A/N: KawaiiCutie12: Lol yeah Nuka truly didn't deserve to get hit by his crazy mother. I'm glad that you were able to catch a laugh with that :). And yes, Mwoga, Mwoga, Mwoga... that lion is such a pain to poor Kali. It sucks that she has to be a victim to his trick.
Anyways, here is Chapter 23 for you all! As always, go to Chapter 1 for disclaimers. Without further or do, here is Chapter 23.
Chapter 23: Bonding Over the Past
Two months passed and Kali was debating whether or not she should tell her daughter about her father. On this day she was sitting on the promontory of Pride Rock just staring at the lands. Just then she heard a voice say, "Kali you alright?" Kali spun around to see Kopa standing there, a concerned looked on his face.
"Once again with the questions Kopa," Kali said with annoyance, rolling her amber eyes. "I'm doing fine as you can see."
"Kali it's just a question relax," Kopa said, getting irritated with his sister's attitude. "But seriously are you alright? You seem to be thinking."
"Like I said Kopa," Kali said getting irritated with her brother. "I'm. Doing. Just. Fine. Now drop the damn act or else I will actually hit you."
"Oh wanna challenge me to a fight?!" Kopa asked advancing to Kali.
"Oh, I can challenge you alright?!" Kali said in a confronting manner.
"Then so be it then," Kopa said in the same manner. But before he could do anything they heard a voice say, "What's going on here?" Kopa and Kali spun around to see Nala standing there.
"Oh uh nothing mom," Kali lied quickly and looking around nervously.
"Yeah right," Kopa muttered. Kali shot her brother a glare but Kopa paid no attention to it.
"There's obviously something that's going on," Nala said, knowing full well that Kali was lying. "Now tell me what's going on."
"Nothing's going on mom," Kali lied again. Kopa raised his eyebrow at his sister, causing her to look at Kopa. "What's with that raised eyebrow Kopa?" she asked, glaring at her brother.
"What do you mean 'what's with the raised eyebrow?'?" Kopa said, irritated at his sister's attitude. "And what do you mean that there's nothing going on? There's obviously something going on Kali."
"And just what is that supposed to mean?" Kali growled her amber eyes fury.
"Oh, are you that stupid Kali?!" Kopa shouted, glaring at his sister. "I asked you a simple question on if you're okay! And yet you didn't answer it! You just said that the question is annoying when it's just a simple question!"
"Well, those questions are damn annoying Kopa!" Kali shouted back. "They're too damn constant! It's starting to get in my damn nerves!"
"It's just a simple question, Kali!" Kopa shouted furiously.
"Well, how about you drop your shit then?!" Kali snarled.
"Kali! Kopa! That is enough!" Nala shouted, getting in between her furious children. "What is going on with you two?"
"Kopa is asking me the same damn questions!" Kali shouted furiously. "It's getting annoying!"
"Kali," Nala began slowly. "Your brother was just asking you a question. He was just curious. There was no reason to be mad at him for that." Then she turned to her son and said, "And you shouldn't have called your sister stupid Kopa. Saying that can be hurtful to other people when you say it to them. I want you both to apologize to each other for the stuff you said to each other." Upon hearing their mother's words, Kali and Kopa looked at each other much more relaxed.
"Mom's right Kali," Kopa said. "I do need to apologize for what I said. I'm sorry for calling you stupid."
"No Kopa I get why you were mad at me," Kali said softly, her eyes lowered in shame. "I'm the one who should be sorry. I'm sorry for the way I reacted. It's just that these types of questions get annoying at times. That's why I was so mad. And to answer your question I'm thinking if I should tell Nadra about her father. I've already told her that he's abandoned us but I'm not sure if I should tell her how my relationship with her father was like."
"What does your heart tell you?" Kopa asked.
"Half of it wants me to tell my daughter," Kali said. "And half of it doesn't want me to."
"Well don't you think it's better to tell her now?" Kopa asked.
"I mean," Kali began. "You did tell your son about his real grandfather so... I guess I'll tell her now. But I'll do it at night."
"I think that's a good choice, Kali," Kopa said.
"Well thanks," Kali said. "Now I'm just gonna have to go look for Nadra. I hope that she's able to understand." With that Kali went down the side of Pride Rock to go look for her daughter.
A few minutes later Kali found Nadra. Nadra was at the watering hole staring at her reflection. "Nadra?" Kali said, grabbing her daughter's attention. Nadra turned to see her mother standing there. "Can I talk to you?"
