Dream Your Dream

Nightmare rolled over, mumbling something in his sleep.

His ears twitched at the sound of his door slowly opening, but he didn't immediately wake up.

"Nightmare...?"

He twitched at the sound of his name.

"Nightmare..."

His brain recognized the voice, slowly pulling him to consciousness.

Sitting up, he rubbed his eyes; blinking, he looked towards his door.

The sight that greeted him was the door pushed open a bit, and two red and black speckled eyes staring at him.

He blinked in confusion.

"Fredbear...?"

The little bear slowly stepped into the room; his body turned more visible with each step.

Nightmare climbed out of bed.

*Must have been my eyes messing with me...I doubt he can turn invisible...*

He walked over to his little brother, crouching to be level with him.

"What's wrong, bud? You should be in bed..."

The younger bear fiddled with his claws, looking away.

"I had a bad dream..."

Nightmare's gaze softened.

He gently pulled Fredbear into a hug.

"What happened in it?"

The little bear shuddered a bit at the memory.

"I was back in the scary hallway...it was really dark...a-and then you came out and said you d-didn't love me anymore, and that I sh-shouldn't be here, and then you went away and the scary bear and scary bunny c-came out and started hitting me again, a-and..."

Nightmare frowned, gently rubbing circles into Fredbear's back.

"Oh, Fredbear, I'd never say that...of course I love you...you belong here..."

He gently scooped him up.

"Here, why don't you sleep with me tonight? I'll scare away any more night terrors you might have."

Fredbear wiped his eyes and nodded.

After carrying him to the bed, the elder bear tucked Fredbear in and climbed in next to him.

The smaller bear was a bit fidgety, still being shaken up by his previous dream; after realizing this, Nightmare thought on how to relax him.

He soon had an idea.

"Hey buddy, why don't I sing to you?" He offered. "It might help you feel better."

Another fidget; he moved in closer to Nightmare.

"Okay..."

Nightmare thought for a moment.

*What did Bonnie say? Let the music...flow out of my soul? What the heck does that mean?*

He glanced at Fredbear again.

*I guess...just let it out? Worth a shot...*

After a moment of humming, he began to sing.

"Hush now, drift off to sleep,

Reality a memory...

Don't be scared of what you find...

Yeah it's all just in your mind…"

Fredbear's ears twitched at the soft tune.

"Monsters that live inside

Your head at night, they are alright...

'Cause they can never compare

To the ones that live outside..."

Fredbear snuggled in closer to Nightmare.

"So dream, dream,

Dream your dream,

'Cause when you're awake

The Nightmare awaits,

So dream, dream,

Dream your dream

'Cause when you're awake

The Nightmare will become the truth..."

Fredbear's eyes drifted shut.

"The ticking clock...

Breaks the spell with every beat...

Illusion or not...

You are safe for now...

So dream...

So dream your dream...

So dream your dream..."

""So dream, dream,

Dream your dream,

'Cause when you're awake

The Nightmare awaits,

So dream, dream,

Dream your dream

Cause when you're awake...

The Nightmare will become the truth..."

Nightmare glanced down at Fredbear.

Relief washed over the jet black bear at the sight of him comfortably snoozing, giving off light snores; luckily, he was undisturbed.

Smiling, Nightmare placed his head between the younger's ears, closing his own eyes and drifting off again.

A bit short, but needed nonetheless.

Okay, so I'm a bit concerned about how the fic's gonna play out; mainly the pacing of it all.

Over the five months that the original lasted, we racked up 76 chapters. Granted, I was writing quickly every single day, mainly when I got home from school, and posting right after.

I bring this up because of the different arcs in the fic; there's several, as most of you well know, that came in a specific order. There's certain one (where the story "ended" originally) that comes directly after the Christmas Special. I want to keep it that way, but in order for that to happen (along with everything else falling into place) I may have to speed the story along. I don't want to hurt it, but considering my pacing I don't think it will...

So, be prepared for more action soon.

See ya next Chappie!!
