Seeing Bonnie in the Halls lifted Samantha's spirits, she rushed to the other witch and hugged her tight, her powerful magic was a delicious rush to come into contact with. "Wow, your stronger." And she was, not by a massive margin but more then enough to notice. It was a wonderful feeling. "We have a problem, maybe."

Bonnie cringed, leaning with a suspicious but strong look. "Magical or not?"

"Maybe on both, Uncle John is here and I think he knows something. The council claimed my Dad knew things, I wouldn't put John out of the loop just yet. I need help to cast a spell to detect his actions. Divination spells. I touched him earlier and I am his blood so we can draw on that for the spell." From within her bag, she pulled out a bunch of cards " Taro cards from New Orleans, no power on their own but with the right spell..."

"We can detect his purpose here. Clever...okay, when do you want to cast it?"

"We have ten minutes before class, how bout now?"

Nodding, Bonnie turned to Vicki and offered her a warm smile. " Sorry, didn't mean to ignore you. How are you holding up?"

"Good, very good. But a little afraid with John here."

Bonnie nodded. "The guys a jackass, always had an issue with Elena playing with me as a kid. I'll be happy to expel his ass if he's a threat."

I knew I started to like you for a reason." The three of them shared a laugh, one of warmth and genuine understanding... just as they turned to see Caroline walking in with Matt, a happy look on their faces. "I can't believe I am saying thing, but I am glad they are hanging out. She's good for him and he's making her less of a cunt. "

Bonnie made a huh sound. " When did that start?"

"A few weeks ago... they are cute, no?"

"Yeah, they are... let's go cast this spell."

Quickly and as one, they found an empty classroom, one where science was usually taught and kids made out in between classes. It was empty at the moment, and people knew to knock so they were going to be safe. Quickly they found a seat and cast the cards, with Samantha casting her power into the cards with a simple touch. It was the easiest part of magic and even she could do it.

"Alright, Bonnie, just shuffle then cast the cards. Your magic will pick through the cards and give our reading. It's actually really easy, New Orleans Witch use this method a lot."

Bonnie nodded and did as she asked, pulling each of the cards. " Ten of Swords... what does that mean?"

"It means... we are in for a backstabbing or some kind of tragedy... or maybe he is. Either way it is going to be some kind of unwelcome surprise, like really any visit from him... This isn't pinpoint, just general... what's next."

Bonnie pulled the next card. "Five of Pentacles... what?"

"The Five of Pentacles typically points to a time of financial strife, poverty and adversity and indicates that you have suffered a significant financial loss or failure. This card shows the many faces of material misfortune and lack, including loss of funds, general poverty, illness, unemployment, and solitude. I can see it being tied to the loss of my parents or maybe something else... either way someone, maybe us, maybe him... is in need for spiritual growth of some type... but it is not really a good card, not a bad one either... this reading is proving to be quite bad."

The last card was cast and with it came a stopping of Samantha's breath. " The Tower... this isn't good. Something big is going to happen, something that shatters our peace... it can lead to good but so rarely does... this reading... we have to worry now. Battle stations girls, this is not a good thing."

"... And he mentioned vampires and supernatural legacy of our town. He claims to be mainly a historian but that does not mean that we can just let this slide. We have to keep an eye on him. My wife will be leading him about. For the time being keep your eyes open. Sheriff, can you look into his past, see what kind of man we are dealing with?" Mayor Lockwood turned to Liz Forbes, his eyes expectant and commanding.

The much more badass person, in Damon's biased opinion, turned to him and nodded. " Of course, anything. He sound's suspicious enough as it is."

"Thank you Sheriff. And on to a more pressing issue, John Gilbert has asked to say a few words." Damon turned to the man, who just radiated douchiness. "Welcome back John, it's good to see you."

Taller then average with short hair and a constant bored look, John looked nothing like Samantha or Elena or even Jeremy. "Hello everyone, it's wonderful to see you, I wish it were under better circumstances. As a founding family member I find it's my duty to report some very distressing news.

Needing to know more, Damon leaned in to the Sheriff. "Are you sure he's a Gilbert, he looks nothing like his family."

"I've been asking the same thing for years, none of Greyson's decency. I call him Jackass.

