Riding the broom on Halloween had become an extra-special Burkhart family tradition. The only one who didn't seem to really like it was Adalind. Mom thought it was too dangerous... Nick would borrow her hat to ride with Elizabeth and the kids. He had even gotten the hang of riding the broom by himself.

Elizabeth had started bringing some of her witch friends under the guise of celebrating... But actually to see "The Grimm" and what sort of Halloween hijinks he would get into this year. Nick Burkhart had become a Hexenbiest internet sensation.

They didn't believe her - a Grimm?... But there he was... An actual real life Grimm in the hat riding the broom on Halloween... And since he had no magic ability or any idea how to control any of it - it was guaranteed to be funny. Nick was never one to disappoint. And of course they all had to take pictures and video of that.

Nick was always surprised when strange things would happen when he was wearing the hat... For example, sometimes electrical sparks or fires would come out of his hands.. Sometimes things would levitate or explode. Sometimes he would hear strange voices or see things. He asked Adalind about it and she didn't know... He asked Elizabeth - she couldn't stop laughing and snapping pictures to show her friends. So he asked Monroe...

"Monroe, something weird happened last night when we were riding the brooms."

"Like weirder than your normal weird?"

"Yep."

*snicker* "Try me."

"I lit my beer on fire."

"Huh? How do you light beer on fire?"

"I am not really sure. Fire came out of my hand and lit my beer on fire."

"Wait? Out of your hand?"

"Yeah."

"Wow, that is weird for you. This might be your new record... Did anything else happen?"

"I blew up Adalind's cellphone."

Monroe is snickering "I bet she wasn't happy about that!"

"Nope. Lightning came out of my hands and zapped it."

"Huh?"

"Yeah. Zap - kapow. She's still mad. So guess whose buying her another new phone today."

"How did you do that?"

"I don't know. I was wearing her hat after a broom ride and kapow.. Beer on fire... Then later on same thing except different.. Adalind's phone Kaboom."

"Did you ask Elizabeth?"

"Yeah, she was laughing so hard she fell on the ground. She could barely even breathe. She just kept taking videos and snapping pictures."

"Weren't a couple of her Hexenbiest friends there too? Did they say anything?"

"All of them were rolling around on the ground laughing so hard they couldn't even talk."

"Do you have any of the video? I gotta see this."

*grumble* "Of course. They already posted it on facebook."

They play the video... There's Nick wearing the hat after a broom ride. He is walking over to the picnic table when blue fire starts coming out of his hand... He isn't paying attention and reaches for his beer and zammo - it's literally on fire.. As in melting the bottle on fire...

THEN he sees his hand on fire and starts flapping it, shaking, and running all over the place. Adalind is concerned but everybody else is laughing like crazy. You can hear laughter and old women yelling "Stop running! You have to relax" and so forth... Next he sticks his hand in a huge bucket of water - and that catches on fire too and burns the whole bottom out of the bucket... Now he is running around and flapping more and so forth. Finally Diana jumps up and takes the hat off his head and it just stops. Adalind runs over to check on Nick. He looks over and his beer is *still* on fire. The beer finally burns a hole through the table and falls on the ground then Nick douses it with a fire extinguisher. Everybody is laughing so hard they are holding their sides and limping.

Monroe is laughing so hard he is crying. He calls Rosalee in and shows it to her. Now she is rolling with laughter...

Nick interrupts them after the 6th time watching the video "So.. Any idea what that was all about?"

Monroe is holding his sides "No clue dude! That's definitely a new record for you..."

Rosalee looks at him still laughing "Please tell me they got video of the lightning?"

Nick grumbles "Of course they did... and you want to see it?"

They are both smiling and nodding.

They watch the video and there's Nick with the hat walking into the kitchen. He reaches for the fridge door and lightning starts flowing out of his hand. He jumps back and it's zapping all over the place, sparks are crackling across everything in the kitchen as he flaps his hand around. Lightning is burning tracks into the bar, cabinets, fridge, and ceiling.

Her phone rings and Nick reaches for it. the lightning is still blasting out of his hand and goes right into her phone. The pink cellphone explodes into a huge fireball of sparks as Nick is looking on petrified. Everybody is running around, ducking, trying to get away as the lightning flashes out of his hand. And of course everybody is laughing and taking pictures... Finally Adalind runs up yelling at him and takes the hat off - and it just stops. She holds up the roasted phone with a scowl and he looks at her sheepishly apologizing.

Monroe and Rosalee are laughing so hard they are rolling and falling out of their chairs.

Finally, choking back laughter Monroe says "So, Emperor Palpatine, Call us up next time so we can come over!"
