Maura was awakened by loud laughter she stretched reaching for the spot next to her which had long be voided of her girlfriend. As she sat and wiped the sleep from eyes she was greeted by the smell of breakfast and fresh coffee. She quickly retreated into the bathroom to relieve her bladder, brush her teeth and her hair pulling it back in a low ponytail. She exited the bedroom and headed for the noise.

Rounding the corner into the kitchen everyone was standing around eating breakfast or drinking coffee but they were all smiling which Maura was grateful for. She made a straight line for Jane sitting at the table looking through pictures on Frankie's phone. She wrapped her arms around the tall brunettes neck and placed a quick kiss to her cheek.

Jane greeted the blonde by pulling her into her lap.

"Good morning beautiful." Jane said with a smile.

"Good morning to you too." She replied. What are you all looking at?"

"Frankie and I were sharing some photo's with Camille and Robin of Frost. And let's just say they are embarrassing and he wouldn't be very happy that we are showing them to his mom's." Jane said with a sad grin.

"I'm sure they aren't that bad." Maura says running her hand through Jane's thick hair.

Oh you think so?" Jane asked reaching over for her phone, she quickly pulls up a photo of Frost that causes Maura to break into laughter.

"Oh my, is he sleeping with a stuffed bear?"

The entire room breaks into laughter given that they knew what picture was being showed.

"Yes he is. Remember that bear you had given me before you left?" Maura nodded. "Well that's it, he passed out on my couch after drinking to much while we watched the sox play on tv. He hugged it and mentioned how soft it was and next thing I know hes passed out cuddling the damn thing." Jane said laughing.

"I'm glad you have these photos to remind you of the good memories you shared with him, and yes I'm sure he would be a tad embarrassed but he would laugh right along with us." Maura said with a smile of her own.

Jane smiled. "You are probably right Maur and come to think of it I haven't seen that bear since that night!" Jane's comment caused everyone to laugh again.

"Maura, honey can I get you some coffee?" Camille asked although she was smiling Maura could see the weariness on her face. She knew the older woman hadn't had much sleep.

Oh shit, I'm such a bad girlfriend. I'm sorry baby can I get you some breakfast and coffee?" Jane asked snapping Maura from her thoughts.

"Language Jane." Maura chastised. "You are not a bad girlfriend, but yes breakfast and coffee does sound wonderful."

Jane gently removed her girlfriend from her lap to get her the things she asked for. As Jane was fixing Maura a plate of eggs and bacon she heard her laughing.

"And what's so funny over here?" She asked trying to see Frankie's phone.

"Nothing Janie." Frankie answered quickly hiding his phone.

"Come on let me see." Jane remarks holding out her hand. Maura smiled behind her mug of coffee.

"You did not show her this picture?"

"Oh but I did!" Frankie says cracking a grin in Maura's direction.

"Frankie!" Jane spouts.

"Jane it's okay, you super cute with your pigtails." Maura remarks with a wide smile.

Jane rolled her eyes and shook her head. "It was for a Halloween party I dont even remember what I was suppose to be."

Alright kids, I'm going to the market and pick up a few things Robin and Camille are going with me." Angela says poing towards the two women.

Camille stepped forward placing a hand on Jane's shoulder. "Would the three of you mind going to Barry's apartment and pick up a few things for me? I don't think I can handle going right now."

The mood turn sobering quickly for Jane. Taking Camille's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze she answers.

"Sure thing, just text me what you need and we can pick it up." Maura watched as the smile Jane had just a second ago was gone and the sadness and reality of the situation came crash back.

The three women head out the door, the quietness that settled over the apartment was eerie. Jane cleared her throat trying to push her emotions to back. "Maur, Frankie if you guys want I can handle this on my own...you don't have to come."

Frankie looks at Maura who looks at Jane. "Sweetie, we are coming with you. You don't have to go through any of this alone. Don't start pushing us away Jane. We love you and we are here for you. So no, we will not let you go alone."

Jane knew that Maura and Frankie weren't going to let her go alone. She was grateful that they cared so much about her. She knew had Frankie not asked Maura to come home she would probably be at the Dirty Robber drowning her feelings in alcohol.

"Thank you." Jane said softly. "Both of you. I mean it. But you both lost him too, so just know I'm here for the two of you as well."

Jane quickly wiped away her tears. "Frankie Maur and I are gonna get changed and then we can head over. Just give us about 20 minutes."

