her are true.

Truly, she had never lied to Erasa. She had never kept a secret from her. She is her best friend since elementary school, and she treats her as her sister. She tells her everything, except now.

Erasa: Why did you do that, Videl? Why didn't you tell me about it?

Erasa is evidently hurt. Videl feels more guilty as she looks at her questioning gaze.

Erasa: What if I'm also in love with Gohan? What if I also like him?

Now, that is something that Videl didn't realize. Erasa have always been the clingy type. Sometimes, Videl doesn't know if she's already flirty, or she's just being friendly. And she's acted like that towards Gohan a lot of times. What if she really is in love with him?

Videl: Are you?

Videl dreaded her answer to that question, especially the way Erasa is looking at her right now.

Erasa: What if I am?

Videl feels like crying. Of all the people on Earth, why does it have to be her best friend?

Videl: I guess... I guess I can't do anything about it.

She tried so hard to hold back the tears she's about to shed. That might be the worst situation she had been on her life - being in love with the same man that her best friend loves. She's not even sure what's worse between that or being beaten by Spopovich during the world martial arts tournament.

She froze. She looks at Erasa who is staring at her impassively. Erasa can't fall in love with Gohan! She can't know the truth about him and his family! She can't know his real identity as the Great Saiyaman and the real hero during the Cell Games!

But... so what? So, what if Gohan is really that kind of person? Surely, Erasa would accept him whoever he is if she truly loves him. She has known Erasa long enough to say that she's an open-minded person. She can accept those facts about Gohan, and she even would love him more for that.

Erasa: What's wrong?

Erasa is frowning at her. Videl suddenly gets anxious.

Videl: Nothing... I just... Gohan... he's different.

Erasa: What do you mean by that?

Videl looks away. It something that she does when she's hiding something, when she wants to be honest but she just can't say the truth.

Videl: I... I can't say anything. But if you really love him, then you need to accept everything about him.

She looked down. If only she can tell Erasa everything. She trusts her friend but will she even believe if she told her the truth about Gohan?

Erasa: Just like that?

Now, that is unexpected. Videl suddenly looks up to her.

Erasa: You're just giving up like that? You won't even tell me to back off because you think you should be Gohan's girlfriend and not me?

Videl is now confused. She frowned at Erasa.

Erasa: Oh, come on, Videl! I know Gohan is obviously in love with you as well... Well, I just kind of noticed that just now that I found out about how you feel for him... Regardless, you should still be brave enough to fight for your love. Use the courage you have when fighting those criminals as you strive to keep the peace on our city. Don't let any other girls do their thing on Gohan. I tell you, especially now that Gohan has proven he is not only smart but strong as well, girls would surely flock around him before you know it.

Videl: Wait... You don't really like him?

Erasa giggled.

Erasa: I made you nervous back there, huh?

What the! So Erasa has been playing around all this time?!

Erasa: Of course, I like Gohan, but not the way you like him. He's a nice person and he's really a good friend. Though, I must admit I started having a crush on him when he joined the martial arts tournament, but it's just that. I kind of realized that he's not the one for me, especially when I found out about how you feel about him. I kind of realized you're perfect for each other.

Videl blushed. She can't even look at Erasa right now, due to embarrassment. Erasa kind of felt that.

Erasa: Hey! Don't be shy! Like I've said, he is obviously in love with you as well. You might not notice it, but he kind of looks differently at you.

Videl felt glad about what Erasa said. She can't suppress the smile on her lips as she looks at her friend who is also smiling at her right now.

Erasa: But, there's something that you have to tell me still.

Videl: (frowns) What is that?

Erasa: You told me that Gohan is different.

Why did she even say those things earlier? Videl regrets being so careless.

Erasa: What does that mean? And please, don't keep anything from me anymore because I'm not forgiving you next time.

Videl looks at Erasa. Can she really tell her everything? Surely, she can make her promise to keep everything a secret. Erasa has proven that to her multiple times already. But can she really trust her with this one?

Erasa: What? You won't tell me? Now I'm really getting mad at you, Videl!

Videl grimaced.

Videl: Okay, but... can you promise to not tell anyone? Even Sharpner? Even your parents?

Erasa: As if I tell them anything. If I had then they won't allow me to attend school and just go home schooling.

Erasa giggled. Videl is aware of the naughty things that Erasa has been doing, especially with boys. At first, she tried to talk her out of it, but she just shrugged her off. She learned to not give a care about it as Erasa is also not bugging her about her being boyish and single and still a virgin at sixteen.

Erasa: Still not talking?

It seems that she has no choice. Videl suddenly surrendered.

Videl: Okay, fine. But I can't tell you here. Let's go to my place.

Erasa: Sure.

The two of them went to Videl's house. Upon arriving they went straight to her room.

Videl: Now, before I tell you everything, promise me that you keep an open mind and don't judge Gohan... or my father.

Erasa: Okay, but... what does this have to do with your father?

Videl: You'll know.

Videl told her everything that she knows about Gohan and his family, including him being a half-Saiyan. In the process, Erasa found out the reality about Mr. Satan. At first, she can't believe it, but slowly she was able to accept all the truths that Videl told her.

Erasa: Wow... just... wow...

Videl: Yeah...

Erasa: That is... unbelievable! At nine years old...?

Videl: I also can't believe it myself, but you were there, right? You saw him during the tournament.

Erasa: Yeah, but... what Mr. Satan said about Babidi controlling him was more believable.

Videl: I know... I guess my father is good in making people believe. After all, he won't be the world's champion if he wasn't able to convince people about him beating Cell.

Erasa: I promise I won't tell anyone about it. But, how cool is it? The Great Saiyaman who happens to be the Golden Fighter as well is actually my friend!

Erasa suddenly became excited. Videl is glad that that went well.

Erasa: But wait... so, are you two dating now?

Videl blushed once again.

Erasa: I'll take that as a no.

Videl: I don't know... we haven't talked about it yet.

Erasa: Oh, come on, you guys!

Videl grimaced. She knows Erasa is aware that this is the first time she's doing this kind of stuff. She knows how naïve she could get when it comes to dating.

Erasa: Fine! I'll help you.

Videl: What are you gonna do?

Erasa: Just leave it to me.

Videl is glad that she and Erasa are okay again, and that everything about them is resolved. Although, she's kind of a little concerned about what she's planning for her and Gohan. Whatever it is, she hopes it's not something that will force Gohan into telling her how she really feels for her. As much as she wants Gohan to confess, she wants it to come from him naturally.

Although, she's excited to see what Erasa can do to help their love story progress.
