Well, this is now the final chapter of ACoSP.
I know it might feel a bit abrupt, but...in all honesty, I couldn't see any sort of threat for Akari, and I feel like the rather peaceful life she was living doing random stuff at Hogwarts would have gotten old really quickly, so instead I opted for ending it quickly and moving to the next Universe, like tearing a scab away, quick and clean.
On Pat reon I have now decided that as long as the chapter is finished more than an hour before it's due to go live, I'll upload it so my Patrons can read it earlier than everyone else. There is also now a private discord for Patrons Only, so you can get in touch with me to make suggestions, ask questions, or generally just chat about things. So if you have a few bucks, I'd appreciate the support ^.^
Enjoy the chapter!
Chapter 24
The first thing Akari did when she Hiraishin'd home was to have a nice long shower.
It wasn't like there was any blood left, not with her clone Scourgifying it all away, but she just wanted to have a nice shower and relax. With Voldemort's head now in a seal and the rest of his corpse burned away with Fiendfyre, as well as seven Horcruxes destroyed, he shouldn't be able to come back again. of course, she had no intention to not remain vigilant for a while, there was a chance that he actually had eight or more, but it didn't seem likely.
After her nice long shower she went to Dumbledore's office, planting the seal down on his desk before he could say a word. "Voldemort's head is inside." When he opened his mouth to say something, she levelled a glare at him to silence his interruption. "I destroyed a seventh Horcrux and burned his body with Fiendfyre, so this head is all that remains of him, you'll need it to prove that he came back and was defeated again. Just...I was pretty pissed off with what I found in Albania when I killed him, so...he's not in a very pleasant shape."
When Dumbledore visibly prepared himself and nodded for her to unseal his head, she still had the experience of watching pure shock and revulsion appear on Dumbledore's face at the sight of Voldemort's mutilated face. "Merlin..." He breathed, looking closer at Voldemort's gouged-out eye sockets. "You...didn't kill him with magic, did you?" Dumbledore muttered in disbelief.
Akari shook her head. "No, I physically ripped his head from his shoulders for what he'd done. He had an alliance with vampires, and I came across several...'blood-bags', as I believe those fucking vampires called them. In the basement of the manor he was hiding in there were possibly hundreds of Muggles being used for blood to feed the vampires. And the females...well, I'm sure you can guess what happened when I stay that it'd have been better to be a male than a female when in the tender care of those decrepid beasts." Dumbledore gave a hesitant nod, his focus back on Akari as she withdrew a Senbon and picked at her nails.
Dumbledore stroked his beard for a moment before sighing. "You know that this will make you even more popular among the Wizarding World." Akari shrugged, she did know. The fact was that between her Henge and her Shadow Clones she really didn't have to worry about fame, she could always hide from it or send a Shadow Clone under Henge and not even need to go out and do things.
That was one bizarre change her clones had undergone. No longer did they belligerently refuse orders if Akari didn't have a good reason for them doing it. If Akari wanted a lazy day on the couch, she could order some clones to handle things, a far cry from before, where they would deliberately break plates, mess up tasks and other accidents to piss Akari off, their way to refuse orders. but now, they no longer did that, which was strange. "Well, what do you plan to do now then?"
Akari paused at that. She...honestly didn't know. She'd been focusing on dealing with those Horcruxes so Harry wouldn't get forced into a bullshit prophecy, but now that Voldemort's head was on Dumbledore's desk...she had no idea what to do next. harry was still distrustful of her, thanks to the fact that from Halloween to Christmas he'd had whispers in his mind telling him that she couldn't be trusted, that she was the reason so many things happened in his life, the sort of thing that just couldn't be forgotten quickly, even if Sirius was trying to get him to at least speak to her again.
Being frank with herself, the fact that he'd been turned against her so easily really bothered her, since Naruto...she knew he would never treat her like Harry did. The curse didn't seem to have actively compelled him, it was simply leading him to be horribly distrustful of her, despite all she'd done for him over the years, which Naruto would never have forgotten. Then again, she had the advantage that Naruto...she had known and cared for Naruto since the night he was born, Harry had already learned to be distrustful of adults thanks to his aunt and uncle by the time Akari met and saved him.
But the main issue was that Akari didn't have many anchors to the world any more.
