Hey all.
I know it has been a while since I last uploaded a chapter. The main reason was because I was prioritizing my Studies, helping around the house, helping Family and recovering from a small Panic Attack.
With the entire Corona stuff going around, it is difficult for me and I may have been developing symptoms of Cabin Fever...I always knew that Beer is not good for you, otherwise they wouldn't have named this Virus after something else.

Chapter 23: Invasion
The Dragon roared in pain as the explosion sent it flying into the building behind it before it sent a roar at the ones who sent it flying in the first place.
Elsewhere in the City, 5 other dragons were being attacked by the other Mages in the City whilst the non-combat Mages were busy helping the Civilians evacuate, giving the Mages more space to go crazy.
Laxus and Wendy were duking it out with a Green Dragon near the Palace, Natsu was having a mid-battle snack in the market district, curtesy of the literal Flame Dragon, Sting and Rogue were attacking another Dragon who just sat there, seemingly asleep, Cobra was duking it out with a Rock Dragon, Gajeel, Gray, Juvia, the Strauss Siblings and everyone else from the Guild and the other Guilds were dealing with Dragonoids that were spawned by the sole Dragon not actively fighting.
And Naru and was engaged in a furious battle with the 6th 'grounded' Dragon, her body bleeding heavily as she charged the equally beaten up Dragon once more…
Some hours prior
Whilst the spectators were celebrating, the mood amongst the Fairy Tail Guild was rather sombre. They had yet to receive word from Team Mira who had gone to rescue Lucy in the Castle shortly before the start of the final event, and it was gnawing away at their nerves.
"Anything, Naru?" Makarov asked his planned successor, who was sitting cross-legged on a Barrel, so motionless that even those who knew that she was there either didn't see her at all, thinking that the room was playing tricks on their minds, or were wondering what the deal was with the Orange Pigments around her eyes.
"I don't sense them in the City." Naru spoke in a monotone voice that sent shivers down even Laxus' back at how Robotic she sounded. On her brow were beads of sweat, indicating how hard she was concentrating.
"That means they are either outside of the City or…" Porlyusica muttered.
"Clone 7 just popped…she found the Team Lucy and that Celestial Mage from Saber Tooth, Yukino-san is with them." Naru said, opening her eyes, irking some people at first at the sight of her toad like yellow eyes.
"Are they alright?" Makarov asked. "Where are they?"
"Natsu was busy demolishing a bunch of Royal Guards…inside the damn Royal Palace." Instead of looking shocked, Makarov just shook his head and muttered something about 'Brats' and 'needless destruction'.
"Yosh…let's go and bust them out." Elfman said, looking forward to brawling with a few dozen unfortunate Palace Guards.
"Elf-nii. Down boy." Lisanna admonished her older brother, though everyone could tell that she was concerned for Happy…Natsu was apparently alright if he was busy causing trouble as always.
"We can't do anything whilst a lot of our fans are out there and we are having a Parade in a few minutes." Makarov said.
"And I may not be able to get a Clone into the Palace." Naru said, the colour around her eyes disappearing. "Thanks to that Blockhead, the Palace has gone onto full alert and I sense numerous Barriers being activated around the Palace. The 5 different routes I know of getting into the Palace undetected have been blocked of by these Barriers."
"I don't know whether to be proud that you could have gotten into the Palace like that or horrified that there are any in the first place." He groaned.
"Meh. I found all of them when I snuck in here about a decade ago in order to persuade the Minister in charge of the Orphan fund to stop filching a chunk of the Money that was being allocated towards the Orphanages in the Rural Communities." Naru waved him off like it was nothing. "Getting in was the easy bit. Actually finding that Asshole and then making my way out of there without getting lost on numerous occasions on the other hand is impossible. Each Hallway is identical to the others…I swear I was about to blow up the section of the Palace had this cute little green haired girl not found me and helped me out. "
Whilst she was nonchalantly speaking of her past exploit, the other members of the Guild stared at her in shock.
Makarov coughed into his hand.
"YOSH! FROM NOW ON THIS IS A FAIRY TAIL SECRET! GOT THAT YOU BRATS?" he shouted. "ANYONE NOT AGREEING TO THIS, I'LL HAVE YOU DO 'THAT' FOR A MONTH!"
