July 13
I spent much of my afternoon with Sango today. Of course, I love being with Inuyasha, but nothing beats a little bit of girl time.
I helped her out with her laundry while the girls ran around in the yard. Afterward, we put them down for a nap, we made some tea, and then we sat in the living room to talk.
"So how was the honeymoon?" Sango asked.
"It was so nice," I said thoughtfully. "We had so much fun."
Sango continued to look at me expectantly. "Oh yeah?"
"What?"
"So what happened?"
"Geez, Miroku is rubbing off on you more every day."
She laughed. "Well, you don't need to go into explicit details."
I laughed as well. "Alright, well it was just so romantic. We went to an island and the place was beautiful. There was a hot spring and it was just...wow." I nearly had to catch my breath when I thought of that part and Sango giggled a bit. "We spent a lot of time on the beach...and spent a lot of time on the beach naked." Sango laughed again. "Inuyasha is so romantic. We stayed in this nice hut and apparently he had come there a few days before and put rose petals all over the bed and set up a bunch of candles."
"Aww, that's nice. Inuyasha is such a sweetheart."
"Inuyasha learned how to surf and almost drowned."
"What's surfing?"
I explained it to her and how Inuyasha made a surfboard.
"That sounds just like him."
"We also saved a group of tanukis from a tree demon and helped baby sea turtles cross the beach into the ocean."
"Leave it to you two to end up in a situation like that on your honeymoon!" Sango said laughing. "It sounds like it was a great time though. Looks like you're still in the honeymoon phase too."
"Does it ever end?"
"Well once kids get in the picture things aren't exactly romantic all the time when you're changing diapers and trying to get the baby to stop crying at night instead of having sex. But Miroku and I still keep the romance alive. I'd say we're in a different version of the honeymoon phase right now."
"I hope Inuyasha and I are like that."
"Considering how much that man loves you I'd say you will be. I think the key to a happy relationship is to always keep the romance alive, even if it's in small ways."
Then the door opened and Inuyasha and Miroku came in.
"Hey beautiful ladies," Miroku said. He sat next to Sango and hugged her.
Inuyasha also sat next to me and hugged me and kissed me. "What are you girls talking about?"
"That's none of your business," Sango said. She and I exchanged a knowing look while our husband's just looked confused.
"We got a letter asking for us to come to perform another exorcism in a couple of days," Miroku said, pulling out the piece of paper. "It's from a rich lord who needs us to exorcise a demon from his temple. Looks like we can pull out a hefty compensation for this. Will you be joining us, Kagome?"
I certainly did want to come. It sounded exciting and I didn't want to be away from Inuyasha for such a long time. But I also felt bad that Sango would be left alone with the children. "Well, maybe I should stay with Sango to help out with the children."
"Oh Kagome, you're very sweet but don't worry about me," Sango said. "Rin is around and she can help out if I need it. You go with them and have fun."
"Okay then, I'll go." I felt Inuyasha squeeze my hand and when I looked up at him he met my gaze with a smile. I could tell he was glad that I was coming. We hadn't spent an extended amount of time apart since I'd returned and I don't think either of us are ready for that yet.
"Plus you can keep Miroku in check for me while you're there," Sango whispered to me.
"What are you saying about me?" Miroku asked.
"Oh, nothing at all dear," Sango said innocently.
I'm really looking forward to going on the exorcism. It'll be kinda like old times I think. According to Miroku, we leave in two days.
