May 11th dear diary we are feeling a ton better but we have no energy. We spent the hole day spread out in the family room watching movies. Grandma slept on her bed mom and I were stretched on the sofas while Elsie was stretched in the recliner and The little 2 were in there sleeping bags. We watched movies ate light food and just rested I am getting sleepy so talk to you tomorrow.
May 12th dear diary we all felt good enough to run errands with mom today. We started at Sam's club for snacks and essentials we each picked 2 I picked frosted animal cookies and peanut butter pretzels. Elsie grabbed sunflower kernels and a cookie variety pack the younger 2 picked 2 kinds of chips and 2 variety's of fruit snacks. We also need to refill our deep freeze so we got lots and lots of meat and ready foods. we also stocked up on a few other things we use a ton of. We then ran to the hairdresser as the younger 2 needed trims and I need my ends trimmed . We then ran to a few other places before we ran out of energy. When we got home we ate a very light dinner with Zack and his siblings who are staying with us so there auntie can go on a business trip. Signing off so I can relax I am still tired from being sick.
May 13th we spent the day working on a special quilt for grandmas bed as she is getting worse fast. And mom pulled me aside early this morning and let me know we probably don't have a lot of time left with her. So we are trying to spend what time she has left with her doing what she loves. We started with quilting then she helped make pocket sandwiches and a few other old recipes. For dessert she showed me a trick to making her chocolate rocky road cake. We all really really enjoyed it and we then watched old movies with her. We all enjoyed an old musical called the music man and one called by by birdie. We then watched Annie and Annie a royal adventure they were funny. When that was done mom brought fresh seafood in for dinner as that is grandmas favorite. She then Asked Elsie and I to go pick up chocolate triple cream shakes for a special treat.
May 14th dear diary we have made a tough decision to put grandma on hospice care. The little girls are quite confused. So mom asked Zack and I to try and explain whats going on while she tried to get a hold of other family members. Susie Sam and Jake and Kate also came to help since they have been through this before. Zack And I took Elsie to the garden to talk while Susie and Kate took Clara to the porch. Emily Jake and Sam were on the sun porch at the back of the house. Zack asked Elsie what she understood about whats going on she responded that she knew grandma was really sick but doesn't really understand why she got sick so fast so we explained the cancer was worse then even the doctor thought. When we met the others outside everyone at least had an idea of whats going on. Susie let me know Clara was worried it was our fault grandma was so sick she let her know its no ones fault its what god decided grandma can handle. Jake said Emily understood some of what was going on but was worried grandma was leaving since she was upset with us he told her no that it was her time so god wanted her home.
When everyone but Zack had left mom called me into the room and let me know several relatives were coming this way and we needed to find places for them to stay. Zack called auntie at her hotel she said that some of my family can use there guest rooms. We also talked to Alex and Ali's families who have offered us space in there guest rooms. We arranged for the younger2 to stay at Luke's as we don't want them around all of the sadness and confusion. Zack walked them plus Sarah and Ryan over there while I started laundry and stripped beds to be re maid for all the family. We did some shopping for quick foods and drinks to keep in the house. Mom left a few hours later to pick up 3 of my aunts 4 great aunts great uncle Joe and several other relatives. When they arrived we figured out where they can stay and waited for 3 more carloads of family. I am signing off I am emotionally and physically exhausted.
May 15th dear diary we all took time to sit with grandma today we sat in shifts of 3 or 4 at a time the younger 2 along with our cousins Beth who is Clara's age and Connie who is Emily's age came and visited for a few hours. When they left I took a walk with Zack Elsie and our cousins as we are all struggling with all of this and really don't like all the chaos. We went home to take our turns sitting our shifts and then went to bed for 6 hours before our next shift its getting late near the end of our turn so I am signing off till tomorrow.
May 18th dear diary sorry for not writing the last 2 days we are busy all the time taking care of grandma. We have been told she only has a couple days left so the little 2 came by yesterday to say there good byes that was hard to watch. Elsie and I have also said our good byes which was very very very hard. No one leaves the den for hardly anything I leave to take walks with Elsie and our Cousins Maddie who is my age and Caroline who is Elsie's age but we are only gone for a half hour at a time. Going to try and catch a few hours sleep talk to you later I am back diary and just 25 minutes ago we lost a very very special women she was surrounded by her entire family.
I need to go pick the younger 2 up and tell them I will write again in a little while. I am back again I spent the last 4 hours comforting the 3 younger girls we sat and just hugged and cried Emily asked if its ok to cry I told her yes it is. Our Cousins were sitting on my trundle bed doing the same things. Maddie was holding a sobbing Beth tight while I held Clara. Elsie and Caroline were hugging Emily and Connie. We went and got a little bit of food from the piles that people were dropping off and decided to eat outside. The gang and there Families came to pay a condolence call they all hugged us really hard and let us cry as much as we needed to. Well diary I will not be writing till next week so talk to you then
