Chapter: 19 Loss

I woke up to the sound of a loud boom. Startled, I fell down. Good thing my bed was under the pole. I stood up. My ears moving at top speed in all directions, listening, to hear any sounds again. Suddenly my T.V., computer, and lights came on. I quickly felt for my sunglasses. When I found them and put them on I watched in horror the most craziest lightshow ever! The lights flickered on and off, on and off, as if they had a will of their own.

I started to freak out.

Then they went so fast it was hard to tell if was like they were on and not flickering at all. Then they started to glow brighter and brighter. I closed my eyes and curled into a ball. They became so bright all the glass broke. I opened my eyes, got off my bed and ran to the door. I looked down the hallway and saw everyone was up as well.

"What just happened?" Link asked us. We all looked at each other trying to think what that loud noise just was. "Did your guys' lights just flicker and go out?" I asked them. They all nodded.

"But what was that loud boom?" Susan asked.

"I at first thought it was my stomach, but then realized I don't have a stomach!" B.O.B. said laughing at what he just said.

Susan pretended she didn't hear B.O.B. and looked down at Doc.

Doc cleared his throat, "I'm not sure what that was, if I'm not correct I could've sworn we are-" "Under Attack!" Monger interrupted Doc and was at the end of the hallway. He was already dressed in his uniform.

"Monsters! Get your butts out there and go kick some aliens! Go! Go! Go!" he ordered. We obeyed and ran down the hallway and to the door. I spread my wings and flew to the door. The huge metal doors opened up by them selves and we all ran outside.

The sky was a dark blue and still had some stars up. Some light rays of sun were peeking over the far mountains. The air was slightly cold but felt nice at the same time. The ground was hard and rocky.

Suddenly, we heard the booming noise again. I curled into a ball and covered my ears. It was too loud for my liking. I moaned and shrieked in pain from the loud noise. My eyes were tightly closed as I waited impatiently for the sound to stop.

When the sound was over, Doc helped me up. My ears were ringing a bit. I winced at the sudden pains in my ears.

"Are you ok Bat?" Doc asked.

I slightly nodded.

"But where are the sounds coming from?" asked Link.

I looked up.

Everyone looked up as well.

It was the most scariest thing to ever see.

Hovering above the dome-like base was a mother alien spaceship. It was a million times bigger then the base which was just a metal dome with a couple of satellite dishes sticking out on the top.

Its shape looked like an X. It had a lot of lights that looked like a huge city. It started to hum because of all the energy in it. My ears went back in scared and irritated mode. The humming sound was what was irritating.

We all took a couple steps back. It was so huge. We were very stunned and didn't know what to say. Even Link didn't have a comment. Then the boom happened again and the ground shook. The impact of the shock made us fall to the ground. I held my ears again in pain.

"What is that thing!?" Susan yelled in horror over the booming sound. Then parts of the base start to give away and came down on us. We all screamed and got up and dodged the falling chunks. I spread my wings and flew while dodging the pieces of the base. Doc ran on all fours at top speed and easily got out of the danger zone before the rest of us.

B.O.B. got hit by some small chunks but didn't have to worry since his gel-like mass could handle it. The small chunks in his body slowly evaporated away in a swarm of bubbles.

We all ran behind a huge rock in the desert landscape. We saw why it was making the booming sound.

The alien mother ship was shooting at the base!

"Oh no! Insecto!" Link said loudly, just realizing Insecto was still in the base. He got up from where he was hiding and started to run back to the base.

"Link! No!" We all screamed to him, but he ignored us.

Suddenly a bright light shone where Link was. Link covered his eyes and looked up. Two helicopters were carrying a huge light and right behind it was Insecto. "Insectosaurous!" Link cried happily to his whale-sized friend. Insecto didn't hear him since he was so mesmerized by the bright light. Then the helicopters flew away and left Insecto.

Insecto roared and saw he was right in front of the huge mother ship. Insecto was 1/3 the size of the mother ship. He roared again and started to claw at the mother ship and eat it.

"Yeah! Go Insecto!" cheered Link.

We were still behind the huge rock and watched. We weren't sure whether to go out there and help, or let Insecto handle this one. Suddenly from above which I was guessing was coming from the middle of the X mother ship, a huge purple ball of energy. Then when it got so big it broke off from the source it was getting its power from and came down at Insecto.

We all gasped.

"Insecto Look out!" yelled Link.

Insecto stopped and looked at the…glowing light! His eyes got big and he stared at the light. The huge ball of energy hit Insecto square in the chest and exploded. Insecto's body fell to the ground with a stomach-twisting thud.

"No!" Link screamed.

Link started to run to Insecto to see if he was ok.

I flew over to Link and grabbed his arm.

"Let go of me!" Link yelled at me. Then a huge jet came down near us.

"Get in Monsters!" Monger yelled at us. Doc, Susan, and B.O.B. were already heading to the jet. I tried pulling Link to the jet.

"No! Insecto!" Link screamed and struggled to go to help Insecto.

"Link! We have to go!" I yelled at Link then grabbed his shoulder. I started to flap my wings to help me pull him to the jet.

"Not without Insecto!" he yelled at me and shrugged my hand off his shoulder. Then the mother ship hit the base and the whole base crumbled. The debris fell on Insecto and started to pile up on him. Insecto roared a weak sad roar then he was covered completely.

Link stopped fighting with me and looked down sadly at the ground. I felt tears coming to my eyes as I helped Link to the jet.

Everyone else was already in. Then the jet took off. I let go of Link as he slowly dragged himself to a dark corner. He didn't talk to us, but we understood his loss. We sadly looked down and thought of Insecto.

He was a brave monster I thought to myself and felt tears rolling down my eyes. Docs antennae drooped, B.O.B. sadly looked at the ground and Susan was quietly crying. Doc tried to comfort her by patting her hand she sniffed and wiped her nose with the back of her other hand.

We all felt really bad for Link since he knew Insecto a lot better then us, as we all rode in the jet away from the alien ship.
