Chapter 35

The next day, scouts were assembled in the dining hall. They were seated, wearing their civilian clothes, looking at their Commander who was standing before them with a grim expression.

And so it starts... Law thought as Erwin revealed the truth, the conspiracy in the walls and Krista's true identity. He watched as the colors and expressions on the scouts faces changed.

Everyone, sans those who are already in the know and the pirate captains, felt everything was just a dream- a terrible nightmare. For them, it felt like it was just yesterday when they were fighting for their lives, watching their comrades getting eaten, feeling all hopeless as they ventured out to look for the truth that has been hidden for a century.

"Our duty- the duty passed by out by the predecessors to us- has been to explore, investigate the truth for the sake of humanity," Erwin looked each one of their faces. "However this truth- the truth that everyone died for- won't ever reach the masses if we don't do anything about the royalty!"

Everyone understood what their Commander was about to say. Inevitable. Rebellion was inevitable. Soon their hands will be stained with their fellows' blood.

"Fuck," Jean exclaimed to himself. His arms were propped up on the table while his hands held his head which slumped on it. His voice sounded very distressed. "We're killing people next... Hahaha."

Marco let out a helpless smile. He patted Jean's back. "It can't be helped... We have to do this or we're the ones who are going to die."

"It's either we get killed by them or the titans get us," Ymir said. She looked at Historia, who was sitting beside her, worriedly. She had told her the secret yesterday and the girl was shocked. It was fortunate though that she hadn't been repulsive of her. "... That old man is too much! He is putting so much responsibility on you."

"It's okay," Historia said. She looked at Ymir with conviction. "You're going to be with me, aren't you? I think as long as Ymir going to do what she promised, I will be able to do these responsibilities well."

Ymir looked like she was a kid who received her first candy as soon as she heard her words. She took Historia's hand and gripped it. "Yeah..."

"..." Jean squinted his eyes. The two girls were right at the opposite side of the table of him and Marco. He couldn't help but have an illusion of seeing blooming flowers.

Marco nudged him back to reality. "Jean, don't be rude."

"Okay, okay..."

Since they were going against the royalty, there was no doubt that their enemies this time were the Military Police. Everyone was asked to be careful from ambushes whenever they go out before the assembly was adjourned.

Law and Luffy's respective squads stayed in the hall as Erwin approached. Behind him were Hange, Levi and co.

"I heard from Law," Erwin began. His eyes were on Armin who squirmed albeit in his seat, seemingly nervous. "It wasn't bad. Law, try to convince Leonhart. Hange will facilitate on Eren's training..."

Annie didn't know what to feel as soon as she saw Law again in front of her. The feelings she had were mixed: frustration, annoyance, fear .

She almost hissed at him. "... What do you want from me this time?" she asked with gritted teeth. "I already told you everything ."

"We want you teach you Eren how to crystallize," Law said directly without going into circles that people usually do. It wasn't a request to boot.

" Hah? " Annie looked at him incredulously. "You must be joking..." Her expression became complicated, eyebrows furrowed together with her lips turned down into a frown.

"Hardly," Law said. "Are you up to it?"

"Can I even refuse?" she glared at him.

"You can't," Law said with a smirk.

If Annie could, she'd like to punch his face in. It was really annoying and anger inducing. For Annie who always had an indifferent attitude on everything, this was the first time she was angered to the point of puking blood and she could barely stop herself hurting someone.

"What... do you want to use it to," she forcibly calmed herself down. "You think it's easy to learn? Just ask me and then I teach then Eren can magically learn it?!"

Law certainly thought it wouldn't be easy to learn. If it had been, the Colossal Titan would have simply bulldoze his way through all the way to the inner walls.

"I don't really care if Jaegar-ya could learn it or not," Law said. "I still got plan B in case of emergency."

Plan B aka let everything loose. Luffy breaks through everything, beats up titans and stuff while he can go watch while sipping coffee, only supporting when needed to. As for why only Luffy doing most of the job... Law finds it overkill to send out 2 strong people- one of which the Pirate King to boot, just to deal with such a minor conflict.

(If anyone from the scouts or Marley, alive or dead, heard Law call their century of war as minor, they would have laughed in anger or try to choke him to death.)

Annie felt herself get exhausted. This man before him was too illogical . She couldn't understand what was running in his mind. All things happening around him was unthinkable. Just like during that time in the forest... It took just a second and like that she had been all cut up, unable to move or anything-

"Won't I get sliced up by people if I showed my face to face to them," she asked bitterly.

"Doubt it," Law said. "Maybe the older scouts would. But 104th people would just question you to death."

"..."
