Chapter 25
She felt Lena nod slowly, so the blonde pulled back a little and began to stand, supporting the weaker woman as they both rose unsteadily to their feet, Lena's body trembled with the effort, Kara wrapped her strong arm around her waist and took some of her weight
Lena leaned into her, her tired green eyes finding Kara's blue, her eyes taking in every detail of the blonde's face, her green eyes saddening when her gaze fell upon Kara's new scars,
She reached out with a delicate hand and traced the largest of them, the one that ran down from the blonde's hairline, splitting over her temple and down towards her lip
Lena blinked several times, trying to hold back her tears, Kara caught her hand and leaned into it, inhaling deeply and closing her eyes for a moment before looking back down at Lena, a smile pulling at her lips, she could feel her heart pounding as the sunrise broke the horizon and made Lena's emerald eyes sparkle, but also her features became clearer in the morning light, the blonde saw the bruises and cut that peppered Lena's pale skin
He cheeks were slightly sunken and with her arm wrapped around Lena's waist she could feel her ribs underneath the thin fabric
Kara stopped and turned to face Lena, the one she loved, she took her hands in her own and kissed them softly
"I am so sorry I weren't here sooner" she kissed Lena's hands again "I ain't gonna leave you again" she vowed, she looked up into Lena's eyes to see the raven haired woman was smiling
"You're really here" she whispered
"I am"
Lena lunged forwards, wrapping her slim arms around Kara's neck and connecting their lips, Kara wrapped her own arms around Lena's waist as she deepened the kiss, lifting the Luthor onto her tiptoes, soon she felt a hand slide up the back of her neck and finding their way into her blonde hair, Kara couldn't help but smile, Lena was in her arms once more
"KARA!"
The two women whirled around, Kara instantly taking up a defensive position in front of Lena, between her and the man that called her name
Her posture relaxed a little when she recognised the figure
"Father" she noticed blood on his face "You okay?" she went to take a step forward but the dark look in her father's eyes had her stopping
"I told you to stay put at home" he growled, his eyes flickering between the two women "I didn't want ya to be a part of this" he took a step forward
"Father, it's over" Kara backed up to Lena, taking her hand "It's done"
Jeremiah's brows knitted together as he looked at Lena
"She ain't her family" Kara continued, she gestured to Lena's appearance "This is what her family did to her, and I ain't gonna let anything else happen to her"
"Kara" Jeremiah warned
"No" Kara's voice was steely "If you or anyone else come near her, I will do everything in my power to stop you, no matter who you are"
Her father remained silent
"The Luthor's are gone, this entire thing is over and if Lena is not welcome in this town then me and her will go and you will never have to see us again" the blonde stood tall "That is up to you father"
Jeremiah looked down at his gun, that he had been holding
"Guess you ain't my little girl anymore" he grumbled, eyes still fixed on the revolver
Kara's heart beated unsteadily, uncertain of what her father was thinking
The tall man exhaled, his shoulders slumping, he moved his hand and holstered his gun
"And your mother will never forgive me if you ran off again"
He looked up to his daughter "You better take her back to the ranch and clean her up" he nodded to Lena
Kara's heart could burst with joy, she sprinted forwards and launched herself into her father's arms, he caught her and hugged her closely
"But don't think that I won't put you to work" he called out to Lena
Kara beamed widely "Love ya Father"
"You too kid" he mumbled back, he released her "Now get"
Kara made her way back to Lena, taking her hand once again and started off in the direction of the ranch, her home
