It was late afternoon on Tuesday when Brett's phone rang.

"Hello?" He answered, as he sat on the edge of his bed.

"We have to talk." John Wilde said.

"Why?" Brett sighed.

John cleared his throat, "I shouldn't have hit you the other night."

"Is this you apologizing?" Brett asked

"Yes." John said, "Though, you were way out of line as well…"

"Great apology." Brett muttered sarcastically.

John sighed, "Look. I think we both owe each other an apology."

"I disagree." Brett said, "I don't owe you a damn thing."

"God Brett, can't you just admit that you aren't perfect!" John shouted. "Own up to your mistakes and failures!"

Brett huffed, "I'm hanging up now."

John huffed, "You ought to learn some respect!"

Brett huffed and hung up. He groaned, rubbing his face.

He looked own at his phone and called his mother.

"Hello?" Laura answered.

"Hey. Did you talk to him?" Brett asked.

Laura sighed, "Yes. I called him yesterday. It's hard to believe how much of an asshole he can be. He didn't used to be like that."

Brett scratched his jaw, "What did he used to be like?"

"He was a good man before your grandfather died. Something snapped in him when Jim passed."

Brett sighed, remembering his grandfather's funeral when he was 10 years old. "I don't even remember anything about him before Grampa died."

"He wasn't around much cause of work, but he was still a decent guy. Don't worry." She said, "You're much more like my father then you are anyone else."

Brett smiled, grateful for her words, "Good."

Laura sighed, "He said he was going to apologize to you…did he?"

"He…attempted to apologize." Brett replied, "He failed but it was an attempt."

Laura huffed, "I'm guessing you didn't accept…"

"What makes you say that?"

"Because I'm your mother and I know how stubborn you can be…especially when it comes to him." Laura smirked.

Brett sighed, "He wanted me to apologize to him too…"

Laura rolled her eyes, "He was never good at apologizing."

They talked for a while longer before hanging up.

Brett – How was your shoot?

Brett set his phone on the table and went back to reading the cookbook. He wanted to fix Santana some thing other than burgers for dinner Wednesday night. He was searching for something decently simple.

Finn walked into the apartment and took off his coat, "Fuck man. It's freezing out there. After 4 years in LA…it's taking some time to get used to the cold again."

Brett smirked, "I never got used to the sunshine."

Finn chuckled, nodding, "What are you up to?"

"I want to make San some dinner tomorrow night but you know me."

"Don't want to make her Brett's famous burgers?" Finn smirked.

"I've already done that. I'd like to impress her a bit."

"I don't think you need to impress her, Buddy." Finns said.

Brett shrugged, "I want to anyways. I'm thinking a chicken and veggie stir fry." He said as he phone lit up

San – It was great. I love working with Kitty. I'm working with her on Thursday too. What are you doing?

He grinned and replied.

Brett – I'm glad. Just chilling with Finn. I was wondering if you'd like to have a date at your place tomorrow night?

"Stir fry sounds good. I think it's pretty simple to make." Finn said

Brett nodded, looking at the cookbook.

"Oh are you gunna ask her to go with you?"

"I would but she's got a shoot on Thursday." Brett answered as his phone lit up again.

San – I'd love to. You can stay the night and leave from here

Brett licked his lips before replying.

Brett – That's perfect. How's your girl's night going?

Finn nodded, "Well to sound like a douche bag…that's an even better reason to ask her. You know she won't be able to come. I know you don't want her to meet Jessica."

"I really don't…but I do wish she could come with me. I'm gunna miss her…"

"I know, man." Finn nodded, "I'm sort of surprised that you guys aren't living together. I mean I know it's really soon, but you guys are obviously in love."

Brett nodded, "To be honest…I thought about it but it is just really early int e relationship."

His phone lit up as Finn cracked open a beer.

San – It's fun. We're having pillow fights while wearing lingerie ;)

Brett laughed and replied

Brett – I know you're joking but that does sound hot

"What?" Finn asked.

