"Why are you in that? Aren't ultrasounds done with that gel on your stomach?" Scott asked after seeing her.

"Eventually, but Carrie will be too small for that. Beast will use another way for now." Scott nodded and sighed.

"How long do you think we'll have to wait?"

"I'm here now, Mr. Summers." Beast walked over to the sink and washed his hands, turned the machine on, and pulled on some gloves. "Are you ready?" He asked Madelyne. Madelyne nodded and scooted her body to the edge of the table. Scott held her hand and watched the screen for their child.

"Is that her?" He asked, seeing a blip on the screen.

"Y- hm…" Beast said, looking at the machine and frowning.

"What's 'hm'? Is everything ok?" Madelyne asked, slightly panicked.

"They are just fine, dear."

"Ok good," she said, relaxing.

"I'm sorry- did you say they?"

"I did. Do you see this right here?" He asked, pointing to a spot on the screen. "That's one. And over here," he said, pointing to a different part of the screen, "is two."

"Scott."

"I don't- I don't know."

"And if you see this line, that's the amniotic sac. There are two, so you are having fraternal twins. Congratulations, you too. Looks like Carrie will have a brother or a sister." Madelyne was in a shocked silence as Beast continued to take measurements of the babies to insure they were growing correctly.

"Um, Beast?"

"Yes Scott?"

"Are you sure there's more than one?"

"I am."

"But… why didn't I meet Carrie's twin when I went to the future? Why can't Maddie hear both babies telepathically?"

"Timelines can change. I'm unsure, Scott. You were told not to completely rely on the future you saw to make your decisions here. As for why Madelyne can't hear two, maybe she can, but just assumed it was one?"

"I need- I need Hepzibah. And Grandma Summers." Scott nodded and went to the com unit in the room.

"I need Mom and Grandma in Med Lab, please," he called over it.

"Is everything ok?" Chris asked.

"I think so. Maddie's just asking for them."

"They'll be down in a minute." Scott went to the door to look for them and also keep Madelyne's privacy. Once he saw them, he opened the door and ushered them in.

"Maddie, dear, is everything alright?" Deborah asked, walking to her. Madelyne grabbed her hand.

"There's two." Hepzibah walked over and stroked Madelyne's hair.

"Hepzibah does not understand."

"It's not just Carrie," Scott said, still by the door. "She's pregnant with twins."

"You didn't know?"

"No. I will be having a few words with Nathan, though. I don't understand why he didn't tell us." Madelyne closed her eyes and breathed.

"It's Carrie and Nathan."

"What? Babe, no. Nathan is several years younger than Carrie." Madelyne looked at Scott.

"It's Nathan."

"Maddie-"

"I wouldn't advise arguing with a pregnant woman, Scott," Beast said as he began printing pictures for the two. "And I'll step out so you can get dressed, Madelyne." Madelyne nodded absently and Beast left the medical area.

"Get dressed, dear," Debbie prompted. Madelyne walked to the bathroom in a daze, coming out a few minutes later dressed.

"Scott?" Scott walked over to her and hugged her. "What do we do?" Scott tightened his hold.

"We plan our wedding. We get married. We become parents to two amazing kids. Hey, at least this way, you won't have to be pregnant twice." Madelyne's fist grasped Scott's shirt tightly.

"I don't make it to his first birthday."

"But you made it to Carrie's sixth birthday, and now they'll be here together. You're not getting away from me that easily, Maddie." Madelyne nodded.

"I think I'd like to spend some time with them," she said.

"Ok. Where would you like me to take you?" She shook her head.

"I want it to just be me and the three of them."

"Whatever you want. Go on up to the suite. I'll send them to you." Madelyne nodded and handed Scott the printouts from the ultrasound. He took them and carefully folded them together as Madelyne rushed out.

"Grandma?"

"Yes, Scott?"

"Please don't tell anyone."

"I won't, but you should. You'll need your family's support."

"I will, but… Alex's parents don't know and I can't…"

"I understand, son."

"Scott-boy should tell Corsair."

"I will, Mom. I just need some time to process this. Um. I'm going to go find Nathan. He was rooming down here to make space for the Masters'." Scott left Med Lab and went to the room his son was staying in and knocked.

"Hey Dad," Nathan said, opening the door. "How's Mom? How's Carrie?" Scott entered the room, handed Nathan the pictures and waited. Nathan looked at them and looked at Scott, confused.

