Throughout the next week,Troy had noticed a change in Gabriella's behaviour. She held Bella a little tighter, never taking her eyes off the girl and was more hesitant to leave her everyday, rushing to get to her when they finished school. He noticed she was always tense and tried to discretely look around, as if waiting for something but her attempts weren't subtle to Troy. Even Chad had taken notice.
(Flashback)
Troy, Gabriella, Chad, Zeke and Jason were walking into the cafeteria for lunch a few days after Gabriella had her nightmare, she had been kinda clingy to Troy, making sure he was always in her sight when she got the chance and became nervous when he wasn't around. Troy wasn't the only one who'd noticed this, however, Chad pulled Troy back before they entered the cafeteria, making Gabriella stop also. "Troy, can I speak with you for a minute?"
He nodded and turned to his girlfriend. "Go ahead Brie, we'll be in with you guys in a minute." She bit her lip hesitantly which made Troy inwardly frowned, she'd never been overly clingy or reliant on him, so what changed? He sighed and kissed her forehead. "We'll be right here Baby, it's ok, just go in and sit with Zeke and Jase."
She nodded and kissed his cheek before walking in behind the two boys. Troy turned his attention back to Chad. "What's up Man?"
"What's going on with Gabs Captain, she's been acting kinda weird recently."
Troy sighed, "I know, I don't know why, I've been waiting for her to come to me but so far she's only kept to herself, and I'm worried about her. She's not normally like this and I'm worried she's trying to deal with more than she can handle."
"Are you gonna talk to her?"
"I'm gonna have to, I don't want to push her, but I'm really worried."
Chad nodded. "Let me know if there's anything I can do."
Troy nodded in response and they walked into the cafeteria. He inwardly sighed when he sat down and Gabriella scooted as close as she could to him, not that there was anything wrong with the action, but the tension in her body was obvious as she rested against him.
(End Flashback)
He walked into the house after basketball practice to find Gabriella playing with Isabella, the girl as happy as ever. Isabella looked up and grinned, cheering "Daddy!" She ran and hugged his legs.
He smiled at the toddler and lifted her up, placing a kiss on her cheek. "Hey Angel, did you have fun at daycare?" The little girl nodded animately and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Are you having fun playing with Mommy?"
"Mommy and Bella play dollies."
He smiled and kissed her cheek before placing the girl back on the ground and moving to sit beside Gabriella. "Hey Baby." He greeted, kissing her cheek.
She leant into him and kissed his jaw. "Hey Wildcat, how was practice?"
He shrugged, "it was good, coach ran us hard but that was expected. Anyway, there's something we need to talk about." He felt Gabriella immediately tense - it seemed as though the only time she wasn't tense was when they were at home. He kissed her temple reassuringly. "It's ok Brie, it's nothing bad." She nodded wordlessly and turned to him.
"What did you want to talk about?"
"You've been acting a little off for the past week or so, has something happened?"
"No, nothing's happened." She said - a little too quickly.
He sighed, "Brie, I know you're hiding something. When I went through everything with Jack (he couldn't refer to him as dad anymore) and my cutting, you made me promise to come to you if something happened. I only want you to do the same Baby, I can tell something's wrong and it hurts that you won't tell me."
"I didn't mean to hurt you." She whispered timidly, making him sigh.
He pulled her into his lap and held her tight. "It's ok Brie, you didn't do anything wrong, I just want you to talk to me Baby. I want to know what's going on because there's obviously something going on... Did Major do something you're not telling me?"
She shook her head. "No, he hasn't bothered me since last time."
"Then what's up Beautiful, please don't hide from me." She looked down and shrugged. "Baby, you've been very nervous and hesitant for the past week, you're always so tense Brie. You've been clingy which I have absolutely no problem with but I know something's wrong. You've been hesitant to leave from mine or Bella's side, why is that?"
She bit her lip before responding quietly. "Because bad stuff happens when you're gone and I can't let Bella be taken away from me."
"Baby nothing bad is going to happen and no one is going to take Bella away from you, from us."
She shook her head. "You don't know that Troy, you don't know what's going to happen."
He kissed her temple. "What caused this Baby?"
She explained her nightmare to him as well as Isabella's. "It's not just a coincidence Troy, it can't just be a coincidence."
He inwardly sighed, he thought she was reading too much into it. "We can't know if it was coincidence or not Baby, but Bella is right here, she's safe here with you, you've got nothing to worry about Brie, so please try to relax."
She sighed, "I'll try." It was all she could promise but she couldn't ignore the sick feeling in her stomach; something was wrong, something was going to happen.
He looked down at the notebook clutched in her hands. "What's this Brie?"
She blushed, "it's just a song I've been writing for Bella."
"Can I hear it?"
She reluctantly nodded and sung the word she had written down.
"Here we are and you're all grown up now /
In the last moments before the little girl disappears /
Soon you're gonna take on the world /
But I want you to know that I'll always believe
I was 13 years old when I had you /
That fateful day everything changed /
I met my baby girl, my little angel /
My shining light in a world so dull /
And now I sit here thinking and now I'm wondering /
What happened to my baby /
What happened to the little girl I used to know /
When did she grow up /
Where did all our time go /
Through all the pain of these years /
She's been the light through all my fears /
I know there'll be good times and bad times /
But together forever, we'll still be here /"
"And that's all i've got so far, I just... I don't know."
He looked at her in awe. "Brie, that's amazing, you wrote a song."
"It's not finished."
"Baby it doesn't matter that it's not finished, it's still incredible."
She shrugged and snuggled into his chest. "I'm sorry, I'm in a bit of a clingy mood."
He chuckled and kissed her head. "Baby I told you, I don't care if you're clingy, I actually love when you cling to me, as long as there's nothing wrong causing you to." She nodded in response and he rested her forehead on hers.
Isabella came over to the couple. "Mommy, Daddy cuddles."
Troy chuckled. "Yeah Baby Girl, Mommy and Daddy cuddle." He could see the question in her eyes and smiled. "Come on Angel, come cuddle with Mommy and Daddy." The little girl grinned and Gabriella pulled their daughter into her lap. The girl snuggled into her mother's chest and Troy wrapped his arms around both girls, kissing the top of their heads.
(A.N. let me know what you're thinking of the story. I know the song isn't that great, I had written a song about a friend of mine which it was kinda based off (just for this story) but it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped but oh well. Let me know what you think :) )