Watching from a high window as the Hogwarts Express rolled out of the station, Akari let a sigh slip out of her lips.
The rest of the school year had been utterly uneventful, the most notable thing being when Hagrid had introduced her to Aragog, the leader of the colony of Acromantula within the Forbidden Forest. Meeting the elephant-sized spider was certainly interesting, as was the fear he displayed when he said he could smell the scent of a King of Serpents on her, referring to Nyoka no doubt.
Other than that, no much really happened. Kids got injured by virtue of being idiots, various exams were undertaken, the seventh years graduated, and generally life chugged on. That was partially what Akari was afraid of...life was moving on for everyone except her. The Entity wasn't one to lie about what something did, and so from that ageless boon he gave her those years ago, she knew she was not getting older. For the Wizarding World, her static appearance wasn't a surprise, since Witches and Wizards had vastly longer lifespans than Muggles, but when ten or twenty years went by, she was sure they'd start to notice that while they were finding the beginnings of wrinkles and grey hairs, Akari was still looking like her seventeen-year-old self.
But, on top of that, Akari had discovered over the years that perhaps she should have undertaken more caution during her fight with those vampires. She could recall being bitten by one, but since no symptoms aside from that single hot then cold flush she felt during the fight had surfaced, including no weakness to the sun, she assumed nothing had changed. Throughout the year, however, it was proven that she was changing just slightly, as her canines had elongated a little and sharpened, her hearing was better as was her natural sense of smell, though not nearly as strong as her Animagus form.
Fortunately enough she hadn't developed a need for blood, nor was she now incapable of going into the sun, but just to be safe she created twenty-five more receiver-tagged clones and immediately ordered them all to scour the entire world for all types of ingredients and items as well as farming experience, looking for anything and everything which could potentially become part of a cure for Vampirism. This left her with only around 500 energy regeneration per second, but she balanced this by cutting back massively on the clones wandering around Hogwarts, having only five patrolling rather than 25 and thus raising her energy back to 900 per second, which was plenty for any regular spells or Jutsus, especially with her 2.8 million points of an energy pool.
With those Hogwarts-roaming clones dispersing, that gave her the experience earned from them being stealthy and occasionally saving students from injury, along with regular experience gains from teaching and other events, meaning Akari now had another 1.2 million experience, as the clones earned an average of 7 experience per hour. That didn't count the now fifty clones currently roaming the world and doing whatever they were doing.
Akari had no idea what they were actually doing since none of them had dispersed, but she knew all 25, and now 50, receiver-tagged clones were still operational since her Chakra was being siphoned away still, as well as random items appearing in her inventory. How the fuck one of her clones managed to get her hands on the pelt of a Nunddu she had no idea, nor why she had a sudden assortment of other rare items like a string of dragon teeth, but she wasn't complaining, it just seemed her clones were being very efficient in getting experience. Even if they didn't kill a Nundu themselves, stealing a pelt would be certainly a difficult feat and would reward the thief with a good pool of experience for such a hard action.
She was going to be staying on at Hogwarts as the CMC Professor for another year, mostly for the advantage that she had a bunch of adorable animals she could still smother with affection, but after that she wasn't quite sure. She knew that the Entity had essentially given her an out, the bastard probably knew she was close to being out of the 'Potterverse' and had prepared accordingly, knowing that she had wanderlust and that there wasn't much left for her to even do.
One special occurrence was the trial of Peter Pettigrew, to which he, under the influence of verified Veritaserum, admitted to murdering twelve muggles and betraying James and Lily Potter, and thus was sentenced to death by Dementor's Kiss. Nothing really happened, he died just as he lived, cowardly and fearing his death, but his actions in trying to avoid his death led him to the same death. If he'd never betrayed the Potters them perhaps he wouldn't have ever died.
But there was one more person she had to track down before she'd be content to move onto her next Universe.
It took three entire years before her clones picked up a whisper of intel regarding her quarry.
They were obviously not searching directly for the target, they were all doing the jobs she'd assigned them, but they were all also keeping an eye out for hide or hair of the man. The clone in question had put a note in her inventory, as they were all under standing orders to only disperse after either a full five years of no contact passed, or Akari forcibly pulled the receiver seal back to her from them using the embedded Hiraishin, which she'd only do in an emergency.
