It's been 5 years since Tam and I started dating. Today in particular was nerve-racking because today I was doing something BIG.
"Tam, would you like to go out to "our" place?" I said almost inaudibly I was that nervous!
If I were human, my palms would be sweaty, my heart rate would be sky-high, my blood pressure would rise and my breathing would quicken (Vampires/Vampiresses don't need to breathe but they do anyway.) It was now or never I thought.
"Our place? How about we go to that forest clearing we played baseball at that one time, with everyone! Of course when the weather is a thunderstorm."
"Hmm...I don't see why not. Wanna play baseball too?"
"Of course! Even though I suck at it." She replied with a light giggle.
"Okay, I'll ask everyone else if they wanna go."
(A few minutes later.)
"Alright Tam, it's everyone but Tula and Emmett."
"Let's start then! I'll grab the baseball and bats!"
(A few more minutes later.)
"Okay, I have everything!"
"Let's go then, sweetheart."
Me, Tammy, Rosalie, and Esme got in Edward's silver Volvo, whereas Edward, Carlisle, and Alice got into Emmett's large monster truck. I was driving, so I obeyed the speed limit for Tam's sake.
"Oh my god Jasper, why are you driving so bloody slow?"
"Because Tammy has a fear of speed so I'm obeying the speed limit for her."
"Ugh," Rose complained.
She muttered something under her breath which I took no notice of.
(20 minutes and a lot of speed limit obeying later.)
"Ugh, finally we're here!" Rose complained again.
"Rose!" Esme snapped.
"Sorry we took so long guys; Tam has a fear of speed so I was obeying the speed limit."
"That's quite alright dear," Esme replied.
"Who's ready to play ball?" I yell excitedly.
"Me!" Everyone else yelled simultaneously.
So, we started playing baseball, when suddenly we heard another car engine. We all whipped around almost simultaneously. And there they were, hopping out of the car, Emmett, and Tula.
"We decided to come and play ball with you guys," Emmett explained, glaring at me.
That's when I felt Tam's emotion change from content and happy to frightened and fearful. I was at her side in minutes.
"It's okay Tam, calm down," I whispered so only she could hear. Her mood didn't change a single bit so I decided to take her away from everyone else.
"I'm gonna take Tammy into the forest for a while," I explained to the others. Rosalie and Esme gave me a knowing look and replied:
"Okay, Jasper. Bring her back when you're done scouring the forest."
So, I took her away from the others and sang to her.
"Darling don't be afraid,
I have loved you for a thousand years,
I'll love you for a thousand more."Instantaneously she calmed down.
"Are you ready to go back?" I asked gratefully. She nodded her head, but I sent a few waves of calm her way just in case, and we headed back to the pitch.
When we arrived back, the game had already started, and it was pouring it down with rain. The rumble of thunder disguises our game, which is crucial due to our amazing physical strength from being vampires/vampiresses. A few rounds go by and we decide to take a break, more for Tam's sake than our own, because we don't need to rest or anything. And that's when I took the opportunity to do what I had been waiting to do all day.
Tammy's POV:
While resting, I decided to wander around the forest for a while, but before I could Jas shouted for everyone to gather when I was sat.
And then suddenly, Jas was on one knee...
"Tammy, ever since I sensed your depression, my love for you has grown. Each and everyday I love you even more so that's why I ask...Tammy, will you marry me?"
I was...was...dang there're no words to describe how excited, shocked, and surprised I was. My heart started racing faster than it ever had. But I knew my answer to his question...
"Yes, Jasper. Yes, I will!" Jasper slid the ring on my finger and then kissed me longer than he ever had. When we finally pulled apart, that was when the chorus of cheers started.
"WOO! FINALLY!" Alice yelled.
"Congratulations soon-to-be Mrs. Hale." Esme and Carlisle said.
"Congratulations!" Rosalie exclaimed.
"Woo!" Edward yelled.
That's when I looked over at them, Emmett and Tula looked infuriated. They also looked...jealous?
Jasper's POV:
I could sense the jealousy and anger coming from both Tula and Emmett, but I didn't care. Tammy and I needed to plan our wedding but I knew someone who would ask to plan it. Just as I was thinking about it Alice exclaimed:
"Please, please, please can I plan your wedding?"
Tam and I looked at each other and then back at Alice.
"Of course!" Tam yelled excitedly.
I was surprised by Tam's response but I allowed it.
"Only if you don't make it dull." I chimed in.
"I would never!" Alice sounded slightly offended and I laughed.
"It's gonna be THE MOSTextravagant wedding in the history of weddings!" Alice said with extraordinary excitement.
I snigger before saying "Ha! Yeah, okay then Alice." She just glared at me still excited though.
"Are you seriously getting married to that?" Emmett said with a large hint of anger in his voice.
"I agree like seriously? Tammy, of all people? Honey, she's the last person you wanna marry. Honestly, she's worthless." Tula chimed in.
I could sense Tammy's sadness before she even started crying. Tears welled down her face and she ran into the forest alone.
"I should go after her!" I yelled, already speeding at maximum vampire speed after her but managing to glare at the two.
(A few minutes later)
I finally found Tammy after like 5 minutes. I could see the sadness in her eyes as tears spilled down her face, out of her control. Her eyes were already red from crying most likely non-stop. I immediately ran to her side. I started to sing her favorite song.
"Heartbeats fast,
Colors and promises,
How to be brave."I started. I could sense the change in her mood almost immediately. I kissed her on top of her forehead.
"Tammy, shh, shh, it's okay. Everything is gonna be okay." I whispered comfortingly. She stopped crying after a few minutes, and she nuzzled her head into my chest as we sat in silence while she calmed down. Suddenly, a surge of anger sifted through me, I knew it wasn't from Tam. It was coming from...me. I was angry at what Emmett had said to me about Tam and I wanted to hurt him, but I knew I couldn't for two reasons:
One, he's way stronger than I am.
Two, Carlisle would kick me out, and I couldn't leave Tammy alone in that house with Emmett.
I managed to calm myself down. I had to be there for Tammy, not thinking about hurting Emmett. I could sense Tam felt much better so I decided to say:
"Tam, we should head back. They'll be wondering where we are."
"O-Okay." She sniffled; I could tell she was feeling anxious, so I sent some waves of calm towards her.
"Thanks, Jas."
"You're welcome, sweetheart. Now let's go back before they worry."
(A few minutes later)
After a few minutes, we arrived back at the baseball pitch. Everyone looked relieved to see us, I guess they thought we were in trouble or something.
"Where have you been!" Esme exclaimed, still worried.
"Sorry, it took a while to calm little miss over here," I said, pointing jokingly at Tam.
"That's okay dear," Esme replied, less worried. I realized Emmett and Tula weren't there anymore and a sudden surge of worry crossed me.
"Where're Emmett and Tula?" I asked, cautiously.
"Oh, I kind of kicked them out. They went home to pack." Carlisle replied.
"Oh, alright then." We all decided to go home since the weather had already cleared by this point.
