Dragon Ball Z: Alternate Love

Chapter 24: Our Heroes Arrive!

The Ginyu Force were currently deciding on who would go on ahead and attack next, while our heroes all stood there, taking a moment to decide on what to do next.

Krillin whispered to Vegeta, "so, you said that Guldo guy was weak. What about these guys?"

Vegeta, "Recoome is the most physically strong. Burtur is the fastest, aside from Guldo's time-freeze move. Bruce is the most agile, and Ginyu always has a trick or two up his sleeve."

Krillin, "so, we're in deep shit, huh?"

Vegeta, "yeah. And if we don't end this soon, Frieza will have made his wish!"

Chi Chi, "oh, I don't think we'll have to worry about that right now."

Vegeta, "why is that?"

Krillin, "one, when the Dragon Balls are activated, the sky gets all dark."

Gohan, "that would be very noticeable on a planet with three suns."

Chi Chi, "and, they have NO idea how to activate the Dragon Balls!"

Vegeta, "so, then, we still have time!"

Krillin, "yep! And, if we can hold out until Goku and Raditz get here, we'll still have the advantage!"

Vegeta, "for once, I'm excited for when Raditz and Kakkorot will show up…."

….

The ship was getting real close to Namek, and Goku and Raditz had managed to train and get used to ×100 gravity. Goku was practically dancing as Raditz took a second to just relax before they got to Namek. Sing she was sure, they would be in for one Hell of a fight.

….

Meanwhile

Ginyu had arrived with all seven Dragon Balls. Frieza was ecstatic as he marveled at the wish granting orbs.

Frieza, "well done Captain Ginyu. Now, my wish for eternal life will be achieved!"

Ginyu, "I am pleased about this Lord Frieza. Now, as tradition, I shall now do the dance of joy!"

As Ginyu tried to start dancing, Frieza said, "um, no thank you. You can stop."

Ginyu, "as you wish Lord Frieza."

Frieza then stood before the Dragon Balls, and yelled, "Dragon Balls! I summon your power to grant me my wish. I demand that you grant me the gift of eternal life!"

As Frieza and Ginyu both raised their arms into the air, expecting something to happen….

…. Nothing did.

Ginyu, "uh, do you feel any different?"

Frieza, "no, I don't think so."

Ginyu, "uh, maybe you did it wrong? Like, there's a specific phrase you have to say?"

Frieza, "wait…. Now I remember. One do the Namekians I killed said said something about this."

"Alright, here it is. But I don't expect you'll get very far with it.'

Frieza, "the Namekians know what to say to activate these damn things."

Ginyu, "are there any left on this planet?"

Frieza, "hold on."

Frieza started messing with his scouter, and picked up several power levels away from where the Ginyu's were.

Frieza, "I think I know where they are. You guard the Dragon Balls, and you'll be rewarded handsomely Captain."

Ginyu, "yessir!"

And so, Frieza climbed into his pod and flew off towards his next target.

….

And as this occurred, Guru could sense the approaching tyrant.

Nail could sense his master's unease.

Nail, "what is it Lord Guru?"

Lord Guru, "the Earthlings will be in danger. And the one known as Frieza is heading our way."

Bulma, "what should we do?!"

Lord Guru, "all of you must reunite with your allies. But first, Dende?"

Dende, "yes Lord Guru?"

Dende, "come here. Before you leave with the others, I can unlock your potential."

Dende, "y-yes Lord Guru!"

Dende was soon enveloped in white hot energy as Guru unlocked the young Namekian's power.

As it ended, Guru said, "now all of you, go to your friends!"

Nail, "I'm staying behind to protect you Lord Guru."

Lord Guru, "very well Nail."

Chi Cha, "thank you for everything Mr. Guru."

Lord Guru, "you're welcome child. Now, go help your friends."

The small group all gave a nod as they jumped own the platform, yelling, "Piccolo", all together.

They all raced away through the air, eager to get back to the others.

….

And during all of this, the fight with Recoome had begun. It was like a damn WWE wrestling match. Only, y'know, real blood and such, so it was more like UFC.

