-AN End-

Elizabeth had just gotten to the hospital and was starting her shift. After a long night she was still a little tired, pregnancy making her sleep something that is hit or miss. The baby girl kicked quite a bit when she woke in her bed. Franco had carried her in and put her into the bed before crawling in next to her. It was almost like the baby knew about all the chaos and when things were calm decided they were missing it as she kept her mother up for an extra hour of precious sleep before an early shift.

She, despite her shift starting and her husbands not starting for another hour, was with him at the hospital. They needed to carpool to be able to pick up the abandoned car from last night to get it home in the evening. He rode the elevator to the same floor: Ava's.

Franco was going to see if he could get any information. Julian would probably be the best to ask if Nikolas was in the same condition as before. Or just in general as Nikolas and him didn't really get along the best.

When they saw Julian sitting on a chair looking annoyed they stopped.

"I'm gonna go see Epiphany," She let him know. "See what you can find out from Julian."

Liz made her way over to where Epiphany was. Despite working the night shift Epiphany looked fine and as dominant as ever.

"Epiphany, is there any way I could be moved to Ava Jerome's care?" She asks her hopefully.

"I suppose I could move some things around." Epiphany agreed, helping out her dear friend and fellow nurse.

"Thank you!" Liz said genuinley happy her friend could help her.

Epiphany handed her a binder and she took it from her hands. She looked down and saw it was Ava's files she was handing her. The nurse working with her must have placed it there in between things for updates, but now Liz was taking it over.

She opened it up and scanned things. She found nothing new except for a few vital updates and the fact she'd been admitted to a room for longer term patients such as people in comas.

She turned her head to look over at her husband and Julian to see Julian looking very upset. Not the 'my sisters in a coma i'm sad' type of upset though, this was the 'i'm gonna hurt someone i'm so upset' type. She made her way over quickly.

"It's ridiculous!" Liz was able to hear Julian exclaim as she came into earshot and up to them.

"What is?" Liz asked.

"Nikolas!" Julian says. "He's been in there the whole time and all I wanna do is see my baby sister. If anyone should be in there it's not him!"

Liz sighed. She understood where Julian was coming from. He didn't trust Nikolas. Not just because he knew the marriage was a sham but because he knew Nikolas and how he was. Julian would always be protective but with this he had his reasons. And he deserved to see his sister, someone Ava would no doubt want with.

"I'd object but he's got a good point," Franco says. "Since when does Nikolas even care this much? I've never even spend this much time together when she's awake."

"Exactly!" Julian says. "I don't know what his deal is but i'm not gonna just wait out here! I actually care about her!"

"Look, I'll go talk to Nikolas." Liz says quickly stopping Julian from rushing past her. "I'll make sure you get time to see her, see her soon, okay? Just let me handle this."

Julian gives a defeating sigh and flops back into the chair. She takes this as co-operation, at least for now. Franco takes a seat with him and she makes her way to room 303.

"Hey Nik," She says trying her best to sound positive, hoping it can rub off on him. "I got the position to be one of the nurses looking over Ava, I can keep an eye on her now, just like I promised."

He gives a nod signaling a thank you. He looks the same as before but even more tired if possible. She's positive looking at him he hasn't slept a wink. She's not sure he's even moved from that spot.

"Did Laura stop by last night?" She asked him, finding something to open him up to finally speak.

"Yeah," He says. "I sent her home after a little though, it was late and she needed to sleep."

"Speaking of sleep, why don't you try and get some?" She hopes this will be easy, but knows it won't.

"How could I sleep?" he says so softly she barley hears it.

"What about eat?" Liz says. "I would bet a lot you haven't eaten since the party, even then I saw you only picking at a few things."

"Not hungry." he mumbles.

"The thing is, your body doesn't really care if you are or not, it still need food."

Nik rolled his eyes. "No thank you."

"Nikolas if you don't take care of yourself who's gonna take care of her?" Liz argues.

Nik is silent and contemplating. Obviously he was tired. Even if he agreed to try and sleep though he's not sure he could. He's also not sure what will come in his dreams. Will it be a break from this or will it be even worse than what he's dealing with now.

"I don't wanna leave her alone." he says sounding broken.

Liz knew that while he was looking desperately for excuses to not be taken out of the room by her that this was all true.

"She won't be." Liz tells him. "Julian really wants to see his sister, I bet she would wanna have him see her too."

Nik says nothing.

"Franco is also here." She says, not sure how much weight that it holds.

"What if when I come back she's gone?" He asks her openly, looking at her with his big eyes.

Liz walks around to the back of his chair and puts her arms around him comfortingly.

"Can't think like that, gotta be strong for her." She says. "Which includes getting rest and eating, so please come with me and help her by helping yourself."

She walks around to the front of him and offers her hand out to him. He looks at it cautiously, scared to take it. But slowly he does and he's letting her lead him out of the room. His whole stomach drops when he realizes he's out of the room, that he can't even see her anymore. He looks through the door window longingly.

"We will all be looking over her, don't worry." Liz says.

But he would worry, because how could he not?
