Izuku was quite frankly getting tired of hospital's. Every single time he had come to one of these he's had to use his quirk to save someone and honestly he thanks whatever god made him keep minor regeneration, he almost gave it away. That quirk has already done so much for him, after tonight's events its skyrocketed to his second favourite quirk, if Izuku ever found a better version of the quirk he's still keeping the thing. It has too much sentimental value at this point. Regardless he sat out in the hallway waiting on the doctors to give Izuku the okay to enter into the room, he really wanted to check on Tenya and Momo after all. However when Izuku started to hear loud aggressive stomping he looked up to see the number 2 hero locking eyes with him.
Endeavour glared down at the child. "Boy we need to talk, follow me."
Izuku sighed before following the man, he really really wasn't in the mood for this. Had the number 2 figured out they lied about what happened to Stain? That shouldn't be possible so what else... oh ... duh. Izuku was led into an empty hospital room, Endeavour didn't speak until he had locked the door and looked about the room briefly.
"Your quirk boy, is like All for One's." The glare never left his face, if anything it intensified at the mention of the only villain to ever rate SSS threat level.
"Endeavour I have no id-" Izuku was cut off.
"Do not think I am a fool boy, I am the number 2 hero for a reason. I saw those engines on your legs while you chased the Nomu, I also saw them recede when you returned them to Ingenium's brother." The man intensified the flames that constantly surrounded his body, hoping to intimidate the child before him.
Of course the number 2 would know about All for One. Ah fuck it I don't care anymore. "You know what yeah that's my quirk, so what do you want Endeavour? Obviously the school knows about it already and I haven't broken any laws with it so I swear to god if you are here to give me another I'm watching you because you could turn out evil speech, I promise you it's getting old really fucking fast."
Taken aback by the boys lackadaisical mood despite his best efforts to intimidate him Endeavour spluttered a bit. "I um you see, yes?"
"Cool can I go now? I have way more important things to be worrying about and so should you. You're "Masterpiece" was injured was he not?" Izuku was silently chuckling, being able to trip up the number 2 was a nice confidence boost.
Endeavour recovered when he remembered this boy knew about his secrets. "Hmph, are all children like you brats these days."
Izuku had already started walking out the room when he heard the man speak. "Only when we need to be sir." He unlocked the door and walked out pausing briefly before he left. "I'm sure you know what'll happen if you talk about my quirk Endeavour-san." Izuku winked at the man before he left.
Free from the room the shock of everything that just happened finally set in, Izuku had just threatened and taunted Endeavour, fucking ENDEAVOUR. God he really had a deathwish didn't he, he was already in enough trouble as it is. He muttered under his breath. "Any second now All Might, his Mom, his homeroom teacher, or the police we're going to come barging in and start demanding answers."
Oh so that's how we're playing it universe, your out to get me I see. Speak of the devil and they shall appear I guess. Izuku saw both his Mom AND All Might ( in his true form) coming down the hallway towards him. Could Izuku really tell his mentor that he'd killed someone, I mean he tried to kill All for One so he should get it, right?
Seeing her son walking down the hall unharmed Inko cheered. "IZUUUUKKUUUUUUUU!" She ran towards her son before grabbing him and pulling him into the biggest hug she could, sobbing the whole time. "I've been so worried about you! Please tell me you're not hurt."
Faltering under the bearlike grip his mother possessed, Izuku struggled to breathe before managing to get out a strangled "Imfinemom."
Realizing she was strangling her son she relaxed her grip. "What about the others are they okay too?"
Thankful for his ability to breathe returning. "Yeah they're okay mom, everyone pulled through."
All Might coughed getting the attention of both of the Midoriya's. "Midoriya my boy that's great news, however I heard Young Iida was seriously injured."
"I took care of that myself before the ambulances arrived, although they did need to give him multiple blood transfusions to replace what he had lost. You know what doesn't bring that back as you know." Izuku explained to his mentor.
"Of course of course. Is Young Momo alright as well? I heard she was injured as well just not as seriously." Toshinori needed to know if his successor was okay, the guilt of not being there when she needed him twice now was gnawing at him severely.
"Yeah she's fine, while I won't say three throwing daggers to the arm was a minor injury but it wasn't anywhere near life threatening. She's getting checked up with Shouto at the moment. I was actually just heading on over there now if you two wanted to join me." Izuku broke from his mother's hug after she managed to calm down.
"I'm just glad everyone made it through this. You all were targeted by a serial killer, Izuku that's not normal for a 15 year old child." Inko started tearing up again.
Well technically Tenya targeted Stain not the other way around.