Vegeta was on the ropes as soon as the fight had begun.

And it had begun with Recoome announcing himself like a wrestler.

"You better just lay down and die Vegeta! Because the name is Recoome! And it rhymes, with doom! And yoooouu're gonna be hurting! The Mighty Recoome is gonna give you the smackdown of a lifetime!"

Vegeta, "... wrestling's fake."

And that was what officially kicked off the fight. It had been going on for only a few minutes now, and Vegeta was already bruised all over as Recoome did indeed bring the smackdown.

With Burtur and Jeice commentating, much to the confusion of Krillin, Chi Chi and Gohan.

(Burtur, and Jeice's lines are in these forms.)

"And thiss iss a battle for the agess, ain't it Jeiccce?"

"That is it Burtur ole buddy. Recoome is giving Vegeta one Hell of a beating. The mountain of a man is currently punching Vegeta into the ground!"

"And ass thiss happenss, the midget, woman and kid are trying to find an opening, but with no luck, huh?"

"None whatsoever. Oh, wait! The kids coming in for an attack!

Bam!

"And he jusst got kicked acrosss the field!"

"But wait, the midget just tried blasting Recoome! All that happened was his hair getting singed, and his armor has fallen off!"

"Don't forget hiss teeth getting a little messsed up!"

"Let's hope he remembers to buy us those hot chocolate Sunday's for letting him best the living dookie snot outta the other people."

"And he jusst belted the midget. He'ss on the ground. Alive, but he ain't moving!"

"That's gonna hurt in the morning!"

"Oh, here'ss ssomething neat! The woman iss trying ssome form of attack that makess her look like a raging bull!"

"It looks like it's winded Recoome a bit. He's staggering…. And he's just lunged at the woman."

"And he jusst punched her."

"Oh, he punched her again!"

"And again."

"And now a kick! She's landed right by the kid!"

"And now the kid iss back up! He'ss trying to sstagger towardss Recoome!"

Crash!

"Oh! And he just kicked the kid! Right in the neck! I think he might've broken his neck! I think he's still alive, but he ain't getting up right now!"

"And he'ss going back to Vegeta!"

….

Right as this occured, a large circle shaped ship landed in Namek!

Out of the ship came Goku and Raditz, much stronger than they were before. They felt as light as a feather from training up to ×100 gravity!

And as they looked around, they felt the battle going on.

Goku, "you feel that Raditz?"

Raditz, "yeah. I know that power level. Recoome. And he's attacking the other's."

Goku, "c'mon, we gotta hurry!"

And the two sped off, almost at the speed of light!

….

As this occurred, Frieza was flying towards his destination, unaware of the small group that had sped right past him as he got closer to Lord Guru's home.

….

Recoome, "you and your pals have lost! Now, the last thing you're gonna see, is the mighty Recoome's attack! Bye! Real nice knowing you Vegeta!"

As Vegeta clutched his broken arm, bracing for impact, everything seemed to halt, as two power levels joined the fray!

Everyone turned their heads, and standing there were Goku and Raditz.

Chi Chi, "Goku! Raditz!"

Krillin, "they've made it!"

Goku and Raditz walked forward, seeing Gohan barely conscious.

Recoome tried running at them, but only seemed to hit dead air as the brothers moved past him faster than the eye could blink. Goku carefully picked Gohan up as Raditz pulled out the bag of sensu beans. Luckily, they had four of the beans left for their friends.

Goku, "hey buddy. Dad and uncle Raditz are here. We got a sensu bean for you."

Raditz helped Goku feed the bean to Gohan, as well as helping him chew and swallow.

Gohan slowly regained his senses, seeing his dad holding him.

Gohan, "daddy? Is that you?"

Goku, "yeah, it's me Gohan. Raditz, give sensu beans to Krillin, Chi Chi, and Vegeta."

Raditz, "alright. But I won't be happy about that last one."

As Raditz went around, giving everyone a sensu bean, Goku set his son down, and turned to Recoome.

Recoome, "who the Hell are you?"

