Hey Everyone,

We are FINALLY at the dance. I know, I know, took you long enough Writer Girl. I hope that you enjoy the dance and all of the songs that I picked. I will have a list at the end of each of the dance chapters. Let's see what the boys got for Bella. Thank you all for reading and – hopefully enjoying – my story. Happy Reading.

I don't own any of the Twilight characters and materials. I only make them dance around the Halloween music and 2008 pop hits.

Chapter 26: Dance the Night Away

We made it to the school by about 7:15. Fashionably late, according to Alice. We got out of the cars and straightened our costumes. I almost landed on my ass when I stepped onto the curb, and my shoe went sideways. Edward and Jake helped me right myself. Once I seemed stable again, Edward ducked into his mom's trunk. He emerged with a small duffle bag and a huge smirk. Jake high-fived him, and they both looked like they were getting away with something big. They turned to me, grinning. Edward held out the bag to me like it was a Christmas present.

"What is this?" I said, giggling at their matching goofy grins.

"Jake and my contingency plan. Open it," Edward said.

I unzipped the bag slowly and made a show of peeking into the bag. My heart melted when I realized what it was.

"My sneakers! My Heroes!" I squealed, grabbing them both around the neck and squeezing the life out of them.

Jake bowed theatrical and chuckled. "At your service, m'lady. We know how Alice is sometimes, but we wanted you to be able to enjoy tonight, too."

"Yeah, just like Astrid, see means well, but she goes way overboard. As long as you were those in, you should be clear to change in a few minutes," Edward said, pulling back to wink at me. God, I loved these boys! Two months and they knew me well enough to smuggle my sneakers.

"You guys ready yet?" Emmett yells over to us. He has his arm around Rose's waist, who looked like she was the happiest girl in the world. For all of his joking around, Emmett was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. I'm sure Rose was pretty lucky since Emmett was wearing the face.

"Yeah, Emmy," Edward said, laughing. "We are. Let's go bring the house down."

"The girls can call me Emmy, Edtard. Not you." Emmett shot back, punching Edward's arm as we passed.

"Now, boys, behave." Alice giggled. "Now, once we go in, only nicknames."

"Yeah, although Edtard has some potential," Jasper laughed.

"Real mature, boys. Let's go before the dance is over. Shall we?" I said Alice and Rose were still shaking their heads.

We made our way to the outside doors of the auditorium. The doors were propped open and the almost oppressively loud bass beat of Michael Jackson's Thriller assaulted our ears. Two 10th graders manned the ticket table, dressed as Christine and the Phantom. The theme that they'd chosen was classic horror movies, and they all dressed the part. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy, Swamp Thing, The Wolf Man, even The Fly and the guy from The Alligator People. Don't judge me, I watch a lot of old movies with Nana and Papa Swan.

The decorations were spectacular. Each corner was a different scene from a classic monster movie. The laboratory from Frankenstein, The tomb from The Mummy, The cemetery from The Wolf Man, and the dungeon from Dracula. They even had a cardboard chandelier over the stage for The Phantom of the Opera.

"Wow, this is phenomenal!" I whisper, realizing that Edward and I were looking around like Hogwarts first years. Whatever space wasn't a part of a scene was covered in fake cobwebs, giant foam spiders, homemade ghosts, floating candles, and a table in front of the stage, selling plastic fangs, masks, spider rings, and pre-made goodie bags. I would have to stop there and get some things for Nessie. Out in the hallway, there was a concession table filled with cupcakes, cookies, candy, caramel and candied apples, and a bowl of punch. The chairs that we set up for the chorus lined the walls where the floor was clear of props.

"Hey, girls," Emmett yelled over the Phantom of the Opera's Main Theme. "Why don't you go get seats, and we'll go and get some punch."

"Okay," Rose answers and winks at Emmett.

"So, I have to know. How long have you and Everett been seeing each other?" Alice squealed.

"It'll be a month next Thursday," Rose answered, giggling at the use of Emmett's nickname or maybe at Alice's directness. She would get used to it.

"Wow, I had no idea," I said. I was honestly astonished that Emmett was able to keep his mouth shut. "And it's going pretty well?" I half asked. Between what I had seen at the house during the photoshoot and the winks and looks that had been exchanged since we had arrived, there was little doubt.

"Yeah, I really like him, even though he's a goofball. He brightens my day, you know. He drags me out of my books for a while. My mom says anyone who can do that is a keeper," she said with a laugh. "Like tonight. I'd never have come to this on my own even though I really wanted to. It's better to stay home studying than have to deal with those three for longer than I have to." Rose pointed at the sham squad over on the opposite side of the floor. Tanya, Irina, and Victoria didn't disappoint in making a joke of themselves in the leather gloves that were supposed to be dressed as Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Lu from Charlie's Angels. Most of the male population that had shown up so far were very appreciative of their outfits. All of the adults looked like they wanted to give them detention, but they were just skirting the dress code. Barely.

"God Almighty. If I even thought about coming down that stairs in that, my mother would never let me leave the house again," I said. Alice and Rose nodded in agreement.

"I mean, what the hell?" Alice said, flailing her arms around at them.

"Yeah, I know. And they act like I don't know they talk about me. Friends don't do that. We were in Girl Scouts and 4-H together and now…" Rose trailed off, seeming to get a little upset.

"Well, you never have to go back to that," Alice said. "Welcome to the family."

"Thank you. Who's going back? You guys are already more fun," Rose said, smiling.

At that, we hugged and sat down. Soon after, we saw the boys re-enter the room, carrying drinks. Jake was the only one with a free hand. As they passed the sham squad, he made sure we were looking and then put his index finger into his open mouth and pretended to gag looking toward them. The three of us laughed so hard that without the music, we would have been outed. As it was, the song ended and, for about a second and a half, we were the only sound. When Ghostbusters started to play, everyone went back to their groups.

"Thanks for that, Jake," I said, smacking him once he was in range.

"Ow!" he yelled and then smirked. "Sorry, but I couldn't pass that up. I mean, come on! You're just mad because I got to do it and not you."

"Damn, you know me too well."
