Shelby followed as closely as she could behind Jason. He was quick his legs were longer than hers. She was his and this woman threatened to take her away from him. He could hear shouting his name. He wasn't going to stop. She can be as angry as she wants, but he will risk nothing to keep her with him.

"Jason please," She shouts at him. He continues to walk. He doesn't know where this woman is, but he will find her. He will make sure she leaves Shelby alone. She has a home and that will always be with him.

He lived far too long watching from a distance because his mother said that it was better that way. He shouldn't have listened to her. She was wrong his life is better with Shelby. She always cared for him. He couldn't understand why his mother kept her from him.

The past few months have been what should have been. Jason made it to the main road and kept walking. He knew what the woman looked like he had seen her when she visited Shelby at the hospital. He would knock down every door until he found her and got rid of her.

Shelby barely caught up to Jason. Her legs tired from pedaling. Her breath coming out in sharp and short pants. "Jason, stop. Please listen to me."

Jason abruptly stopped, causing Shelby to quickly brake and nearly fall of her bike. She took a second to breathe before she spoke. Jason whipped his head around and glared at Shelby. He wasn't mad, just irritated she would stop him. He was doing this for her, could she not see that. He wouldn't lose her again. Not to that boy, not to this woman. Shelby was his and he would protect her till his last breath.

"Jason, I don't want you to do this. I can handle this. Please come back home. I will make us dinner and we can talk about this. I told you nothing can make me leave you. I love you Jason. My home is with you and I am not going anywhere now let's go home." Shelby pleaded with her best friend. Jason shook his head. Shelby grabbed his arm and pulled. "Please."

Jason just shook her off and kept walking leaving Shelby behind him. She got back on her bike and followed him. She wanted nothing more than for Jason to turn around and go home. She knew that Jason did not take to anybody threatening her. She had learned that from the last group of people who came through.

"JASON!" Shelby tried to yell again, but it was fruitless he kept walking. He did not even know where he was going. She did not know either there were two motels to choose from. She prayed that Mrs. Hardy got the message and left town. She picked up the pace on her bike hoping to pass Jason and get to her first.

She pulled up next to Jason and reached for him. In doing so it caused her bike to swerve and she flew forward. She landed on her hands a sharp pain went up to her arm and into her shoulder. Jason stopped and looked down at Shelby.

"Please just go home. Forget her, I have." She cried out. Her head hung low. Her red hair covering her face as sobs racked through her small body. "I can't keep telling you this, please listen to me when I say you are the person I want to be around. We have only each other and I am perfectly fine with that. I love you Jason and I always will."

Jason tilted his head at and let out a deep soundless sigh. She was right he knew she was, but this woman kept coming for her. Nobody came after what was his. He bent down and picked her up. She clutched onto him wrapping her arms around his neck. She hadn't stopped crying.

"Jason go home," he heard his mother's voice in his head. He shook his head and turned on the path. Heading back to the protection of the house. Her sobs had lessened, and she pressed herself tightly against him.

It didn't take long to return to the house. Once inside Jason set Shelby down on the couch. He went to pull away, but she didn't let go. She held on tighter. He grunted and stood back up. He sat down with her in his arms. Honestly, he didn't want to let her go either. She lifted her head and looked up at him.

She didn't know what to say that she hadn't already said. She knew Jason understood. He was just too damned protective. She didn't mind truly she didn't, but it was misplaced this time. He didn't need to protect her from Mrs. Hardy. She had hopefully taken care of it. She knew that Jason was just trying to take care of her, but she didn't need it every time.

She reached up and placed a hand on his clothed face and felt him lean into her touch. "You are my world Jason, I am never leaving," she leaned her face up and pressed a kiss to his covered face. She heard him sigh and pull her closer. Jason no longer had the urge to go after the woman. Shelby was right. That woman held no threat to him. He had to learn to trust Shelby. He loved her, but he needed to listen to her. When it came to this, she was right.

"There are times that killing is the only option. This is one of them. She is just a mother in mourning looking for a way to bury the pain. And that is with me. When I was there it didn't feel like home. I knew where my home was. I was just too scared to come back on my own. So, when you brought me back. I may not have felt it right away, but it did return, and I will never go away from here again. You are home Jason." Shelby said feeling a bit winded after. "I just hope that I am the same to you,"

Jason pulled her closer as close he could get her. His grip almost hurt, but she didn't care. She was home and that was all that mattered to her. She hoped the third time was the charm.

Life went back to normal after that night. Well as normal as it could get with them. Jason was slowly learning to trust Shelby. He understood that she could take care of herself. She enjoyed her job at the store. Jason kept his traps set and kept unwanted campers away from the house.

They were comfortable and that was all Shelby wanted in life. She never dreamed in a million years that she would have Jason back in her life. Now that she was never letting him go.

A/N: Thank you to all the people who have read, reviewed and enjoyed this story. I have sadly come to the end of this story. It may not be forever. As I love Jason and Shelby. It wasn't an easy decision, but I feel that this is a good place for the story to end for now. Who knows when I will get the inspiration to write a sequel one day.