The note was a little light on details, just that her clone had encountered a Muggle muttering the name of the target in a pub down in South America, as well as telling her that her clone had exactly where the pub was on the map she had available in the Game. Learning that her clones had truly dispersed across the entire world in the past three and a half years since she made them was rather amusing, but also mildly irritating since she'd never visited South America before.
She ended up flying from Land's End to Sydney, Canada, then from there flying south to Boston. When she landed in an alley, invisibly of course, and seamlessly started walking the streets, it struck her just how...different 1995 America was. After using a Confundus Charm on a Muggle and trading him $50 for £50, which was totally fair and not an abuse of magic even if he'd be rather confused at the appearance of British currency, she nipped into a fast-food diner and for the first time in...over 15 years had a proper American Hamburger. Of course, she'd played with making her own over the many years, but...it didn't have the same appeal as going into a cafe or diner and just having a casual hamburger and even a milkshake.
Of course, her attire got itself plenty of curious looks, since she was still wearing her crimson Jonin-vest, but mid-90's America was diverse enough that she merely got curious looks and not suspicious looks. There were also a few lecherous looks thanks to the short skirt and shorts she was wearing, but ignoring those was easy enough as she savoured her food then left, a few 'chads' getting up from their own table at the same time, though fortunately for them it was just similar timing. She didn't want to turn people into bloody messes while she was in the Americas, so having those guys take a different turn instead of following her was a good thing.
Eventually, she decided that sight-seeing on her way down to South America would be fun, and so she flew down from Boston down to New York, then utterly shamelessly went sight-seeing, flying up to sit on top of Lady Liberty's torch, and the very top spire of the Empire State Building, before she found her gaze attracted by the World Trade Center.
She made a mental note to get a Hiraishin marker on each of the four aircraft involved with the attacks, just so she could personally kick the asses of the fucks responsible. Maybe it would absolutely shred the original timeline for what America did afterwards, but considering how that single incident could likely be attributed to an outcome hundreds of thousands, probably millions of deaths, she felt that was fine.
From there she then visited Washington and decided to challenge herself by slipping into the White House, though just to be safe she did it under the guise of Kara, so she wouldn't get wanted if she got seen somehow. She could see the wards surrounding the place, so evidently MACUSA had taken steps to protect the President much as the Ministry protected Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street and various other places, not that it slowed Akari down, since with her Preta Path she pulled a tiny hole in the wards and slipped inside under the Kiri-Woka no Jutsu, wandering leisurely across the gardens and using a silent Alohamora to open a window, hopping inside.
In the back of her head, she recalled the room she entered as being the Vermeil Room, but before she did much more the door opened, a guard peeking inside with one hand on his pistol. Upon seeing the open window he raised a hand to his wrist, but before he could say or do anything she cast a non-verbal and wandless stunner at him, zipping over and catching him before he could hit the floor.
Laying him down, she then withdrew her wand and bit her lip. She'd never actually obliviated anyone before, so had no idea how this was going to go. After a few minutes she felt vaguely confident the incident had been erased entirely and as such she left the room, closing the door behind her. From there, she slipped up the nearest staircase for two floors then straight across the landing and into the Treaty Room.
The only reason she hadn't been seen was that she was invisible and a Quietus Charm kept her steps even more silent than they usually were, just for added security. With another Alohamora she opened the window leading out onto the Truman Balcony, then from there she slipped out and around to look into the Oval Office, resisting the urge to laugh at how easy it was to get eyes on possibly the most powerful Muggle on the planet.
Right then, if she really felt like it, she could have withdrawn a pistol from her inventory and shot him in the back of the head, then disappeared without a trace...but she had no reason to. She had no quarrel with Bill Clinton, nor did she feel like pissing off MACUSA or America at large, so instead, she settled for simply tapping a finger against the glass to get his attention. He turned around swiftly, but upon seeing nothing for a few moments he stood up and went to the window, looking out curiously. Akari hopped up onto the balcony wall and appeared to him, just for a second as she waved her fingers before hopping off the edge, her Sharingan memorizing his surprised expression as she disappeared off the edge.