Brett shook his head, "Nothing."

Finn smirked, "You want a beer?"

Brett nodded, "Sure." He said as his phone buzzed twice.

San – Lol

San - I miss you.

Brett – I miss you too

In the early afternoon on Wednesday Brett went to the grocery store to buy everything he needed to make the stir fry that night.

He was grabbed some vegetables when he heard his name.

"Brett!"

He turned and grinned at his sister, "Hey Kit."

"Hey!" She smiled, hugging him.

"What are you doing buying flowers and wine?" He smirked.

Kitty rolled her eyes, "Being a good girlfriend. What are you doing buying actual food that you need to cook?" she said, seeing the raw chicken in his cart.

"Being a good boyfriend." He smirked.

She laughed, "Good for us."

Brett rolled his eyes, "I'm going to LA tomorrow."

"When will you be back?"

"Late Saturday evening." Brett replied.

Kitty nodded, "Well be careful."

"I will. I should hurry up. I'll see you later. Love you, sis."

"Love you too." She smiled, hugging him once more before walking away.

He got to the penthouse and knocked.

She opened the door, "Hey!" She beamed, "You bought groceries!"

Brett chuckled, "I even bought a cookbook. I'm making you dinner." He said as he walked into the apartment.

Santana smiled, "God, you are adorable." She replied, kissing his jaw.

Brett smirked, "I just hope I don't set anything on fire in my attempt to be a good boyfriend."

She laughed, shutting the door before following him to the kitchen.

He set everything on the counter and turned to her, pulling her into a hug.

She smiled, relaxing in his embrace.

"I'm going to miss you while you're gone." She said quietly.

Brett nodded, "Do you…do you want to come with me?"

She pulled back and smiled, "I do but I can't. I've got a shoot on Thursday and a show Friday night."

Brett nodded, "Maybe next time…"

She smiled, "Yeah."

He leaned down and kissed her lips softly, "I'm gunna miss you too." He muttered against her lips.

She smiled and kissed him back, cupping his jaw.

"So much." He added as he pulled back.

She nodded, biting her lip before looking at the groceries, "So what are you making?"

"Chicken stir fry with rice…" Brett replied, "Wish me luck, my love."

Santana smiled, blushing slightly at the new term.

"What?" he asked, noticing.

"Nothing." She said, shaking her head, "Would you like a beer?"

"Sure. Thank you." He nodded.

She walked over to the fridge and grabbed a couple beers.

"So how'd the shoot go?" Brett asked as he washed his hands.

"Kitty brought in this amazing make up artist. He name is Tina Cohen-Chang." Santana replied, "She's…"

"Tina's in town?" Brett asked, turning to look at his girlfriend after he started the rice.

"You know her?" Santana asked, shocked.

Brett chuckled, nodding, "Yeah. She was one of my clients in LA. She's crazy talented." He explained as he started to cut up the chicken.

"I know!" Santana laughed, "Quinn and I looked hot."

Brett grinned, "Do I get to see these pictures?"

Santana laughed, "You could ask your sister."

"You know, there's something wrong about having to ask my baby sister to show me nude pictures of my girlfriend." Brett smirked, as he finished cutting up the chicken. He turned and got started chopping up the vegetables.

Santana bit her bottom lip, nodding before she took a sip of her beer.

She smiled, watching him.

He finished chopping and looked at the cookbook to read the directions one more time before turning to mix together the sauce.

"I'm awfully impressed with you right now." Santana smirked after he finished with the sauce.

Brett chuckled, "I'm pretty impressed myself. I'm trying not to show my nerves."

"Well you're doing a great job." She smirked.

He looked around before grabbing the large skillet.

"Don't worry. I'll clean up after dinner." He muttered

She rolled her eyes, smiling, "I'll help."

He shook his head and smirked, turning on the stove top to pour olive oil in the large skillet.

She rolled her eyes but smiled, watching him as he put the chicken in the skillet. She sat at the bar and leaned her chin on the palm of her hand, watching him.

