"Bridget, are you awake yet?" Brad whispered, running his fingers across my earlobe and I mumbled something. Once I finally opened my eyes he gave me a tiny grin lightly touching my cheek as I turned my head enough to stare up at him. "You've been sleeping for..."He paused, looking down at his watch for a few seconds, "Twenty-four hours now."
"A full day?" I mumbled, pushing myself up by my elbows. "Wow...I was have been exhausted."
"Yeah you didn't even notice when I carried you out of the heliopter. I laid you down on this bed and you didn't even stir once." Brad explained, flicking a strand of hair away from my forehead. "I've been checking on you whenever I could but you've been out cold."
"Brad, I thought you were in here earlier and we were fooling around." I asked and he raised an eyebrow at me as I rubbed at my eyes. "Maybe I just dreamed it." I finally admitted and he nodded, lightly kissing my forehead.
"Must have been some dream. What exactly was I doing to you?" Brad asked and I coughed, feeling a blush creep onto my face as Brad stared at me. When I turned my head slightly he grinned reaching up as he did and I blinked as he turned my head back to face his. "Oh no you're not getting out of it that easily. I need details, Bridget."
"That's not funny, Brad." I muttered and Brad just kept smiling as he leaned in brushing his lips against mine. "Not funny at all." I added, tilting my head to one side so that Brad could kiss me properly.
"Bridget, were you serious about earlier in the helicopter?" Brad whispered in my ear and I shivered as he kissed my throat. "About spending a week in bed wrapped in my arms?" He prodded, nuzzling my throat when my eyes widened.
"I was drugged out of my mind, Brad. Now that I'm feeling more like myself I wouldn't mind spending a little time with you alone." I agreed and Brad nodded, nipping at my neck hard enough to produce a weak gasp from my lips.
"I was hoping you would say that, Bridget." Brad whispered, his teeth finding my earlobe next and I melted as he nibbled it. I was soon lying on the bed light gasps pulled from my mouth as he kissed his way down my neck his fingers trailed down my shirt ending up on the buttons keeping it closed.
He had barely opened my shirt, his lips moving to the base of my throat when we heard a knock and I groaned, closing my eyes. Brad started to turn towards the door until I draped my arms around his neck and he hesitated. Glancing at the door for a few seconds he started to lean towards me until we heard the knock again, a little louder this time and I rolled my eyes as Brad shifted away from me climbing from the bed as I stared up at the ceiling.
"Typical. When we finally have a moment alone and we're not in danger someone interrupts." I grumbled, turning over to see Brad opening the door revealing Emily and Matthew who gave Brad a smile until they saw me with my eyes narrowed at them.
"Sorry guys if we interrupted something but we were wondering if you'd like to get something to eat." Emily asked, hearing my stomach growling a few seconds later and I sighed. Raising from the bed I joined Brad at the doorway who gave me a tiny smile, wrapping an arm around my shoulder when I let out a breath.
"Yeah I guess eating would be a good idea." I admitted, leaning a little on Brad's shoulder. "Feeling a little weak now that I'm standing."
"Probably because you've been sleeping the day away." Brad commented as he slowly and carefully led me through the building towards the promise of a meal. We made it even with me leaning on Brad most the way and as Emily pushed open the door I let out a shaky breath, running a hand over my face and when it came away wet I stared at the sweat on my fingers.
"Maybe...I should be resting." I muttered, feeling Brad's arm around my waist. "Still a little woozy."
Those words were barely out of my mouth when my vision blurred and once Brad saw me shaking his grip on me tightened his arm the only thing preventing me from crashing head-first to the floor.
The next time I opened my eyes I found a familiar face staring at me a faint smile crossing Brad's lips once he saw me blinking up at the ceiling light. "Bridget, don't scare me like that." Brad whispered, running a hand through his hair as I stare back at him. "You fainted in the mess hall and you wouldn't respond to my voice." He whispered, gently pushing at my shoulders when I started to rise. "Not a good idea."
"Can't seem to get my thoughts together." I muttered, resting my head on a very comfortable pillow. "How long ago did I pass out?"
"More than two hours but I was more focused on you and not how long you were unconscious. I should have known you weren't feeling like yourself when you needed to be carried out of the helicopter." Brad sighed, leaning in close and I sighed as he pressed a light kiss to the middle of my forehead. "Now you need to sleep. I'll be right here if you need anything."
"You...don't need to hang here all day. I'll...be fine by myself." I yawned and he snorted, running his fingers across my forehead. "Brad..I'm not that sleepy but if you keep doing that..."