The instant she was out of his sight she went invisible again and Hiraishin'd away to a rock she'd planted within the city, immediately removing her Nikutai-Teki Sakkaku Fuinjutsu (Corporeal Illusion Sealing Technique) and becoming Akari again, tucking it away in her inventory for later use. America would be looking for Kara, and Akari looked vastly different to Kara, so there wasn't anything tying them together, since even her clothing looked different, the vest having now been concealed and made to look more like standard military gear, complete with MOLLE pouches...which she only now realized hadn't been invented yet...
Oops.
Aside from that little incident, Akari's trip to America went pretty well.
She visited the American version of Birmingham, water-walked across the Mississipi river, travelled back north to visit Fort Knox and then flew to Mount Rushmore before saying fuck it and visiting Nevada. Well, not Nevada directly, just one city in particular. She'd already turned a bunch of her Galleons to GBP at Gringotts despite the bastards grumbling the whole way through, and then from there turned them into USD legitimately rather than confounding people and exchanging currency that way.
The most annoying thing that occurred when she reached the city of dreams, Las Vegas, was that she just...couldn't lose. Her luck stat obviously affected luck. Gambling is mostly luck as well as some trickery on the part of the house. With so much extra luck...she lost far, far less than she won. The best thing was that the casino couldn't figure out exactly how she was doing it since she was totally open and willing to let them observe every little part of the process. Eventually, the casino she went gambling at first gave her a suite but barred her from doing any more gambling. She was allowed to get drinks at the bar and stay for free for extraordinary luck, but she wasn't allowed to actually earn any more money at the casino.
Just because they couldn't prove how she was cheating didn't mean they weren't legally allowed to bar her from gambling, so Akari took it in stride and promptly left for another casino. Then another. By the time she was finished, all but two casinos on the entire strip had barred her. The two remaining ones were both hyper-stubborn and refused to bar her until they figured out how she was cheating so they could get her arrested, but since it all genuinely was just that Akari was hyper-lucky, they'd be waiting for years.
That was the best part. One Casino had detained her for a few hours on the reasonable grounds that they were suspecting she was cheating. But, no matter what they did, nobody could prove that Akari was in any way cheating and so they had to let her go, though of course she was subsequently banned from that casino for life. Not that being banned really mattered, since she could easily Henge into any other random person and go gambling.
After a week of ridiculousness she called it quits and left, though on the last day she was approached by what was basically the American version of an Auror and asked whether or not she was under the influence of Felix Felicis, since it was technically Muggle-baiting to use potions, most specifically Felix Felicis, to get advantages over them. Since she showed no symptoms of overuse of the potion despite the week of ridiculous luck, she was let go but warned that if she was caught using it, it was a hefty fine and potential prison-time.
Akari had no intentions to use the potion of course, not when her natural luck was pretty much a permanent Felix Felicis, but it was amusing to know that MACUSA thought her luck was equal to that of a Liquid Luck potion. With Las Vegas checked off the list, she left Nevada. Briefly she considered breaking into Area 51, but decided she'd been delaying getting to South America enough, though she left a Hiraishin marker for later.
So that she wouldn't get distracted, Akari flew south and out over the Pacific Ocean, cutting south-east after a few thousand kilometres of open ocean to intersect back over land somewhere above Peru. From there she used her map to home in on the bar her current target was spotted at. Her clone had helpfully described the looks of the person who was ranting about her actual target, so when she managed to reach the pub and entered, she could immediately see her target sat in the corner nursing a drink.
There were certainly easier ways to do things, just having the clone disperse or just put a Hiraishin beacon down, but the journey was certainly fun, so it really didn't matter. She slipped into a seat at the bar and put down a dollar, ordering a drink from the bartender. After a minute or two she took the drink and wandered over, settling down i nthe chair opposite the man as he raised his head to look at her, an eyebrow raising as he looked her over before huffing.
Deciding to be direct, Akari simply asked the man about her target, planting a tied-up roll of dollar bills when he started cursing and yelling at her, which shut him up fast as the gleam of interest came across his eyes. He reached to grab the bills, only to freeze as Akari faintly scratched the back of his outstretched hand with a Kunai before he could even react. Finally, after another minute or two of shocked staring he gave up the intel she needed.
Apparently the man used to own a plantation, but some guy came along and bought him out entirely. Not by buying just the land, but also the guards, workers and even the currently-planted crops. If he'd refused, he knew the 'puta' would have killed him, so he took the cash and was now blowing it getting tequila worms and cheap hookers. When pressed, he revealed the location of the plantation as being only a scant dozen kilometres away. Akari flicked the money across the table to the man who pocketed it, quickly drinking the rest of her drink before leaving the bar without so much as a by-your-leave.