"A hospital blood bank in the neighboring county of Amherst has reported several break ins over the past two weeks. Seven hunters, Four campers and two states employees have been reported missing as well. All of this within a seventy five-mile radius of Mystic Falls."

Being the weak man he was, Mayor Lockwood interrupted him and stepped forward. "Okay okay, no need to get alarmed right at this moment."

Sheriff Forbes sneered a little as she spoke to Damon. " Meaning he doesn't want to cancel the various Founders events.

John just continued as if nothing had happened. " You think all of your problems are over but I'm here to tell you, nothing's been solved."

'This isn't good... but what's going on. No other Vampires are around here, and the tomb is still closed... Shit the teabags. Without them, maybe Stefan is-'

John however, as it seemed, wasn't done. "Oh and can someone tell me about Samantha's apparent role on the Council and why Mr. Salvatore thought it okay to teach my niece about the Supernatural?"

Damon wanted to scream and rip his heart out... but he settled with an innocent smile and the lie they worked on easy on his lips.

"I can't believe we are doing this... this kind of magic seems intense. We are literally making a dark object." Bonnie dumped the salt around in a circle, around a tiny silver and diamond ring. "Grams would kill me for this."

"Probably but we need to hurry. I have no way to defend myself if tragedy strikes. This will help turn my grandma's ring into a talisman. I need your help to do so... plus it will permanently weaken the Tomb spell and that will make it easier to disrupt."

Bonnie sighed. " Fine... but your the one casting the spell, I am just the witch you are channeling."

Slitting her palm, Samantha allowed her blood to cover the simple ring, feeling her magic connect with it in an instant. "Deal... Now get over hear and help me cast the spell."

From her place across the tiny space of around the entrance of the tomb, Vicki snorted. " You two fight just like then Matty and I did as kids."

Together they just stuck out their tongues. Then, as one, they put their hands on the tomb, grasping onto the spell itself.

"Wow... this, Emily was powerful." Bonnie's voice was filled with awe. "Without a binding agent we won't be able to connect enough to dispel it, even with a disruption spell."

Samantha nodded. "I know, I have some ideas...but for now let's focus."

They matched their breathing, grasping hands as their magic melded, drawing from the immeasurably vast power of the tomb, a magical item infused with the might of a old witch and a powerful comet.

"Soti nan nan, nou jete ak mare. Jwenn moun ki mouri men mare nan vivan yo. Manjeur nan san ak vyolans, ranfose lanmo le sa a, epi nou ap jwenn nan nan, nou jete ak mare. Jwenn moun ki mouri men mare nan vivan yo. Manjeur nan san ak vyolans, ranfose lanmo le sa a, epi nou ap jwenn yo. Soti nan nan, nou jete ak mare. Jwenn moun ki mouri men mare nan vivan yo. Manjeur nan san ak vyolans, ranfose lanmo le sa a, epi nou ap jwenn yo."

Over and over, they chanted, the power flowing through them into the ring. A massive spell funneling through them into a far weaker modification of Emily's Vampire detection spell, twisted into Creole and cast with two far weaker witches. The spell boiled as it washed through them and the moment it was cast they collapsed, blood dripping from their noses, but a rare satisfaction in their hearts.

"We did it."

Opening her eyes, Samantha reached out and grasped the ring, gasping as a tiny flow of power shot through her, connecting to her magic. Like a magnetic pull she felt the ring pushing her mind. "I can feel... " She reached out and pointing towards Vicki, feeling the magic pushing towards the girl. " I can feel you, the spell worked."

Vicki's smile was radiant, pride and pleasure mixing in equal measure in her eyes. "Now you only need to reinforce it daily and it will become something terrifying."

"That's the goal... now, we need to go home... all of us. Bon, I think you shouldn't be staying by yourself. Go home and pack up, bring your stuff and you'll stay with me."

The other witch nodded, looking touched. "I'd like that... Care to give me a ride, Vicki?"

"Of course."

Jenna watched her nephew sit and eat with her irritating Ex, her hand close to the knife drawer just in cast she had to defend him from John. She never liked John, not since they stopped sleeping together. His cruelty, arrogance and constant habit of abusing others just grated on her. If he threatened Samantha or Jeremy or Elena she would gut him and feel nothing about it. She would not let him risk her family...