Brett focused on cooking the chicken till he heard his phone ring in his pocket. He sighed and pulled it out.

"Hello?"

"Hey Pierce." Nick Thomas said.

Nick was the manager of the gym in LA.

"Hey Nick. What's up?"

"When you get here tomorrow. Come straight to the gym. We're having a meeting and your replacement will be there."

"Okay. I should land around noon or so. I'll come straight there." Brett replied

"Alright. See you tomorrow." Nick said.

"See you then." Brett said before hanging up.

"Baby, this is really good!" Santana smiled after taking her first bite.

Brett nodded, "It's not too bad, huh?" He grinned, taking a bite.

"I'm impressed." She smirked.

"Turns out I can make more than just burgers." He chuckled.

She nodded, taking another bite.

After dinner they cleaned up kitchen.

Brett was drying his hands when Santana walked over and kissed his jaw.

He grinned, "I hope you liked it okay."

"It was great." Santana smiled, "You did great." She said, kissing his jaw again.

He leaned down and kissed her lips softly while smiling.

"Come on. Let's go watch some Outlander." He grinned.

"Let's watch it in my room." Santana said.

Brett grabbed his luggage and carried it to her bedroom.

"What time do you have to leave in the morning?"

"My flight is at 9 so I need to leave here a little after 7." He replied.

Santana nodded, "I'll make you some breakfast before you go."

Brett grinned and pulled her close, "Thank you." He muttered before kissing her lips.

She smiled and cupped his jaw, deepening the kiss.

He pulled back and nudged her nose with his before muttering, "I have something for you."

She raised her brow, "What?"

He walked over to his bag and opened it, pulling out a picture frame.

"It's not the best quality but I figured it's all we have so far." He said, handing it to her.

She looked down and smiled, seeing that it was a framed copy of the picture they had taken together, cuddling on the couch.

"I love it." She smiled and put it on her nightstand, "Thank you, Baby."

Brett nodded, "I'm gunna miss you while I'm in LA. It's weird. I'll only be gone a few days, but it still completely sucks."

She nodded, "I know what you mean." She muttered.

Brett tilted Santana's head up by her chin and kissed her softly.

She smiled and kissed him back, wrapping her arms around his neck. He moved his hands to her hips and pulled her against him as they both deepened the kiss.

Santana's phone rang and they both groaned as they separated.

"On sec." Santana muttered, grabbing her phone.

Brett pulled off his shirt and jeans before pulling on a pair of plaid pajama pants. He sat on the edge of the bed as Santana sighed and set the phone down.

"What was that?" Brett asked.

"It was a text from Quinn. We're working with a new photographer tomorrow. She was just sending me the address we're meeting up at." She replied as she walked to the closet to change.

Brett nodded, "You excited to be working with someone new?"

Santana stepped out of the closet, pulling on a large t-shirt, "Yeah. Her name is Mercedes Jones."

Brett nodded again as Santana laid down on the bed. He scooted back and laid down next to her.

She scooted closer to him and wrapped her arm over his stomach while leaning her head on his chest.

"Do you know anyone she's worked with?" Brett asked.

Santana nodded, "Mike has in the past. So has Dani."

"Who's show are you going to Friday night?" He asked.

"Holly's. Her shows are always a lot of fun."

Brett nodded and kissed her forehead, "Wish I could be there."

"Me too." Santana sighed, "You would like her work."

"Hopefully I can come to the next show." He said.

She nodded, "Yeah. I just didn't think you'd like Artie's work but now that I'm not working with him, I think you should come to any show you want."

"I hope I can come to one soon."

"Me too. So that I can show you off." She smirked.

Brett chuckled, "Works for me."

Santana kissed his chest twice before lifting her head to kiss his lips. He grinned and kissed back.

She pulled away, grinning, "Do you want to watch some Outlander?"

Brett chuckled. "Sure."

They curled up and watched the show together.