Once out of sight she turned invisible and flew upwards, heading directly towards the plantation and flying over to it at a leisurely speed, spotting the telltale fields and armed guards pretty quickly. What was less obvious to the Muggles but stood out glaringly to her Rinnegan was the wards over the place which were presumably meant to repel any attacker.
Akari simply went straight through them, going for the largest building and slipping in through an upstairs window, though not before making a dozen Shadow Clones to go and clear out the plantation, knock everyone out then see how many witches or wizards he had employed. With a quick Quietus Charm to make sure she was silent Akari snuck through the halls, eventually coming up on a large double-door facing a grand staircase, so she presumed that was the head office and put her ear to the door, hearing the scribbling sound of paperwork being done.
She briefly considered how she was going to actually enter and surprise him, but decided that simply finding a guard and compelling him to enter somehow was the best. It took a minute, but eventually she found and Imperio'd a guard, giving him orders to find a benign reason to enter the room. Five minutes later the guard entered, letting her slip through as he gave his excuse for entering before leaving again, making her target shake his head with a sigh and get back to writing, all while Akari watched him. "I just don't get it."
She muttered, breaking her Quietus Charm and alerting her target to her presence, making his head snap up and look around the room in surprise, though his lips parted as he sighed, realizing she was in the room. "Why would you do it?" She asked softly, dropping out of the Kiri-Woka to reveal her position leaned against the wall, her eyes affixed to his.
"The same reason any businessman makes a bad decision. Because I didn't have any other choice. Voldemort was the only way for me to survive, or rather, the only way for-" Mordecai cut himself off, shaking his head. "It doesn't matter now. What came to pass did and now my judgment is due. I just wish to ask that you will not go after any of my...affairs, not for my own indiscretion."
Though Akari was momentarily enraged that he called resurrecting Voldemort a 'little indiscretion', she turned his words over in his mind, her jaw dropping slightly in realization. Seeing she comprehended why he did what he did, Mordecai simply laid down his quill and stood up, turning to face his window, giving her his back. "I..." She started, but shook her head, drawing a Kunai and in a single motion moved across the room and neatly killed him where he stood, faster than he could blink, letting his body fall to her arm and from there guided it down to the floor. As she turned to leave the room, she stopped and turned again, kneeling beside him and closing his eyes.
"I'm sorry..."
With Mordecai dealt with, that marked her last 'objective' as completed.
She had finished her employment at Hogwarts over two years ago, and had been filling the time learning about pretty much everything she hadn't already covered. Potions was one of her weaker points and so she had begun learning all she could about them. She had actually ended up getting into contact with Snape because she was about ready to blow up her cauldron since she couldn't manage to make a Draught of Peace no matter how closely she followed the books instructions.
He, fortunately, had pointed out that she was adding the wrong type of root, averting the disaster which would have been an exploded cauldron, before then giving her a textbook on potion-making that he himself had added notes to, on the basis that she give it back to him when finished. The notes were extremely helpful, to the point that she actually managed to make Veritaserum on the first try by following the instructions, which then got her to go through every single page and learn everything he had written to do differently. It was a bit surprising then when she had come across his own self-made spells, but she wasn't going to turn down new spells in her arsenal.
Besides, if he didn't want her learning them he would have told her so.
The next few years Akari spent refining her skills, visiting Konoha on occasion, and avoiding the Wizarding Public.
Harry graduated from Hogwarts with his most exciting moment being the troll attack during his first year which meant that Akari felt her job of protecting him had been fulfilled, he could now certainly protect himself if the seventh year DADA class she observed was anything to go by, plus he had rock-solid friends in the form of Hermione, Ron, and others who showed up in the later years like Luna Lovegood or Ron's sister Ginny.
Upon his graduation she dispersed the clones she had left wandering the halls of Hogwarts and protecting him, deeming him perfectly capable to look after himself without a clone looking over his shoulder. It was certainly amusing to learn that Luna Lovegood somehow knew that her clone was following Harry, but after a short and sweet conversation between the clone and the girl things were cleared up.
