I don't own any characters in the Percy Jackson universe which is rightfully owned by Rick Riodan. However, the Greek gods and/or other mythological figures are used in my imagination and well you can't claim copyright on history.
Chapter 28
PERCY
Hellhounds were the first monsters out and they immediately jumped over the defensive front, snarling and knocking over everything in sight. A couple of them set off the traps that were hidden in the ground. Nymphs and satyrs were using nature magic to slow them down as the demigods rushed around slicing everything they saw. Then the empousi and dracaena came soon followed by various other monsters. Though they weren't particularly strong or fast, the sheer number of troops were starting to overwhelm us. I saw a camper fall to my left. Nico looks over to me, holding his Stygian iron sword which glowed purple for some reason. He stabs a monster and the sword seemed to devour the monster's essence. The sword glows more vibrant and he holds up his sword. Skeletons start climbing up from the ground. I follow his example and summon my own. The confusion lasts for a couple of seconds as the monsters kept flowing out of the entrance like water. When nearly all the skeletons were beaten, a large woof could be heard. Suddenly Mrs. O'Leary appears from the shadows and throws monsters around like rag dolls, biting and clawing the smaller hellhounds. Daedalus was riding on her back, jumps off, and starts cutting down the monsters around him. I make a path towards him and greet him.
"You came. I thought your office blew up?" I asked.
"Mrs. O'Leary is a creature of the underworld. She can shadow travel just like you. When you have a pet hellhound all you need to do is call and they will come to you." He answers.
"Well, thanks for coming. You just might have turned the tide."
Just as those words left my mouth, a horrifying monster comes flying out. Kampe has returned with two blades glowing green. She stabs a demigod and he screams in pain. The wound has a green.
"It's poison! Get back! Charlie!"
Charles Beckendorf, the son of Hephestus, calls out orders, and immediately stones start flying at Kampe. She took off the ground to avoid the boulders flung at her, but one catches her square in the chest and she falls onto the ground. I reluctantly walk over to check if she was really out. I raised my sword over my head to hopefully land the killing blow when suddenly the wolf's head on her waist snarls and bites my left arm. And of course, another wave of monsters come spilling out of the maze.
"PERCY, GET DOWN! HUNTERS FIRE!" A familiar voice shouts.
I immediately hit the floor and Kampe turns into a silver porcupine. Kampe explodes into dust and covers me. Annabeth runs over to me.
"Come on we need to get back." She helps me up and we back up.
She feeds me a square of ambrosia and I feel better, but the stinging sensation in the wound hadn't stopped. I slowly get up, trying my best to ignore the pain, and get back into battle. Eventually, even the hunters run out of arrows and we losing the battle once again. Too many of the people I once knew, trained with, ate with, and sang songs with were lying on the floor injured or dying. Suddenly, out of Grover's mouth, a horrible ear curling sound escapes. The monsters frantically escape back into the maze. The sound stops but it still leaves a spine-tingling sensation.
"That was Panic, the strongest ability of the god Pan. it sends any enemy fleeing in pure fear." Daedalus says in pure shock.
Grover collapses, panting and tired. I quickly rush to his side wincing as I'm reminded of my arm. He groans and sees me.
"Did we win?" He asks weakly.
"Yeah, you were amazing. You made them run for mommy."
Grover smiles and closed his eyes. I was scared for a second but I heard him snoring.
"Daedalus, thank you as well."
"No, thank you. You changed my old stubborn heart. I shouldn't have been alive for so long, so I have decided to meet my son and nephew. I hope Perdix will forgive an old fool. Nico, would you like to do the honors? Perhaps you can get the information you needed."
"No, holding grudges against family is my fatal flaw. The past is best left in the past."
"Growing wise, Nico. It's a shame. I hoped we can learn more about each other."
He pops open something on his forearm and presses it.
"Well, I have 5 minutes till this artificial body disintegrates. Listen well. This is merely the calm before the storm. The real battle will be happening next year. Prepare well and fight well. Percy Jackson, you are truly an interesting figure. Also please take care of my pet. She's grown fond of you. And keep your friends safe. Annabeth, I have a little gift for you."
He reaches into a bag on Mrs. O'Leary and pulls out the computer. Annabeth's eyes grow wide.
"You can't give that to me, it's much too priceless. All your work and ideas are on it." She starts.
"It's not much use if I'm dead. Besides I heard the underworld doesn't have the best connection. Take it and surpass me, my young architect. And do not let your hubris overcome you as it did to me."
Daedalus finally fades and what's left of his mechanical body turns to scraps. The earth rumbles as the Labyrinth collapses. Mrs. O'Leary whimpers and I go over to her, reassuring her. Suddenly, my vision goes dark and I fall over. The last thing I hear is Annabeth screaming my name.
