Emma couldn't seem to pay attention to the road the entire drive back to her hotel. It took getting honked at by a car whose lane she nearly drove in to for her to finally focus on driving. Emma couldn't help her inattentiveness. She just couldn't get her mind off of what had just happened.
Emma managed to make it to the hotel with out getting into a car accident. When she had finally parked and turned off her car, she remained sitting in the car for a couple minutes. She thought about what Ross had said, and what she had said. She had told Ross about how she had overheard him refer to her as "okay"-looking at the amusement park. And Ross had gotten really mad at her. Her eyes teared up as she thought of how he had shouted at her, and she wished she hadn't shouted back.
As she thought about it, she realized something. Through the entire fight Emma and Ross had, Emma never felt scared. She remembered Ross walking towards her and looking really mad, but even then she wasn't afraid. And Emma knew why. 'He'd never, ever hurt me.' Emma thought. Even after Emma had pushed Ross away from her, she knew he wouldn't touch her. 'So why did I have to hurt him?' Emma began to think. She felt horrible immediately after saying everything she had said. Like how he had only dated Brittany because she was pretty. Why had she said that? Ross would never date a girl just for looks. She knew that.
And then Ross had told her maybe he had only made that comment to Calum because it was true. Emma knew he was just trying to make her mad. She became especially frustrated when he checked her out. How could someone she liked so much do that to her? Make her feel violated like that. Especially after she had spent so much time in Ross's arms that week. She now knew the feeling of the warmth from his chest well. 'Gosh,' Emma thought as she finally got out of her car, her face still soaked from crying. 'What I would give to be in his arms right now.'
As Emma got into her hotel room, she thought about what she should do. She wanted so badly to try and apologize to Ross, and see if they could work things out. But she wasn't sure if he would also apologize to her. Or even accept her apology, for that matter. Emma sighed, and changed into shorts and a t-shirt. She headed for her bed, too exhausted to think about the situation any longer. Emma had had quite the week, and she knew she would need the energy the next day for the party. It wasn't until then that she realized it may not be the best idea for her to attend the party the next day. With the way she had left things with Ross, she wasn't so sure if she would be welcomed any longer. 'I guess I could always hang out with Samantha. And Rydel, too, if she isn't angry at me about what I had said to her brother. Then there's also Laura and Raini.' As inviting as she knew that group of girls would be, Emma knew the party just wouldn't be the same with out the guy who had been her best friend over the past six days right there by her side.
Emma fell asleep pretty quickly that night. As awful as she felt about the whole situation, she was so tired that nothing was going to keep her awake that night. Emma had fallen sleep around eleven that night, and didn't wake up until about seven. She probably would have slept longer. That is, if she had not heard someone knocking on her hotel room door.