Izuku saw the expressions on both the adults faces turn to one of shock. "... I said that out loud didn't I?" Holy shit I need to get my muttering under control.
Both of the adults shouted in unison. "HE WHAT?!"
"Ummmmm he kinda wanted revenge for what happened to his brother?" Izuku said meekly.
"Izuku honey, remind me to talk to your friend later."
Izuku eeped at the sight of the terrifying glare on his mother's face, even Bakugo knew not to make his mother mad, I'm sorry Tenya I didn't mean too.
"Yes Young Midoriya, I shall be talking with Aizawa about this. I cannot believe the foolhardiness Young Iida demonstrated today. I had thought he was the smart one."
"I'm pretty sure the only smart one in my group is Momo to be honest." Izuku sighed again, god today was the worst. "Also Toshinori, I need to talk to you about something when we get the chance."
"Izuku I don't like you keeping secrets from your mother but I know you have a good reason. It's just good to finally see you again." Inko had missed her son dearly.
"I promise I'll talk to Nedzu when I get back and get you visiting rights Mom, the schools just been worried about another attack. Rightly so apparently" Izuku muttered that last part. Nomu means the league was involved after all.
The group walked the rest of the way to the hospital room in question, room 303. It seems they were allowed in now. "Before you guys come in can I talk to them real fast? I just want some alone time with them, I'll be like 5 minutes at the most." Izuku gave his Mother and Toshinori his best puppy dog eyes.
"Fine dear I know you all went through something horrible together, we'll give you all some time alone first." Inko knew that wasn't the real reason her son was doing this but she never could fight those eyes.
Izuku stepped into the room, seeing Tenya still passed out, Todoroki checking his bandaged body, and Momo just staring at her arm. "Hey guys they finally let me in are you all doing okay?"
Todoroki merely nodded but Momo rushed him and put her non bandaged arm around him. "I'm just so glad we made it out, I was so worried when you said Stain had gotten you. When I saw him standing over you with his sword poised to stab you I was so scared."
Izuku returned the hug patting her. "Me too Momo, me too." They kept that up for several minutes, thankfully Todoroki looked away the whole time. "I'm sorry to bring this up now but it's really important, this case is likely connected to the league which means a detective friend of mine will be coming here to question us, it's his case after all. You all might have met him after the USJ but anyway the reason I'm mentioning this is his quirk."
Todoroki blinked. "Which is?"
Izuku gave him a serious look before responding. "Lie detection, it works like a regular polygraph. Which is how we're going to beat it. I know you both promised to keep what happened under wraps and I plan on going to find Native after this to tell him the same thing. Make sure you never mention WHO killed stain, just that stain was killed. The statement isn't a lie so he won't be able to detect it. I know you both probably hate that you have to lie to the police for me and I'm really sorry for losing my cool back there but when I saw Tenya dying on the floor something in me snapped guys. Please forgive me." Izuku bowed before the both of them.
Momo simply forced him to raise his head. "We've been over this already Izu, we don't hate you and we certainly don't blame you, right Todoroki?"
"Yeah." The half hot half cold boy responded. "I gotta say though Midoriya, you get into a lot of trouble, though this was technically Iida's fault to begin with so eh." Todoroki shrugged.
Izuku wiped his eyes before he broke down. "Thanks guys, you're the best." He paused before remembering the adults waiting outside. "Toshinori and my Mother wanted to check in on you guy's is it cool if they come in?"
Both of the other teens nodded their assent.
"Mom, Toshinori-san you can come in now." Izuku spoke in a louder tone indicating that it was okay for the adults to come in.
A mop of green hair rather similar to her boyfriends came in first. "Momo-chan it's so good to see you again, I see you're still good friends with my lil Izuku." Inko smiled at the girl.
Wait friends? Momo turned her head to her boyfriend. Engaging him in a silent conversation. HAVE YOU NOT TOLD HER YET?
Izuku panicked realizing he had not told his mother they were dating yet, so he shook his head.
Inko watched the scene before her with some amount of curiosity. "What's wrong?"
Momo put on the fakest smile she could. "Oh it's nothing ms. Midoriya, I just remember something Izuku told me earlier."
Inko could tell that the girl in front of her was lying, she had never been particularly good at it. She looked between the two before it finally clicked, so that's how it is. Oh I can have some fun with this but that's for later. Inko turned before addressing the other boy who was currently conscious. "And you are? I haven't gotten to talk to my son as much lately because the school wouldn't let people visit."
"That's completely fine M'am, my name is Shouto Todoroki and I'm one of your son's friends."