"Sure thing Janie."

30 minutes later Jane and Maura return. "Alright let's go." Jane said with a heavy sigh. The ride over to Frost apartment was silent. No one wanted to speak, no one was ready to walk into their friends apartment to pick up pictures and his funeral clothes, no one especially Jane want to face the bitter truth.

Upon arriving at his door Frankie placed the key into the lock until it clicked. Jane quickly reached for Maura's hand. The blonde could feel Jane's body shaking she light ran her hand up and down Jane's arm for comfort. With his hand on the knob Frankie looks over at his sister.

"You ready Janie?"

Jane didn't immediately respond. Frankie pushed the door open, reached inside and turned on the lights. Jane stood in place as if her feet were suddenly made of lead.

Maura felt Jane tense at the sight of Frost apartment. "Jane, love you don't have to do this. I'm sure Frankie can handle it if you need some air." Maura spoke calmly, and softly something she knew would being the tall brunette back from the edge.

Jane finally spoke. "You go on with Frankie I'll just be a minute." Maura looked into brown eyes full of hurt, angry and uncertainty. She didn't want to leave the brunette alone but Jane insisted.

"It's okay Maur, I'll be right here. I just need to gather myself before I go in." The calm tone in Jane's voice told her she would be okay.

"Okay Jane I'll leave the door open. Just come in when you are ready." Maura slowly extracted her hand from her girlfriends and walked inside searching for Frankie.

As Jane stood outside her bestfriends apartment her heart raced almost uncomfortably. She took deep breaths trying to get herself under control.

"You can do this Jane. Do it for Frost." She silently told herself. After taking one last breath she stepped inside. She looked around almost as if expecting Frost to walk out any minute. When he didn't her shoulders fell she took a quick look around at all the photos of the two of them. She smiled at the thoughts of the good times they had together but one picture in particular caught her attention.

It was their high school graduation. It sadden her to think about all the things they had talked about doing after high school and how he never got the chance to do them. She walked into the kitchen with the picture, placing it down on the counter she turned to his fridge. She had to chuckle at the wine he had but smiled when her eyes fell onto the beer she drank. It seemed like everyone she loved stocked her favorite beer.

She grabbed one, popped the cap and took a sip. As she leaned on the counter looking from the picture infront of her to the livingroom a strong wave of saddness took over. She slammed her hand down onto the picture shattering the glass cutting her hand.

"Damnit!" She yelled causing Frankie and Maura to come running. At the sight of her hand bleeding and the picture anger got the better of her. She flung her beer into the wall sending glass flying. She dropped to the floor pulling her legs up to her chest.

"Jane! Maura said loudly dropping down next to the brunette.

"Shit Jane look at your hand." Maura said quickly grabbing a kitchen towel to stop the bleeding. Jane pulled her hand away.

"Why Maura?! Why him? Why not some murdering pice of shit off the street?! Why did it have to be him?" Jane yelled. Maura gently pulled the sobbing brunette into her arms.

"Why?" Jane said into the other womans chest, bringing her arm around to grip tightly as if she feared she would be taken away from her too.

Maura looked to Frankie with her own tears falling, burning hot down her cheeks. He was already on the phone explaining to Camille that he would get what she needed and quickly explain what was happening.

After hanging up he made his way to his sisters side. He wrapped his arms around both women.

"It's okay Janie let it out. I miss him too, we all do." He said softly his own tears making themselves known. They stayed sitting on the kitchen floor holding onto one another for what seemed like forever.

Jane finally sat up wiping her face of the tears that had long dried. Maura shifted taking Jane's hand.

"Can I please look at your hand baby?" Maura said sweetly. Jane nodded. The blonde unwrapped the towel to see that Jane's cut had stopped bleeding but that she would need a stitch or two.

"Jane, we need to get this cleaned up and stitched. Let's go to my place and I can take care of it for you."

Jane didn't protest. All she wanted was to lay in bed and hold tight to her girlfriend. She wanted to close her eyes and hope that when she opened them again this would all be a horrible dream.

Later that night

Everyone gathered at Maura's home for dinner. Camille had pulled Jane aside to discuss somethings.

"Jane." Camille called from the back door. Jane stopped what she was doing and looked up.

"What's up Camille?"

Could I speak to you outside for a moment?" Camille didn't want to have this conversation but it need to happen.

"Yeah sure." Jane said giving Maura a quick kiss before grabbing her jacket.