Instantly the others in the Guild agreed, not wanting to undergo the Fairy Tail's worst and most hated Punishment for a Month. Some considered 'That' as being second only to excommunication, if only barely.
That Evening
Naru was standing on the roof of the Tavern Fairy Tail was residing in, looking towards the Palace with a frown.
"You Ok?" she turned and saw Erza walk towards her.
"Something is about to happen…something Bad." Naru responded. "For once I hope that it isn't my Gut just feeling the effects of the Toad Sake."
Erza nodded. Even she felt the tension in the air, though it was slight enough for her not to notice it had Naru not been this weary.
Ever since the victory Parade through the City earlier that day, Naru had always had a frown on her face whenever she looked towards the Palace.
Just then the ground shook and a massive gate emerged from the ground in front of the Palace.
If the shaking had not woken up the entire city, then the dense wave of Ethernano washing over the City sure did.
"What was that?" Lisanna shouted.
"Everyone, be ready!" Naru shouted, alerting everyone within earshot. "Something is about to happen!"
Below her, the Mages of Fairy Tail tensed as they rushed out of the Tavern…
…just as the Giant Doors began opening, bathing the city in a bright white light.
"NARU!" Naru flinched when Kurama roared in her head. "SOMETHING DANGEROUS IS COMING FROM THAT GATE!"
Thinking fast, Naru turned to the assembled Mages below her. One small part of her mind recognized mages from other guilds in the growing crowd, all looking up at her.
"Everyone, prepare for Battle. Something is…" her shout was interrupted as the first Dragon walked through the Gate and roared to the Sky.
"Kami/Fuck!" Naru and Kurama said at the same time. "It's a fucking Dragon."
(A/N: The Fights between the Mages and the Dragons are mostly canon with the exception of the fight with Sting and Rogue vs. those 2 Dragons…in this case there is only 1 Dragon cause the other one is off fighting Naru…anyway, Sting and Rogue still get their asses kicked by that flying Lizard)
Minutes later, one of the Dragons leapt into the air, flying straight towards Naru, roaring a challenge.
"Shit. Erza, protect the Civilians. I will lead it away!" Naru said as she jumped to another building, the Dragon changing course to follow.
Naru jumped from building to building, looking for the least populated section of the City. Whilst still airborn, she was forced to use Wind Chakra to propel her to the side to avoid the Dragon's clawed hand swiping after her, though she was clipped by the tail, sending her spiralling into a building a few blocks away.
"Guess this will have to do." Naru muttered, climbing out of the hole she made, biting her thumb. "Time to bring in some help."
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu" she shouted, engulfing the building she was standing on in smoke, though the the entire city block then collapsed under the added weight of 5 Toads appearing on it.
"Naru, you fool. Why have you summoned us on top of a bloody Building?" Gamabunta roared, being heard all over the city.
"You see, I am clumsy!" Gamaken said, making everyone sweatdrop.
"Is it snack time?" Gamatatsu asked. "I am feeling kinda hungry."
"Seriously, Gamatatsu?" Gamakichi deadpanned.
"Hey Guys. Long time no see. Mind helping me deal with that Dragon over there?" Naru asked, pointing at the Dragon approaching.
"Dragon?!" The Toads asked, before their eyes followed Naru's outstretched arm.
"Seriously? First you summon me to deal with that Tanuki back home, then you sommon me for this?" Gamabunta shouted. "What the hell is your deal?"
"I thought you love a good fight but for now…DODGE!" Naru shouted as the Dragon sent a roar at them.
Anyhow, several more buildings would collapse.
"The land here seems drained of Natural Energy." Gamakichi commented.
"I think that that Gate by the Castle has something to do with it." Naru told him. "Can you guys buy me 20 minutes?"
"We can try, but remember, I am clumsy." Gamaken answered, pulling out his shield and sasumata (1).
Naru nodded, before disappearing to find a safe spot to gather Natural Energy.
The Dragon charged and the Toads followed suit with a roar, with Gamabunta and Gamaken charging headfirst, Gamahiro jumping up, hoping to attack from above whilst Gamakichi and Gamatatsu went for either flank of the Dragon.