Goku, "my name is Goku, and these are my friends."

Recoome, "heh, well then, I'd hate to see how weak you are, compared to all of them!"

Goku, "wanna test that?"

Recoome, "oh, you do NOT wanna mess with the mighty Recoome. Because it rhymes, with doom! And yooouuou're gonna be hurtin'! When you face my wra-"

Goku had just punched Recoome in the gut, causing him to stop. Jeice and Burtur looked on in absolute terror!"

Goku chuckled a bit, "bad move. Hehehehe."

Recoome, "n-not funny!"

And then Recoome collapsed to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Krillin, Chi Chi, Gohan and Vegeta all stood there, with very confused faces. ESPECIALLY Vegeta.

Krillin, "how the Hell did Goku knock him down like that?!"

Raditz, "well, we did train in one hundred times gravity."

Vegeta, "... FUUUUUUU-"

Krillin, "wow. You guys just be a lot stronger now, huh?"

Raditz, "yep. My brother and I are now around the same power level."

Vegeta, "-UUUUUUUU-"

Chi Chi, "dang. I don't wanna tangle with you guys any time soon."

Gohan, "yeah, no kidding!"

Vegeta, "-UUUUUK!"

As this occurred, Jeice and Burtur were scared stiff as Goku glared at them.

Goku, "I'm gonna give you both one last chance. Take your friend and get out of here, before I have to fight ya."

Jeice, "you cheeky bastard! We ain't going down without a fight!"

Burtur, "yeah! No one can sstop us!"

And with that, Burtur and Jeice flew forward, fists balled up and pulled back, ready to strike. The fight immediately got intense as Goku began dueling the two fighters. It was clear that Goku wasn't even breaking a sweat as he dodged and blocked every strike aimed at him. He was quicker than either of them, and Kami only knows what would've happened if Raditz had joined in. The fight would've been over in seconds!

The fight went on for quite a while, with Jeice and Burtur in the ropes nearly the whole time. They tried so many different attacks, but none caused Goku any damage. From the Crushed Bomb, to what could only be described as a seizure attack, nothing affected Goku. And the final linch pin? After Burtur and Jeice had a small heart to heart, Goku attacked and knocked out the large blue men with a devastating gut punch, making Jeice fly away with his hair tucked between his legs!

As Goku watched him retreat, he start

ed at the bodies of Burtur and Recoome, "hey wait! He's just gonna leave his friends behind?"

Raditz, "that's the kind of cowards that make up the Ginyu Force. They used to be my superiors, now they're like mud under my feet."

Goku, "well, at least we can leave these guys to fight another day."

But before anyone could blink, Vegeta suddenly used his boosted power to blast Recoome and Burtur's unconscious forms to dust!"

Goku, "VEGETA! WHAT THE HELL?!"

Vegeta, "oh please, not everyone leaves their enemies alive Kakkorot. Only idiots would let the Ginyu Force live."

Before Goku could respond, everyone heard someone from above yell, "yo!"

Everyone looked up, and saw Bulma, Yamcha, Chi Cha and Dende floating down to them!

Gohan, "mom!"

Goku, "Bulma!"

Bulma, "Goku! Gohan!"

Chi Chi, "Yamcha! Chi Cha!"

Yamcha, "Chi Chi!"

Chi Cha, "mom!"

Krillin, "donkey!"

Everyone looked at Krillin in confusion.

Krillin, "sorry, that joke was practically gift wrapped for me."

Everyone shrugged it off as the group reunited. Goku, Bulma and Gohan all entered a group hug, as did Chi Chi and her family. Even Chi Cha gave Raditz a hug, much to a few of the other's surprise.

After pleasantries were all taken care of, the group started flying towards where Frieza's ship was, eager to get to the Dragon Balls.

….

Ginyu took the news well.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!"

Jeice, "n-now calm down Captain-"

Ginyu, "are you telling me that Burtur, Guldo, and Recoome ALL got taken out by some lower class fighters?!"