Jeremy, in his typical fashion, rolled his eyes at whatever John was saying. " You can't go to Career day, Jenna's already going tonight."

"I am family and I wonder about your future, sure I come."

His words pissed Jenna off. "I am their Guardian, I will be going. Your not welcome, since your never here to care about their future."

Jeremy turned to her, a warning look in his eyes. He knew why she was so upset and he got it, with all that had been going on Jeremy had matured a lot. "She's right, your never here. She's basically our mom now, your basically a stranger... hey, maybe you can answer this, where are the other Journals?"

John turned to him, confused and a little hurt. "You mean Johnathan Gilbert's journals? Why, are you reading them?"

"Yeah, I got into them when I was looking through some of dad's stuff. He isn't here to teach me the traditions he talked about, the Gilbert's role in the town and all that. I figured maybe the journals would help. At first I though that were was only one Journal, but after a while I figured there had to be others unless he was just crazy in the beginning, talking about monsters."

With a strange glint in his eyes, John nodded. "Yeah there are others... they are at the Lake house. I can get you some of them if you'd like... " The sound of the door unlocking and Samantha walking in, happy as a clam drew their attention and made John's entire expression shift. "But first, she and I need to have a talk." Quickly he walked away, leaving Jeremy and Jenna to share a very concerned look.

"Wonder what that was about,... you think he knows?"

"I think he does."

Samantha

"You like my room? I redecorated after I came back." Samantha smiled at her uncle, fingering her ring to feel it's power and praying it was enough to help her contain or deal with the man if she needed to. The memory of her earlier reading did little to ease her concerns. If nothing else the urge to beat answers out of the man was stronger then ever.

With some judgement, her Uncle looked around and smiled. "Darker then I like personally, but it fits your personality... what with your being in the know about Vampires and all."

She froze, sighing for a moment before sitting down. "How did you know that I know?"

"Liz Forbes and the Mayor, I am a part of the Council... why didn't you tell me over the summer? We spent months together, I was hunting and I could have taught you."

She sighed, faking guilt. " Until Logan attacked Vicki, I didn't really believe dad. Why do you think I wanted you to teach me how to fight, even if I didn't believe dad entirely I could at least start what he wanted to show me."

John seemed pained at the mention of his brother. "I can understand that... and I am sorry... How well do you know Damon." His eyes moved towards her hands, watching her finger the new addition of her new talisman...

Making her eyes widen. "You know... about Lapis Lazuli Rings." Her words catch him of guard and he snapped up, determined and concerned. "Your wondering if I know about Damon being a vampire and if I am as well." Taking of her ring, she placed her hand in the sunlight, showing the lack of a sizzle. "I am not, just so we are clear... but you knew that before you walked in here. What else do you know, dear uncle?"

There was a moment of pained silence before a long sigh crossed her Uncle's lips. "More then I'd like, just like you do it seems."

"Why not tell the Council about the rings? I actually like Damon and have no issue with Vampires, but do you dear uncle?"

His eyes turned cold. " I hate them and would see them all dead."

"That's what I thought... pity..."

His words changed, turning almost pained. "Your father hated them, so did your mother. How do you think they'd react to your befriending them?"

"Not sure I care, I loved my parents but it is my life and not theirs. I will worry about what they wanted when I die. Besides, I think they would have other problems with me... but first a question... what would you have done if I was a vampire, would you have killed me?"

John snapped up. " Never, I would never kill you... ever... I... Love you, all of you. I know I am not the easiest to get along with but I do really love you." He turned away. " Do you really think so little of me?"

"Not at all, but I know your full of conviction so I had to ask. Leave Damon alone, I have him behaving himself. He and I have an arrangement, he will behave himself until I say otherwise. Same with Stefan, they know better then to argue. I already killed one Vampire, I would have no issue with killing others."

Pride filled John's eyes. "Good girl."

Jeremy and Jenna

"...Her name is Anna, I met her a few days ago." He smiled, looking up at Jenna. " She seems nice, a little weird but nice." He was waiting at the door, following the girl out.

Jenna rolled her eyes, a moment of pride in her eyes. "Behave yourself then, both of you. Have fun."

"See you Jenna."

He didn't get more then twenty steps from his home before everything went dark.