"Oh I'm so happy you chose to be friends with him, he only had Momo while he was growing up so it's good to see him branching out." Inko cheered internally, she had been worried about her son truth be told at one point. He lost his spark when he was younger, he never mentioned it but she saw it. When Izuku had been declared quirkless it destroyed him, it wasn't until he turned 10 and All Might came into his life that he changed back to how he was.
"If anything he chose me to be his friend M'am, he can be oddly perseverant." Todoroki thought back to everything Midoriya had done to try and help him and a small smile reached his lips.
"Oh I know trust me and stop it with that M'am stuff Todoroki, please just call Inko." She turned her gaze to the final occupant in the room, his breathing was shallow and he was strapped up to an IV. "Is that Iida?"
Todoroki was the one to reply. "Yes it is, he took a sword stab meant for me. I don't think I would have taken it as well since my costume doesn't have any armor."
"What a brave boy, being able to jump into danger to defend the people you care about. Honestly I'm just glad that psychotic murderer is dead, after I got the news I started researching him on my way over here. I have to say you all got out lucky when I saw just how many deaths he was responsible for." Inko noticed the room winced at the mention of the murderer, she probably shouldn't have said that. "Sorry I didn't mean to remind you all, that was tactless."
"It's fine Mom, just don't bring him up again please."
Todoroki finally brought up something he had been wondering about. "Um sir, I don't think you ever introduced yourself." Todoroki asked the gaunt skeleton in the corner.
Toshinori who had been sitting back against a chair comfortably listening to the conversation decided to join in. "My apologies but you all have been talking and I did not want to interrupt. My name is Yagi Toshinori and I work for All Might as a talent scout so to speak. I was the one who originally introduced Young Midoriya and Yaoyorozu to the man."
Todoroki knew those two had connections to All Might but he didn't know exactly what that connection was. Todoroki was finally glad to get it cleared up, he had thought Yaoyorozu was like All Might's secret love child or something. Super strength and creation felt like two separate quirks after all. Wait two separate quirks, oh Izuku gave her another one, he's definitely going to ask her about that later. "Oh I see, that explains a lot."
"I am also glad you all escaped relatively unharmed but that's enough about that. Let's switch the topic to more light hearted subjects."
And so they all talked for what felt like hours, on everything from school classes to work to favourite foods. They were finally interrupted when a familiar police detective walked in. Everyone in the room turned to look at the man.
He simply smiled before rubbing the back of his head. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything but I do need to get statements from you all, I mean I already got Native's statement so I'm not really expecting any new information but procedures and all that. How are you doing Toshinori, Midoriya? It's good to see you both."
Todoroki was the first one to talk. "Is this that police detective you mentioned Midoriya?" He gave Izuku a knowing look, as if asking is this the one I can't lie too.
"Oh my apologies for not introducing myself my name is Naomasa Tsukauchi and if Midoriya mentioned a police detective it was probably me, I've known him for let's see... 5 years now?" The man raised his gaze as he thought.
"Yeah that's the friend I mentioned, he's the police contact I use when giving and taking quirks." Izuku was being very careful with his wording now, the slightest slip up could arouse suspicion and if the man had already gotten a statement from Native and Izuku wasn't under arrest then it's safe to say Native already knew about the man's quirk.
"So the gist of it is, Native was attacked by the serial killer. Iida came to save him then Midoriya came to save Iida, Yaoyorozu arrived shortly after and finally Todoroki arrived. Midoriya and Yaoyorozu can you elaborate on how you came to know about the attack?" The detective asked.
"Well I had some suspicions before Internships because Iida had been acting very strangely and he picked a relatively unknown hero agency. The only reason I could see him picking the place was because it was in Hosu where the hero killer was. So myself and Momo suggested to the principal that he should monitor Iida for the week. Which Nedzu agreed too. We were on our way to the city with Gran Torino before a Nomu smashed into the train car we were in. He had some unknown hero with him, Torino dashed off after the Nomu telling us to stay put. After I saw Hosu was on fire, I knew I couldn't sit around and do nothing, so I called the principal who gave us permission to act but he told us to try and avoid fighting if possible. He gave me Iida's last known location so we sped off in that direction. I arrived first and sent out my location using my phone, which is why Todoroki arrived. After that you kn-" Izuku stopped himself immediately, saying you know the rest would be a lie. He quickly changed his wording. "Know the fight went down, everyone got injured, and stain died, after that the Nomu grabbed Iida so I chased after it and kept it in place until Endeavour killed it." Hopefully that sudden pause wasn't too suspicious.
"Yeah that's about what I expected Midoriya. Thanks for filling in the gap as to how you all knew about the attack." The detective shrugged putting his notebook away. "Thanks for all the info, sorry to bug you all after that traumatic experience."