The Dragon suddenly increased its speed and crashed into Gamaken's shield, pushing the purple Toad back, before lashing out with its' tail at Gamahiro, slamming the blue toad into the ground with a thundering crash.
Gamakichi managed to land a glancing strike with his sword, only for the Dragon to grab him and throw the orange Toad into his father, who had to drop his giant tanto in order for him not to impale his son. Gamatatsu then crashed into the Dragon and using all his 60 tons of mass to pin the Dragon to the ground in a grapple hold, making the Dragon roar in fury as it tried to escape the grapple. (2)
"Hurry, this Lizard is stronger than it looks." The yellow toad cried out. Gamaken, hearing the cry, burst out of the rubble and came rushing to the younger toads aid, landing a powerful strike to the dragon's side.
In fury, the Dragon sent its roar attack into the ground. The explosion momentarily distracted Gamatatsu, who loosened his hold ever so slightly. It was enough for the Dragon to slip out of his grasp and lash out with it's clawed hand.
With a loud clang, Gamakichi was there to save his brother, with Gamabunta not far behind to aid his sons. Gamahiro, having recovered enough to rejoin the fight drew both his swords and together with Gamaken and Gamabunta attacked the Dragon, only for their weapons to have little effect other than blunt force trauma on the Dragon.
"Nii-sama!" Gamatatsu shouted as the Dragon was momentarily forced onto the defensive.
"Let's do it, Gamatatsu!" Gamakichi shouted as both inhaled.
"Senpo: Dai Gamayu Endan" both Toads thought as Gamatatsu supplied the Oil and Gamakichi breathed Fire into the mess.
The Dragon roared as it felt the powerful attack hit its side. Suddenly, it changed tactics. With one hand, it grabbed Gamaken's Polearm whilst with the other it grabbed Gamabunta's arm before sending a point blank Roar at Gamahiro, who did not have enough time to dodge.
With angry eyes, the Dragon turned to look at the two toads.
"DIE, YOU DAMNED FROGS!" it spoke.
With surprising strength, it lifted and hurled Gamabunta into Gamaken, before blasting the both of them with another Roar.
When the dust settled, all three toads were still alive, but were forced to return to Mt. Myoboku due to their injuries.
The dragon then turned its attention to the Toad Brothers, who were charging at it now.
The Dragon slashed at them with its claws, breaking Gamakichi's sword and cutting deep into his arm whilst Gamatatsu got the skin on his side shredded. The Dragon was about to strike again when a fist struck it with the force of a freight train, sending it into the ground.
Meanwhile with Naru, moments
Naru opened her eyes and breathed in, defeated.
"I won't be able to make it in time." She muttered.
"Agreed…Let's synch up and go save that Frog friend of yours." Kurama said.
"Gamakichi is a Toad." Naru reminded him.
"Like I care." The Biju answered.
Back with the Fight
"Sorry for the wait." Naru said, looking at the Dragon.
"Sorry, we couldn't keep the dragon occupied long enough." Gamakichi ground, trying to stem the bleeding from his arm. He could see the bone clearly.
"Return home. I will take it from here." Naru told her friend with a smile. The next moment, she was wreathed in golden Chakra, her coat turning golden yellow whilst her cloths turned black, her skin turning pale and her hair turning red. Behind her, 9 tails swayed and Fox Ears grew on her head.
With a nod, Gamakichi and Gamatatsu reverse-summoned themselves back to their home, leaving Naru to fight the Dragon.
"Brave of you to send your allies away. It will only delay the inevitable. I will hunt them down and kill them, you know." The Dragon said as it stood up. Naru saw that the scales she had punched had minute, almost insignificant cracks in it.
"I will not let you harm my friends, you oversized Gecko." Naru growled, charging up a Rasenshuriken and throwing it at the Dragon, who roared in pain as the razor winds found gaps in its scales.
With this, the second round began.
The clash of Titans destroyed the buildings around them and even Kurama's chakra failed to protect Naru from the powerful Roar the Dragon sent at her pointblank.
However, her attacks were also breaking through the Dragon's defences, if only barely and for every time that the Dragon injured Naru, she injured it at least 2 dozen times.