The relationship between her and Harry never really mended, since he still seemed unhappy with her even years after what had happened, and Akari was pretty content to simply leave him alone, so the only real contact they had was with Sirius. A bit of a shame, it would have been nice to mend their relationship, but Akari had Naruto, so she was happy.
Speaking of Naruto, the little ball of sunshine had actually learned the Hiraishin from his father without telling her during her visits, just so he could surprise her with it. Since they shared blood he didn't have to rework the seal like Akari did, the Hiraishin adjusted to him automatically, but he certainly had to work hard to avoid the Hiraishin equivalent of being splinched.
Nyoka was also pretty happy, she'd put him on the same island she left the Gringotts Dragon on, and the two of them seemed to get along pretty well. Telling Anko about them was also certainly an amusing situation, since the woman practically begged Akari to let her learn to use the Hiraishin so she could visit them any time, going as far as to offer her first-born, though Akari just brought Nyoka and let the two get acquainted anyway, since she was sure she'd end up having Nyoka live with her until he got too big.
It was certainly a nice chance to give Monty some affection, having not seen the snake much recently. She was absolutely massive now, a far cry from the small scarf-sized snake she'd found all those years ago, but still just as much a sweetheart as ever, coiling happily around her neck and flicking her tongue out at her. When she brought up to Anko the fact that she was going to go somewhere else, somewhere even she didn't know about, the woman expressed worry in her place, though Akari assured her that if things went badly she could always travel straight back in the blink of an eye.
She then shifted to other topics, asking about her old team, and learning that Aiko had actually made Tokubetsu Jonin last year, and Hikaru was made a fully-fledged Jonin not three months past. Tachiko wasn't officially a Konoha Kunoichi any more since she was spending years away in another Universe, which meant she couldn't get ranks, but she was still widely regarded as powerful, and Dakarai certainly held his own, earning himself a place in Konoha even if he couldn't use Jutsus just by virtue of his implacability and the fact that he could use minor magic which utterly fascinated the Konoha-nin.
Minato had apparently expressed an interest in having him teach his 'magic' to the Konoha-nin, but Akari didn't really care either way. if they learned then that was cool, if they didn't then whatever, the only thing she wouldn't stand for would be if Dakarai or Tachiko were forced to teach others magic. It was their choice after all. She and Anko did go for a wander through the village, letting her see all the changes that cropped up over the years, buildings she remembered having bee long-since torn down and new ones built in their place, though the old Ichiraku's was still standing, and still very much Kushina's favourite food-stand, her red-hair visible even from a distance.
Akari ended up spending nearly a month in Konoha before she went back home, most of it spent doting on Naruto and whining that he was growing up too fast.
With the ten-year anniversary of her ripping Voldemort's head off, Akari had decided that was the day she would leave.
Each of her receiver clones had earned roughly 1000 experience per hour in their adventures, since they were doing so many unique things. Divided by 100 for the fact they were all Shadow Clones meant that having 50 clones working earned her 500 experience per hour...added to that the fact they'd been going for ten years and she had a dumped experience gain of...43.2 million experience points, which was actually a bit less than she was expecting. If she'd done her 5 clones a week for ten years, subtracted one year for the ramp-up period, she would have earned about 102 million.
Still, that still jumped her all the way up to level 460. She debated for a moment before rounding all her stats off at 300, then dumping 200 into strength and the remaining 75 into luck. She only got a new perk for her strength, but it was certainly a doozy.
Move a Mountain - For reaching 500 points of Strength, Move a Mountain has been unlocked, granting a 10x strength modifier against any enemy with more than 2x the size of the player, with an additional 25x modifier if enemy is more 5x the size of the player, stacking for a 35x total modifier. Against inanimate objects or deceased foes, strength increases the larger the object is compared to the player.
Since Akari didn't actually know how strong she physically was, she asked Kurama if he could help her test it. When she managed to lift his full Juubi-sized form up, that was when they both realized that the Move a Mountain perk might have actually been one of the strongest she'd gotten yet, only eclipsed by her Speed Mastery. One thing that did occur was that she got a new title.