"Yeah sure," Nadra said, giving her mother her full attention, and also nervous at the same time. "Am I in trouble?"
"No you're not in trouble honey," Kali said. "I was hoping we could spend the night together just me and you?"
"Yeah sure," Nadra said. "I mean you haven't spent a lot of time with me lately. So I'm going to guess you're going to fix it tonight?"
"Yes," Kali said, remembering that she hadn't spent a lot of time with her daughter. "And I'm very sorry that I haven't spent any time with you. That's why I asked if I could spend the night with you."
"Well yes," Nadra said with a smile. "I accept your offer."
"Thank you, honey," Kali said with a smile. "But where are your cousins at?"
"They went out somewhere," Nadra confirmed. "I just don't know where though. I didn't want to tag along with them after we went to the Outlands two months ago."
"Oh ok," Kali said. "I'll see you later Nadra. I need to join the hunting party soon so I'll come to find you later."
"Ok mom," Nadra said. "I'll see you later mom." With that Kali gave her daughter a nuzzle before going back to Pride Rock to join the hunting party.
Meanwhile, Kopa had left Pride Rock to go find his brother. Much to his luck, he found Chaka under an acacia tree resting. "Hey bro," Kopa said with a smile approaching his brother.
"Hello bro," Chaka replied with a smile of his own. "What can I do for you?"
"Well I was wondering if we could stargaze together," Kopa said. "We haven't stargazed together ever since you came back. So I was wondering we could stargaze together."
"I was going to ask you too," Chaka said. "And now that you asked I am going to gladly accept your offer. I'd love to stargaze with you."
"Wow thank you, bro," Kopa said with a smile.
"Nah no sweat," Chaka said waving his paw. "But you're welcome. I'm always happy to spend some time with you."
"Well thank you once more," Kopa said, still smiling. With that Kopa laid down beside his brother and take a nap.
Later that night Kali and Nadra were lying in the grass in the middle of the Pride Lands. "The stars are really beautiful tonight," Nadra said, lying down beside her mother.
"They are," Kali said, lying beside her daughter. "That's why I asked if we could spend the night together today."
"Mom what did you want to talk to me about?" Nadra asked. "You did tell me you wanted to talk to me about something earlier today."
"Well," Kali began. "I was wondering if I could talk to you about your father?"
"Oh I already knew you were going to tell me about my dad," Nadra said with a smirk.
"How did you know I wanted to talk about your father?" Kali asked, shocked that her daughter knew that she wanted to talk about her father.
"Just the way you were talking," Nadra said, still smirking. "But seriously though, I'd like to know what your relationship was like with my dad."
"Well," Kali began. "I met your father after my heated argument with your grandfather. I explained to him how your grandfather was an overprotective ass. And he offered if I wanted to take a walk with him and I did. After our walk, I started growing some feelings for your father. We then decided to go to a secluded area in the Pride Lands. That's when I couldn't deny my feelings towards him. He said that he loved me and I said I loved him too. But the next morning he was gone. And when I saw him again two months later I told him I was pregnant with you he denied you and left as soon as he could." Kali then had tears forming in her eyes as she thought of that day when Mwoga denied his daughter.
"Wow," Nadra said in disbelief after her mother was finished. "My father is truly a jackass. I guess this is a valuable lesson you've learned from your own mistakes."
"It is," Kali said with a sigh of regret. "I could have just had a one night stand with him. And then that's it. I was just too stubborn back then. Looking back I wish I could take what I said back. That's something I will regret for the rest of my life."
"But mom," Nadra began. "It's my father's fault for making you regret this. You were mad at my grandfather and wasn't thinking clearly. He broke your heart in the worst way possible. My grandfather was just... overprotective like you said. I can't fully blame you for falling for my father's trick. Regardless of how mad I am with my father I still love you mom and I always will."
"Oh honey," Kali said, pulling her daughter close. "You don't know how much you mean to me. I love you very much."
"I love you to mom," Nadra said, nuzzling into her mother's chest fur. After a few minutes, the mother and daughter got up to their feet and headed back to Pride Rock to get some sleep.
A/N: Man Kali... You didn't need to snap at Kopa like that. He was asking you a simple question.
And now Kali has explained her relationship with her no-good of a... yeah, to her daughter. Nadra surprisingly did take it well then Kali expected her to. Kali thought her daughter would be mad at her when it was the complete opposite.
Anyways, that's it for Chapter 23. See you all later in Chapter 24!