Jane shuttered as the cold wind whipped through her open jacket she quickly zipped it and sat down next to Camille.

"I'm sorry Camille I have been so caught up in my own feelings that I haven't stopped to ask you how are you doing?" Jane knew that it was kind of a stupid question the woman just lost her son but it was the only question she kind bring forth for comfort to the other woman.

Camille sighed. "I'm hanging in there. Its hard...he's going to be greatly missed. But I'm so grateful that he had such a great friend like you in his life." She replied with a small smile.

"He was the one that was good for me. He kept me on the right track. Frost always made sure I knew if I was messing up. He was a great friend." Jane chuckled a little. "Actually he was family just like you and Robin are family."

Camille smiled her first genuine smile. "Thank you for saying that Jane. Silence fell between them as Jane shifted nervously.

Jane the reason I wanted to speak to you is" She paused for a moment before continuing. "I know this goes without asking but I needed to ask you anyway...would you like to be a pallbearer for Barlow?" Camille felt the tears building.

Jane took a deep breath and then released it into the cold night air watching as it lifted higher and higher before disappearing. "Of course I will Camille." She says reaching for the other womans hand giving it a gentle squeeze.

"I've made arrangements to have a memorial service for him tomorrow for friends and his service set for the following day for family and close friends, which I guess you all fall into both categories." Camille stated with a chuckle.

Jane knew the small joke was being used as a defense against the hurt and sadness his mother was feeling. She knew it all to well because she, herself does it on the daily. She hugged the woman tightly while fighting back her own emotions.

She made a choice in this moment to be strong for those around her. Being who she was made her feel as if she needed to hold everyone together she would deal with her own feelings again at a later time but right now she needed to be the protector, the rock or the glue to hold everyone together because the next few days were going to be the hardest, they were going to hit the hardest and drive home the one thought that everyone has been trying to push down.

Jane took another deep breath. "Lets get inside and enjoy a nice dinner. We don't want to get sick sitting out her to long. Because believe me my Ma will treat you no differently then one of her kids if you get sick and trust me when I say you really don't want that."

Camille laughed. "I'm sure it can't be that bad."

HA, let her get a hold of you and you will change your tune." Jane said standing up holding her hand out for Camille to take.

"I still don't believe it to be that horrible."

"Oh no?" Jane says with a raised eyebrow. "Watch this." Jane says opening the door and stepping inside as Camille followed behind.

"Hey Ma!" Jane says loudly causing everyone to turn around.

"What is it Janie? It there a reason you are so loud?" Angela asks.

"Well Camille was telling me she doesn't feel well." Jane smiled and looked at Camille standing to her right. The look on her face caused Jane to break into laughter. She leaned over and whispered. "Just wait." Leaving her with that statement she quickly walked over to Maura's side pulling her close as her mother made a B line straight for Camille.

Frankie laughed and said. "Oh no Camille you shouldn't of said anything now Ma is never going to leave you alone until you feel better."

Jane snorted and buried her face in Maura's neck. Maura smiled and turned to Jane.

Is she really sick?"

Jane tried her best not to smile.

"Jane you didn't!." Maura says playfully slapping Jane's arm.

"She said she didn't believe how overbearing ma is when someone she cares about is sick. So I'm giving her a little taste." Jane remarked with a grin.

Everyone was looking at Angela and Camille who wasn't sure what to do with herself as Angela was checking her for fever and babbling on about getting enough rest and how she would make her a pot of her famous soup. Camille looked to Jane with a smile that said "oh my god, you were right."

Jane laughed a guttural laughing before stopping her mothers movements. "Ma Camille isn't sick. Shes fine."

"What?" Angela asked confused.

Jane laughed some more, still holding Maura in her arms who was now trying to stifle her own laughter.

"She's fine Ma, she just didn't believe me when I said how much you care for people when they are sick."

"Jane Clementine Rizzoli!" Angela shot back.

"Uh oh, ma used the middle name...I'm really in trouble now." Jane said causing Maura to laugh.

"You darn right you are in trouble and just for that little stunt you can clean up after dinner with NO help. I mean it Maura you don't touch a single dish after dinner." Angela said glaring at Jane.

Jane could tell by the spark in her mother's eyes that she wasn't all that serious but serious enough. But as she looked around at everyone she realized that doing what she did brought the tension and sadness down that was hanging in the room over everyone and for that she wasn't sorry.