ARTEMIS
"Move, I can heal him. Chiron, get some nectar and herbs."
Chiron nods and clops off to the Big House. He brings the required supplies over and I prepare an antidote. I fed it to Percy and he sighs in his sleep.
"Somebody take him to a room and let him rest," I said.
"I'll take him." Replies the girl named Annabeth.
I nod and she walks off. I remembered she was the friend of Percy, who had held up the sky.
"Hunters, treat the wounded, and count the casualties."
It was a long and tedious work. There were too many injuries and too many dead but eventually we finish up. I walked into the Big House and search around to see where Percy was. I follow the sounds of voices talking.
"Percy, you're fine now?"
"Yeah, what happened? I shit a little shitty."
"Lady Artemis healed you. And you still drool when you sleep."
"Do I? Sorry."
"Don't be sorry, it's cute. I'm glad your okay now."
I opened the door and saw Annabeth embracing Percy. Percy spots me and whispers something. Annabeth turns around with a blush on her cheeks and faces me.
"Lady Artemis, thank you for saving Percy."
"It's alright. Do you mind excusing us for a second."
She nods and quickly leaves. I close the door and Percy stares at me.
"Why are you always almost dying for. Do you know how much it worries me?"
"Aw, Arty worries for me. That makes my day." He replies.
"Shut up, don't you ever take anything seriously?" I asked.
"Of course, I take you seriously."
I blush at his words and I hold open my arms. He embraces me and I stand in his warmth. I slowly start to relax and my mind feels more at ease.
"I have to tell you something. But, don't get mad."
"When you say that you tend to say something that will get me mad. Tell me."
"I think Annabeth may have a little growing crush on me…." He says.
I grit my teeth and look at his face. He pales.
"Why are you always fooling around? Do you want me to kill you?"
He suddenly hugs me tightly.
"I thought you wouldn't get mad. Besides, I didn't do anything. It was her, I promise. If you don't believe I'll allow you to look inside of my head."
"Then why. Every girl you seem to come across either has or had feelings for you. Stupid playboy."
"Okay, that is so unfair. Go ask Aphrodite. She was always behind the scenes."
"I'll be back. Don't go anywhere."
I flashed to Aphrodite's door.
"Open the fucking door or I'll smash it open," I growl.
"Huh, only Artemis has that tone. Here to talk about Percy?" She says while opening the door allowing me in.
I take a seat across from here, my hands on my bow just in case she irritated me enough for me to use it.
"How did you know I came to talk about Percy?"
"Well first off you never called him Percy before. Second, I'm the goddess of love, do you really think I didn't see that little hugfest?"
I blushed. But that still didn't explain anything.
"Why are you always pitting Percy with other girls?"
"I'm just trying to help out. Besides, it's in his fate to have an interesting love life."
"What's Annabeth have to do with it. Release your grip on her, you love witch!"
She pouts at my comment.
"It's not nice to make fun of people. Besides, I didn't touch her. Her love for him was all-natural, just like you. Would you like further explanation?"
"Yes."
"All I can tell you is that he's destined to have three. A trifecta if you will. I suggest you don't split them up. All I can confirm is that you and Annabeth are definitely part of it."
3? That was too many. I wasn't used to sharing. You can blame Apollo for that. I shared 7 months, 7 weeks, and 7 days in the womb with him and he was absolutely obnoxious.
"Are you sure?" I asked reluctantly.
"Very."
"So who's the third?"
"I don't know. But eventually, she will show up. It could be anyone. Me hopefully."
"No. Thousand times no. I'm willing to share but not with you."
"Whatever. Now go I need a nap, my beauty is hard to maintain."
She disappears in a puff of smoke and I try and let what she just told me to sink in. I flash back to Percy. He was lying in the bed waiting for me.
"Oh, you're back. Why the long face?"
"I'm willing to share," I said quietly.
"What?" He replies stupidly.
"Don't make me repeat myself. Apparently it's in your fate to be a fuckboy. However, I have terms. You will not approach Annabeth in any way. Only she can confess to you."
He gets up and feels my head.
"Are you okay?"
I swat his hand and look away, blushing.
"I agree to your terms."
He gives me a small kiss and I can't help but allow him.
"Uh, guys there's a meeting and you guys have been requested to come," Annabeth calls out.
"We'll be coming soon."
End of chapter 28. Thanks for reading and as always please review. To the guy who reviewed as Bruh (or girl who knows) we throwing hands (if you're a guy) because Calypso is not the love interest. Peace!