"Notice anything strange about them?"

"I'm not sure."

"One," Scott said, pointing where Beast had shown him, "two." Nathan sat on the bed.

"Twins."

"She's positive it's you and Carrie."

"I don't understand. Carrie's supposed to be older than me?"

"So this is new to you?"

"Of course it is. Why wouldn't it be?"

"No one told you if she lost Carrie's twin?"

"No. I would have told you, or at least Grandpa so he would know what was coming." Scott took a breath and sat next to Nathan.

"She thinks she's going to die after the twins are born."

"Then we don't let her." Scott rubbed his face.

"She wants you three up in the suite with her today. Don't tell her I told you, ok? And don't tell Nate or Carrie." Nathan nodded and stood up.

"Everything will be fine, Dad." Scott nodded and took the pictures back. Nathan walked out of the room and Scott tried to calm his pounding heart before he left the room as well. He went back into the dining room and saw Jean trying to have a peaceful conversation with Chris. Scott walked over and looked at them.

"Hey, kid."

"Hi."

"Everything go ok?" Scott nodded and Chris patted his back. "Setting in that that's what's happening yet?"

"No more than seeing them walking around. Jean, isn't the car leaving soon?"

"It is. I was just trying to talk to my goddaughter's grandfather and… bury the hatchet a little deeper."

"Do you need help getting your suitcase to the car?"

"Sure. Merry Christmas, Chris."

"Merry Christmas, Jean." Jean led Scott to the front door where her things were waiting.

"What's going on?"

"Has Maddie said anything… strange to you about her pregnancy?" he asked, carrying her things outside.

"She was acting… accepting when she asked me to be Carrie's godmother. She said she was worried things were going to be different this time. Why? What's going on?"

"You can sense the baby, right?"

"I can. Lately it's been harder, almost confusing."

"There's two."

"Carrie and Nate together?"

"That's what she said."

"Ok. Everything will be fine. Just… don't let her leave the property alone while we're all gone." Scott scoffed.

"It's like you think I can control her."

"Then get the kids involved."

"I know it's asking a lot because you deserve a break, but could you please just… text her and help me check on her?"

"Of course. We have wedding plans to discuss. Like who her other bridesmaids are, and who your groomsmen are. I'll be back before New Years to go dress shopping. Hey," she said, putting her hand on Scott's arm. "Talk to your dad."

"I don't think it's a good idea right now with Alex's parents being here."

"Ok." Jean started walking back into the mansion and Scott ran after her to keep up.

"What are you doing?" he hissed angrily behind her. Jean went back into the dining room where she saw Chris talking to the Masters'.

"Chris? Scott was supposed to ask you to take him into the city to look for a gift for Maddie. Rogue will be here to handle security, as will Nathan and Nate."

"Oook. Scott?"

"Yeah. I m-meant to ask you the other day."

"And when I asked you specifically this morning what your plans were?" Scott shrugged and looked at Jean.

"Nerves about the appointment," Jean covered. "I'd really recommend going. Take Gabe, too. That'll give Alex some one-on-one time with his parents without feeling awkward."

"Scott?" Scott nodded and Chris turned to Alex's parents. "Would that be ok with the two of you? Alex can show you around the city. I'm sure Scott would be fine letting you borrow his car." Scott pulled out his keys and handed them to Chris.

"That sounds wonderful. Alex? Is this ok?"

"Yeah," Alex said, looking at Scott concerned. "I can take you guys to the diner Scott goes to all the time. They love him there, so Gabe and I get free fries just for being related."

"Ok," Chris said, standing up. "Let me go get Gabe. You can go tell Madelyne we're leaving." Scott nodded and the two left the table.

"Corsair?" Hepzibah called as the two were on the stairs. Chris stopped and turned.

"Yes my love?" Chris saw her look at Scott and he touched Scott's arm. "I'll meet you upstairs in a minute, ok?"

"Mom, please don't," Scott requested before taking off.

A/N: Isaias will be coming for me some time tomorrow (8/4) and while it's not expected to be a hurricane, tropical storms aren't a joke. We have a small gas powered generator, but with a two year old and being pregnant, there are more important things than plugging the WiFi in. Hopefully it just blows over and I can update on Wednesday, but we'll see.

Also, the comic Hellions is awesome. I'd suggest reading it if you can. And Cable (it's Teen Cable!)- I had to put it down for a minute because it just- good lord.
