Chapter Twenty Two

The next time Clarke went to Polis it was totally different. She called Octavia and Lincoln into her office and told them. Octavia was silent, for once. "L." she said. "Lexa." said Clarke. "OMG Clarke, you mean you operated on the Commander of the Polis Army?"

Even Lincoln put his hand over her mouth to shut her up.

"Thank you, Lincoln. That's what you got from that? Your friend who has been single this whole time, has met someone - "

"The fucking Commander," whispered Octavia as violently as she could, "Anyway your only telling me now because it's about to break."

Clarke pointed at chairs, "Sit." She poured them each three fingers of her good stock Port. "Commander Port." snickered Octavia.

"Are you done? Because this is important. Firstly, no one can know I operated on anyone."

"Yeeess." droned Octavia like she was a schoolgirl being scolded.

Clarke pointed to Octavia and spoke to Lincoln, "And she wonders why I don't tell her stuff."

He gave her a nudge and she sat up straight, pretending to behave.

"Second, no one can know the Commander was injured."

"I know," she whined.

"Third, remember Costia Myne?"

Octavia's eyes went as round as saucers, "OMG, they are going to cut off your head!"

Clarke would have been furious if she had thought Octavia was being facetious, but that's just where her mind went, unfortunately.

"Please don't ever say that again."

Clarke tried to explain the situation and Lincoln assured her he understood and would speak to her.

Arriving in Polis was different too, no train ticket this time, private plane, a tiny little loud engined plane that got her from A to B in under an hour and that's got to be worth something! Clarke was met by a car, on the tarmac, she didn't even see her luggage! She went straight to the hospital as arranged and had lunch with her mother who was also made speechless. This relationship had a great many benefits, Clarke was thinking, aside from the main one, which of course was Lexa.

She next met up with Ravenn at her new favourite book store and they had a long quiet chat, whereupon Clarke told her the whole story, well not about getting wounded or the surgery but everything else. Raven was very happy for Clarke, a little overwhelmed that it was the Commander and rather concerned about the security situation, but still very happy for Clarke.

One final stop before she went to Lexa's, flowers! She had ordered them and they were ready, she didn't realise that one of the security agents had put them in the car while she was still paying! Oh she could get used to this, for sure. With all the hard work out of the way, Clarke was ready for some pleasure.

From the vehicle the security guy showed her the building, they drove around the block detailing adjacent buildings, the rear and front of Lexa's building and pertinent security issues. Then she got a tour of the outdoor spaces and Clarke listened, Lexa had been to a lot of trouble for this, the least she could do was participate. Then scanning protocols, thumbs to get into the building, eyeballs to get into the apartment. It was rather intimidating.

But when she finally got into the apartment, as was able to move around by herself, she loved it. Whoever had decorated had done a good job, understated quality, just as she would have chosen and she wondered if Lexa knew that?

L:

Are you home yet?

Doctor:

Yes, it's really beautiful

L:

Security? Too much?

Doctor:

It is what it is.

L:

You are awesome

Doctor:

I feel awesome, come home