Jeice, "w-well, Vegeta killed Guldo, Recoome had everyone on the ropes, but then he and Burtur got taken down by that new guy. Raditz and this guy were the same power level as you. If the one guy were stronger, he might be able to tangle with Lord Frieza!"

Ginyu, "ugh, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. C'mon Jeice, it's time to teach them a lesson."

But just as Ginyu and Jeice were about to fly off, they suddenly saw the now larger group of heroes heading towards them.

Ginyu, "well, that changes things a tad."

And so, all of the fighters landed, and stood glaring at Ginyu and Jeice.

Ginyu, "well, well, well. I'm guessing you're Kakkorot?"

Raditz, "his name is Goku."

Goku, "heh, never thought I'd hear you call me that Raditz."

Raditz, "it took awhile, but I think I'm starting to get used to it."

Ginyu, "enough of this. Shall we start fighting?"

Goku, "not yet. Vegeta?"

Vegeta, "yeah?"

Goku, "take everyone into the ship. Raditz and I will take these guys on."

Vegeta, "fine. But one of you better incinerate Jeice for me."

Goku, "no promises."

Raditz, "from him."

And so, everyone ran into the ship as the fight began….

….

Krillin and everyone were amazed by how high tech the ship was as they explored it. Vegeta had killed all of the other foot soldiers earlier, so it was safe for them to walk around. They tried now to let the sounds of battle from outside get to them. Or when they heard Ginyu yelling something.

Vegeta had taken Gohan, Krillin, Chi Chi, Chi Cha and Yamcha to the training room, as Dende and Bulma took the Dragon Balls to the room Frieza stayed in. Vegeta had found it a good idea to give everyone Saiyan armor that would protect better than their gi. Krillin, Chi Chi and Yamcha got short sleeved armor, Yamcha's had no shoulder pads, while Chi Cha and Gohan received armor with longer sleeves. Vegeta had put on darker blue armor; but with no shoulder pads.

Krillin, "these things fit like gloves. No wonder you wear this stuff."

Chi Cha, "yeah, I remember how it expanded, even when you transformed into a giant monkey!"

Vegeta, "they took into account how these outfits would need to fit everyone."

Chi Chi, "yeah, if only we didn't have these damn shoulder pads on them. You and Yamcha got lucky."

The crew had put their normal clothes into a suitcase that turned into a smaller capsule. Chi Chi put it into her pocket for safe keeping.

Later, Raditz had entered the ship, carrying a bruised up Goku.

Bulma was the first to find them, and follow them into the medical wing with everyone.

Bulma, "what happened?!"

Raditz, "Ginyu switched bodies with Ka, ugh, Gokun and got the snot kicked out of him before I was able to get them switched back. Ginyu is now stuck in the body of a frog, and I burned Jeice to a crisp."

Vegeta, "I'll only say this once to you Raditz, but thank you."

Raditz carefully got Goku situated into a medical pod.

Raditz, "it'll take awhile for my brother to heal. For now, we should get ready to use the Dragon Balls. Everyone relax for a minute before we get to it."

Krillin, "man! I can't believe we're finally gonna do this!"

As everyone went to grab the Dragon Balls, Raditz stopped Vegeta from leaving. As the Prince looked at him, Raditz asked, "is it true?"

Vegeta, "is what?"

Raditz, "Ginyu blurted it out as a last minute attempt for me to spare him. Is she here Vegeta?!"

Vegeta, "... yes. Your mother is being held in a stasis pod in the storage room."

Raditz seemed to stumble as he let Vegeta go past.

Raditz was zoned out as he made his way through the ship, and walked into the room.

And he saw her.

Gine.

She had not aged a day since what happened to Planet Vegeta.

Raditz carefully walked over to the pod, and typed in the commands to release her. The pod unsealed, the cold air being released as Raditz heard her moan as she woke up. She started to fall, but Raditz caught her. As he held her in his lap, her eyes slowly started to open.

She asked, "w-where am I?"

Raditz, "relax. You're safe for now. I'm here."

Gine, "w-where is here?"

Raditz, "Frieza's ship."

Fine stared at Raditz, looking confused, "w-who are you?"