As he watched the detective walk away Izuku felt All Might's gaze piercing his soul. Honestly out of everyone in the room he expected All Might to be the last person in the room to catch that slip up.
"Alright well it's time I got home, I have work in the morning. It was wonderful meeting all of you, also call me more Izuku." Inko bowed as she left the room.
"Midoriya, let's talk." All Might pointed to the door.
Well not the way the he planned on telling All Might but he already knew he was going to have too. "It's alright Toshinori they already know. You caught my slip up with the detective, right?"
He turned to the other two conscious people. "I was already planning on telling him guys." They both looked skeptical but nodded anyway. "Toshinori it wasn't Native who killed Stain, it-t ww-as m-me." Izuku stuttered out that last bit.
"You did what?" Toshinori's gaze turned dark, he almost went back into his buff form but stopped when he remembered Todoroki was in the room. "Explain. Now."
"Stain had hurt everyone else and Iida was on the ground bleeding out, I watched as the man charged Native who was still under Stain's quirk. I k-kind of snapped when I thought he'd killed Iida and was about to kill somebody else, everything turned white and before I knew it I was smashing the man's head into the floor over and over again. I don't know how long I would've been doing that if Momo hadn't stopped me." Izuku looked down while he explained everything.
Momo shuddered remembering the gore and sheer savagery Izuku inflicted upon the man. I wonder if that's going to be my nightmare tonight or the lifeless body of Iida. Great she has options now, maybe the USJ will rear its ugly head again. If Momo weren't laughing she would certainly be crying.
Todoroki really didn't like the idea of telling anyone about what really happened tonight but if Midoriya trusted this man that much then it's not his place to say.
Toshinori sat there silently for quite some time, staring at the boy while he thought. "It really hurts doesn't it Midoriya, watching your best friend die at the hands of a villain? You probably thought something along the lines of I can't let this man live any longer right?"
Izuku looked up when he heard that. "Y-yea." He replied weakly.
"While I cannot condone your actions today it would be remiss of me to scold you for them." He didn't elaborate, he didn't need to. Toshinori knew the boy would know what he was talking about. "Just don't speak of this and be glad that Tsukauchi didn't catch your slip up. I will be heading out as well, good night to all of you and give Iida my best wishes." Toshinori had a lot to think about after that conversation. One of his successors had already been forced to become a murderer, how long until the other one does as well. What kind of messed up world forces these choices onto children of all people.
Todoroki turned to Midoriya. "Your going to get caught if you keep telling people Midoriya. You already messed up once."
"I know but I trust him, Toshinori will understand."
Momo knew what Izuku was talking about of course, All Might tried to kill All for One after all. "We can trust him Todoroki, Toshinori wouldn't betray us like that. If I were forced to do what Izuku was tonight I wouldn't mind telling him either."
"If you both say so." Todoroki scoffed but turned immediately when he heard groaning from the side of the room. "...Iida?"
Iida felt so lethargic, like he'd run 10 miles he groaned slowly opening his eyes. He thought he heard someone calling his voice but it felt so far away. He blinked trying to focus his vision and reorient himself. He struggled before forcing himself up, he looked around trying to find his glasses only to see a pair to his left, one of the lenses was broken but it was better than nothing. He put them on before looking around the room. He saw all his friends staring at him in relief, I guess we won then. "Hello everyone it is a pleasure to see that you all have survived our ordeal with the hero killer." He attempted to bow but the bandages combined with his soreness made it impossible. He lifted his head as Yaoyorozu approached him before suddenly feeling a burning pain in his face. Ah so it appears I have been slapped. "I suppose I deserved that Yaoyorozu. I must apologize to you all for what my actions have caused." He attempted to bow again before being hugged.
"You stupid idiot, if you tell us when your going to do something like that we'd probably help. If it weren't for you Native would be dead and the hero killer would still be out there." Momo released the one armed hug before returning to her bed.
"Ah so we successfully apprehended the villain, that is at least some good news." Iida attempted to chop his hands but was once again stopped by his injuries and bandages.
Todoroki looked around the room and decided that this was his job. "He wasn't apprehended Iida, he's dead." His voice calm and monotone as ever.
Iida shook. "Wha-?"
Momo spoke before Izuku could tell yet another person that he was a murderer, Iida didn't need that on his conscience. "Native killed the hero killer after you went down, he was finally able to break free from Stain's quirk before he used his totem quirk to assume the aspect of a bear and he snapped his neck." She stared at Izuku telling him to shut up.
Izuku just gulped and let it happen, also that stare was kinda hot.
"I-I cannot believe it. Our battle resulted in the fatality of the hero killer?"