Title: Assassin - 200% increase to damage on unaware enemies, 100% experience for stealth attacks
As her Jonin title was utterly useless to her now, she swapped it out. There were a few other titles she'd earned and ignored, though ones like Wizard, which gave her extra experience when killing or injuring enemies with spellfire, would certainly be worth looking into. She was obviously keeping Animal Tamer, it meant she barely had to fight any animals, and even those were rare since coming across someone who controlled animals to fight was rather rare, and to then find someone willing to fight her as well was even more so.
She looked around her now-barren apartment with a nod. Akari had told Kreacher that she was going to go to, for lack of a better word to use, another 'place', one far away, and she wasn't sure whether or not upon calling him he'd actually be able to come with her. That prompted Kurama to remind her that she could just go to Konoha and call his name.
It was a nice surprise to see that upon calling his name Kreacher appeared with a pop, though according to the old house-elf it was pretty disorienting. He was very interested in where they'd gone, so Akari told him that so long as he was careful and didn't reveal himself too overtly he could have a wander around before going home, then putting a scarf around his neck and telling him to simply gesture towards the scarf if anyone challenged him, since practically everyone in Konoha would recognize one of her old scarves.
He looked like he wanted to protest, but eventually grumbled and wandered off, his thumbs rubbing the end of the scarf when he thought she couldn't see. She wasn't worried about him trying to break away from her for her giving him clothing, he seemed pretty content to live with her. That confirmed, Akari went back home and threw the last few items in the apartment into her inventory, then left and locked up for the last time, taking down all her wards and barriers.
If she ever had to come back, then she'd probably just ask Sirius if she could live at Grimmauld Place for a while.
Since Akari was pretty bad at saying goodbye, she settled for leaving notes.
Most of her friends, Narcissa and Andromeda for example, knew she was planning to leave at some point, though where or when eluded them. Sirius had a vague inclination but he was busy enough with other things that he never asked. Harry, of course, she didn't speak to anymore anyway, plus he was enamoured with the Unspeakable position he'd gotten at the Ministry.
Outside of those close-ish friends, nobody had any inclination that she was about to disappear, and that was for the best. If the Wizarding Public learned that their saviour against Voldemort's return was planning to leave, there'd be protests up and down Diagon Alley for her to stay. Of course, said protests wouldn't do anything to dissuade her, if anything it'd make her want to leave faster, but it was just easier to leave the public blind, at least in regards to her leaving.
Surprisingly, when she visited the Tonks residence, 'Dora' as she was now allowing Akari to call her had somehow pieced together what she was planing and asked if she could come along, to which Akari belatedly, and after copious bribes and tear-filled eyes of course, promised that as soon as she was sure it was actually safe she would bring the Metamorphmagus along with her. Kami knew that Dora's mother would kick her ass if she got her daughter hurt, and she'd let her do it, since she wouldn't be happy if she got Dora hurt either.
She left Kyaria with Naruto as a late or early birthday present, though still retained full permission to go and see the beautiful owl at any time, simply because she wasn't sure what sort of state the Universe she was going to next was going to be in. If it was hyper-dangerous and she was instantly thrown into conflict then she didn't want to be dragging anything precious to her into the fight, not if she could totally handle it alone.
After finishing and dropping off her last note, Akari took a final deep breath, then opened her menu and selected the new re-embark option, disappearing without a trace.
And that's a wrap.
I never was very good at saying goodbye, and since Akari is half a self-insert and half wish-fulfilment character, she does what I'd do in that situation, try to slip away without too much notice. Now, since she has her fast travel she can return to the Narutoverse and Potterverse freely, but I might end up nerfing or even removing that function.
Maybe I could have her visit one final time to say goodbye to Naruto on his deathbed, then swear off of going back, not unless she absolutely had to. I don't know. Don't forget to go and vote on the poll for what Universe you want Akari to visit next, the top few are still so close to each other that a single vote might tip the balance.
I do want to ask whether you boos want me to reset the poll with just the top three, that way even if your choice wasn't the top one you have a chance to perhaps pick one you'd favour over the others? Admitting it now, I'm mostly doing this because the current top story is one that, when actually considering it, I'm not too confident that I could write it in a way you would all enjoy. I won't point fingers, and I'd let you all freely decide, but...I'm curious if you'd like that?
Again, huge thanks to my first Patron DarkDailer, you have no idea how much it meant to be to know my work is worth actual money to someone =D
And...for the final time in A Collision of Sorcerous Proportions, I sincerely hope you enjoyed!