Raditz pleaded, "you know my face. You brought me into this world. "

Gine looked confused for a few moments before realization kicked in.

Gine, "R-Raditz?"

Raditz, "yes. Y-yes, it's me mom."

Gine, "m-my baby boy."

She started to choke up as she lunged forward and clung to her son. Raditz held her tightly as tears poured out of his eyes. The two of them held on to one another, sobbing. Son and mother had finally been reunited.

Gine, "I thought I would never see you again!"

Raditz, "me too. After all of these years…. I thought you were dead, like dad?"

Gine, "I left Planet Vegeta before it was destroyed. How long did Frieza keep me in that ice box?"

Raditz held her at arms length, "more than twenty years. Me and Kakkorot are in our thirties."

Gine, "K-Kakkorot?! Your brother? My son?"

Raditz, "yes. He survived. For years, he's been a hero on Planet Earth. He goes by the name, Goku, now."

Gine, "I…. I want to see him."

Raditz, "I'll take you to him. After that, we've gotta move onto important matters."

Gine, "r-right."

Raditz helped Gine up, and helped her get used to walking again as they made their way to the medical bay. As they entered the room, Gine's breath caught in her throat at the sight of her younger son in the medical pod.

Gine, "is that?!

Raditz simply nodded as Gine put her hand on the pod. Goku seemed to know someone was there, and slowly lifted his arm. His palm sat on the glass, right where Gine's hand was.

Gine, "both of my son's. I never thought I'd see you both again. Let alone as adults."

Raditz, "I survived because of you mother. Your teachings."

Gine, "... He looks just like your father. All he would need are some battle scars, and it would be like he was still in front of me."

Raditz, "... father died with honor. Defending our home from Frieza and his whelps."

Gine, "I still can't believe it. That bastard had me frozen for around twenty years."

Raditz, "a lot has happened mother. My brother has a family. A mate, and a son."

Gine, "I-I'm a grandma?"

Raditz, "yes. I met someone on Earth, but they stayed behind."

Gine turned to Raditz, "where are Kakkorot, er, Goku's family?"

Raditz, "right outside. I'll take you to them."

Rsditz held his mother's hand as they made their way through the ship, noticing a sleeping Vegeta in the changing room.

Raditz exited the ship, and everyone was there, gathering the balls up, and looking at the exiting duo in confusion.

Krillin, "uh, Raditz? Who's this woman?"

Raditz, "this, my friends, is my mother Gine."

Everyone held a collective gasp as Gine looked at all of them.

Chi Cha, "I thought she passed away a long time ago?"

Raditz, "she's been in suspended animation for years now. Mother, these are my friends. The bald man is Krillin, the man with long hair is Yamcha. There with him are his wife Chi Chi, and daughter, Chi Cha. The small green one is Dende, and the woman in blue hair is Bulma, Kak- Goku's mate."

Bulma, "wife!"

Raditz, "right. And next to her is Gohan. Their son, my nephew, and your grandson."

Bulma and Gohan stepped forward. Bulma had her helmet retracted, to show off her face.

Bulma, "um…. Hi. I'm Bulma. I-I guess I'm your daughter-in-law?"

Gine, "it's great to meet you."

Gohan, "and, uh, I'm Gohan. I guess you're my grandma?"

Gine nearly burst into tears as she bent down on one knee to look at Gohan.

Gine, "it's amazing to meet you Gohan. I hope to spend more time with you and your father once this is all over."

Gohan, "... I would like that too."

Raditz, "alright, with introductions out of the way, let's get started on wishing!"

I hope you guys liked the idea of Burtur and Jeice commentating the fight like in DBZA. A lot of what it did, I thought worked a little better than the real show at times, and this gag was something I wanted to include.

I hope you guys didn't mind me keeping the whole body-swapping stuff off screen. Like, everyone heads inside as Raditz and Goku deal with Ginyu, and a few minutes later, they head into Frieza's ship, with Goku in bad shape, and Raditz is super casual about it. I don't hate the whole body-swap thing, but honestly, I just didn't feel like including it in such detail for this story.