Suddenly, whilst dodging a Roar, Naru found herself impaled by one of the Dragon's claws, making her cough up blood.
Sending her into the ground, the Dragon looked on in sadistic glee at it was about to crush Naru once and for all…
And that was when Ultear Milkovich turned back time by one minute.
Feeling a sense of precognition, Naru barely managed to dodge the claw, in return, managing to cut said claw from the Dragon's finger.
"What was that?" she wondered.
"No Idea, Kit. Whatever it was, it gave us the edge we needed." Kurama told her. "Anyway, Ready to use my Form when you are."
The Dragon, stunned by the loss if it's claw, took a few steps back, fear momentarily flashing through it's eyes.
Naru looked at the Dragon, before her chakra flared and surrounded her like a cloak, taking the shape of the mighty Biju. The Battle of Titans continued on for another 10 minutes, Tooth against Tooth, Claw against Claw, Dragon's Roar against Bijudama, until the Dragon began to glow and fade.
"Human, you intrigue me. What is your name?" the Dragon asked.
"Naru. Naru Uzumaki." Naru answered. "Friend of Kurama."
"Naru Uzumaki, friend of Kurama. I shall remember you until the end of my days." The dragon said. "I am…" unfortunately the Dragon disappeared before it could give its name.
"I may not know your name, Dragon, but I will remember you." Naru said, as her cloak dissipated and she clutched her shoulder where the worst of her injuries, whilst healed, gave her phantom pains.
It took 10 steps for the Fatigue to catch up to her. Sure, Kurama's chakra does heal her normally, however, both of them were putting their all into fighting the Dragon that Kurama was forced to only heal the bare minimum.
Naru managed another 20 steps before collapsing, her consciousness fading.
It was there, on the ground, that Erza and the rest of Fairy Tail found her not long after.
(1): Yes, that is a real thing, for those of you who live under a rock and think that Gamaken's Polearm was just some weapon created for the Anime…and yes, I have met one of those who believe that…
(2): No matter what I do, I can only picture Gamatatsu as a Sumo wrestler/grappler type fighter…

Anyway, there we have the fight with the Dragons. Next chapter will be the end of the GMG Arc and the beginning of the final Arc for this story, but fret not, I intend on adding at least 4 more chapters after this so the end is not so near.
Anyway…
I lost count of times I wrote, deleted and rewrote this chapter…or rather, the giant Battle between Mages and Dragons. Why? Let me explain.
I almost let the OP-ness of Naru get to my head and make her far too OP. I almost wrote the version where Naru just goes crazy on the Dragons and Future Rogue's Ass. I believe that that would have ruined the story.
While she is OP, she needs to be in her Sage + Kurama mode to really kick ass. So I decided to add in the detail that the Eclipse Gate was also draining Natural Energy just so that the fight wouldn't be over in just 400 words.
In her Base strength, she'd be as powerful as Edo-Tensei Madara Uchiha with Rinnegan, but not Jinchuriki Madara. (In this story, Naru is both older and more powerful than her Canon counterpart, so don't question it too much)
I tried to write the Battles for the other Mages, but the scenes transitioned in the Anime so fast that I gave up because I was writing numerous 30 word paragraphs. So I decided to just leave it as Canon and have Naru duke it out with another dragon some distance away. But even then, I needed to delete and rewrite several scenes again because I realized that it was veering off from my intended outcome.
Side Note: the Dragon that Naru fought was the Dark Dragon from the Anime.
Something that I think you guys will give me grief for is when Naru's mode when she and Kurama synch up, this being Naru's version of Naruto's Kurama mode without using Sage Mode.
My thoughts on this are that Naru uses Natural Energy to stabilize and contain the mass of Chakra inside her body, thus she does not have the Golden Color when she goes Sennin-Kurama-Mode like when she fought Jura…(though she could have the colour if she truly had gone all out).
And before you go on about Natsu defeating Motherglare…that is not true. Natsu was during it out with Future Rogue whilst Atlas Flame duked it out with Matherglare and it was a combined attack from both Natsu and Atlas Flame that took out both Rogue and Motherglare.