I couldn't remember falling asleep but as I opened my eyes I found that Brad wasn't at my side. This time I managed to sit though it took most of my limited strength leaving me gasping, a hand pressed to my chest as my eyes wandered the room. I couldn't see Brad anywhere in the room but I did notice a sleeping bag on the floor and that brought a weak smile to my lips.
Still feeling weak I started to lean back when I heard the door slowly open and I blinked, watching it as someone poked their head into the room. As soon as I saw who it was my smile grew and Brad grinned back, pushing the door fully open with his leg. For a moment I found myself wondering why he didn't use his hand instead when I finally noticed that his hands were full and I brightened, feeling better than I had in days as he stepped into the room pushing the door closed behind him with his backside.
"Thought you could use a drink and something to eat." Brad suggested, crossing the room and I nodded as he headed my way. Once he sat beside me on the bed he handed me a soda can and something wrapped in plastic. "It's a sandwich in case you're curious." He added, laughing softly when I struggled to open the packaging.
"Fine so I can't do the simplest things." I complained, holding the packet towards my boyfriend who just fixed me with a grin. Setting down his own packet he unwrapped mine, handing it to me before he carefully unwrapped his sandwich. "Thanks for your help, Brad." I said as I peered at my cheese and tomato sandwich.
"No problem, Bridget. How are you feeling?" Brad asked, staring at me as I took a tiny bite. Chewing it I swallowed before I sighed. "That bad?"
"Not really just...I woke up and you were gone." I replied in a small voice, cracking open the can without too much trouble. "When you're not there I really miss you. That's why I couldn't let you go to Willamette without me."
"Bridget, I only left for a few minutes when I thought you were sleeping. You need to keep your strength up." Brad pointed out and I nodded, swallowing the lump I could feel in my throat before I took another larger bite of my sandwich.
"Thanks, Brad. Sorry I'm a little clingy right now." I told him once I finished my lunch, fiddling with the wrapping and he set his own half-finished sandwich down. Leaning over he brushed a kiss against my forehead and I smiled, moving closer so I could rest my forehead against his. "You don't seem to mind though do you?"
"Of course not, Bridget." Brad answered, draping an arm around me before he pulled me into a hug. "I'm glad to be able to hug you."
"Even if I'm still not strong enough to do what I promised?" I replied and he raised an eyebrow until it clicked and he snorted. "Would you like to spend a day in bed with me, sleeping and whatever else?"
"Of course I would, Bridget." Brad answered, kissing my forehead when my cheeks redened. "You still should take a few days to recover. I don't want to push you into anything until I'm positive you've fully recovered." He added and I managed a smile, resting my head on his shoulder.
"Thanks, Brad. Hope I feel better soon." I replied and when Brad heard a yawn he cracked a smile, helping me lie back on the bed. "Getting kind of sleepy again."
"You should get some rest, Bridget. If you wake up later and find me gone I will be back." Brad whispered, stroking my forehead as I lay on my back. "I would never leave you, Bridget. I promise you." He told me and I smiled at him my eyes starting to close as he stared down at me. I remember the brush of his lips on my forehead and then I couldn't stay awake everything growing dark.
"How is Bridget?" Emily asked as Brad carefully shut the bedroom door and he gave her a smile, walking towards the common room that served as their kitchen and living quarters. "That bad huh?" She joked and he grinned back at her.
"She's a little woozy from her head injury plus the cut on her hand." Brad answered as he sat on the well-worn couch. "Never thought she would get so many injuries in a few days."
"Bridget's a trouble magnet isn't she?" Emily commented and Brad sighed to himself, leaning back. "But she'll be alright after a few days I'm sure. That cut on her hand's healing."
"Thank goodness for that. Ever since Los Perdidos..." Brad trailed off with a grimace and Emily nodded, patting his shoulder as he crossed his arms. The yawn that escaped his mouth startled him and Emily grinned as his cheeks reddened.
"I don't think Bridget's the only one who needs a nap. When was the last time you sleep since we bot back?" Emily asked and when Brad shrugged she sighed. "Why don't you get a few hours sleep, Brad? When Bridget wakes up, or if anyway, I'll let her know where you are." She told him noting that Brad had already closed his eyes.
"Mmm...take your time." He mumbled as he made himself comfortable, leaning against one of the armrests and Emily smiled as he yawned a little quieter this time. Waiting a full minute Emily gently prodded his arm and when Brad didn't react she carefully climbed from the couch.