"Iida the man tried to kill you and Native. Honestly after he cut you we assumed you were dead, in fact if it wasn't for Midoriya you would be. Stain needed to be stopped by any means necessary. Also Midoriya saved you a second time when that Nomu grabbed you."
He had been grabbed by a nomu?! "Izuku I am so sorry for everything I put you through! I already vouched my support for you but now it seems I owe you three life debts. I have no idea how I could ever repay you but I shall endeavor to do so anyway." Iida forced himself through the pain to bow correctly this time, ... well as correctly as one can from a bed.
"Tenya it's fine we're friends, you don't owe me anything. Just buy me lunch sometime and I'll call it even." Izuku chuckled at the boy.
"A lunch meal is not worth my brother's life and mine twice over, I promise to repay you at some point."
"Fine fine, just keep being friends with me and it'll be okay, I'm sure we'll find some way for you to repeat me later." Izuku yawned. "Alright guys it's like 4 am right now so I'm exhausted. I'm gonna crash on that empty bed, you all should too. As soon as the adrenaline wears off I'm sure you'll want to sleep as well." Izuku flopped onto remaining hospital bed and promptly passed out.
Izuku would say his sleep was peaceful but let's be real it wasn't, although he didn't have any nightmares he missed sleeping with Momo next to him. He tossed and turned for several hours throughout the night before being forcibly awoken at 10 am by the entrance of Manual, Gran Torino and the police chief.
Man it'd been awhile since Izuku had seen the dog headed man, what 2-3 years? Izuku straightened himself out before addressing the man. "It's good to see you police commissioner how have you been." Izuku got up and bowed since he was the least injured of the group, that and Todoroki and Momo were still asleep.
"I've been good my day significantly brightened when I heard the hero killer had been stopped, however the details surrounding the situation certainly dimmed that light. It's good to see you as well Midoriya. Can you wake those two up please, we need to be having an important conversation."
Izuku complied and gently shook his girlfriend awake, to which she was not happy about while Todoroki got up on his own after hearing the commotion currently going on.
"By the way don't think I'm not going to chew you both out later, because I will but this conversation needs to happen first." Torino glared at both of his internees.
They all stared at the dog headed man waiting for him to speak.
"Midoriya already knows me but I am Kenji Tsuragame, the chief of police. So you're the kids that helped put down the Hero Killer. It seems I made the right choice in believing in you Midoriya, good job and while I havent met you before you did a good job as well ms. Yaoyorozu." His face darkened after he praised the two. "However you two were never given express permission to fight and you in particular." He pointed at Iida. "Actively went looking for a fight from what the reports say, honestly what is U.A. teaching you. The 2 of you as well as your mentors must be punished strictly and impartially."
Izuku was surprised when it was Todoroki that spoke and he looked angry. "How dare you, if Iida hadn't acted Native would be dead, and if I hadn't shown up Midoriya or Yaoyorozu would be dead. Did you want me to just sit there and watch my friends die? How could anyone who desires to be a hero act in such a cowardly manner. Your 'Laws' would've killed 3 people and by acting we prevented that and helped stop a serial killer."
"Woof. Clearly you've much to learn." The dog looked down at him condescendingly.
Todoroki's glare deepend. "You damn mutt."
"Wait listen to what he has to say." Gran Torino stopped Todoroki from continuing.
He brought his hands to his mouth. "All of what I just said is what would happen if the police became involved. However we could handle this matter in an alternative manner, privately. Fortunately there were almost no eye witnesses to the incident, if we go public with the story that all four of you helped the heroes take down the Hero killer you would be given accolades and praise however we could not avoid punishing you two. What if on the other hand only Yaoyorozu, Midoriya, and Native were involved in that battle, or should I say Deva, All for None, and Native. You would not need to be punished but neither would you get any of the credit you deserve."
Todoroki's glare softened returning to his neutral position. He was already covering up the story with one lie so why not another. "That's ... fine with me."
Iida bowed. "I thank you for showing such leniency Police Commissioner! I promise I will strive to obey the laws in the future."
"Well since the public will not be showing the two of you any praise for your actions I would like to speak on behalf of them Todoroki, Iida, thank you for what you did." The commissioner bowed at the two of them.
Iida received a chop on his head from Manual. "Just don't do it again, it's our fault too that we let our interns run off without stopping them."
"Yeah you brats almost got my license suspended for 6 months." Torino chimed in.
The commissioner spoke one last time. "Well I wish you all a speedy recovery and with that our business is concluded."
Todoroki just grumbled. "You could've led with that next time."
With that our back alley fight with the dangerous serial killer Stain ended. Little did we know at the time what implications our fight would have on the future.
