Chapter 23

The Battle of the Heart and the Mind

Plus...

Damien?

Luis opened his eyes and saw Louie staring down at him with a worried look on his face and concern in his eyes. Luis smiled then groaned as Louie helped him up.

"You look like a full grown out nerd!" Louie exclaimed, looking Luis up and down to his button up flannel shirt to his flip flops and worse, Luis had glasses sticking out from the pocket of his green, blue, and red flannel long sleeved shirt.

"Bets being the jock type you secretly want to be also." Luis shot back and shivered. He had tried the jock version of himself. Didn't like it much. He then felt more nausea then bent down and held his head between his legs.

He was getting dizzy from the emotion high he had just felt.

"Right." He said, his face getting red. "Like that will ever happen. I'm too lazy. Remember?" He asked.

Luis chuckled weakly and almost fell. Louie caught his arm and pulled him up. Luis smiled then groaned again. The emotion of fear replaced with love again bubbled up inside him.

"Sorry about that." Louie apologized, sheepishly. Feeling the wave of emotion from Luis through him too. "I didn't expect that -."

"It's fine." Luis interrupted, beaming at him. "Because I finally felt from you what I wanted this entire time..." He grabbed Louie into a tight hug.

"Yeah." Louie whispered. "Sorry, it took so long." He added. "So, you think, is this the end of us?" He asked, in a fearful voice as they broke apart.

Luis smiled sadly at him and nodded.

Louie's eyes swelled up with tears.

"But not just yet," Luis told him, "I, I've been holding something back from you. Something that could have made your life a bit easier, if I had just shown you that from the beginning, then, maybe all this wouldn't have had to happen.." His voice trailed off and Louie saw the small light travel fast and landed on the door that Louie had been trying to open since he got stuck in here.

"W,What's behind the door, Luis." Louie asked, a hint of fear and curiosity in his voice.

"My memory of how I came to be." Luis muttered as he reached for the doorknob. Louie looked at him sharply.

"What do you mean? How you you came to be?" Louie asked as Luis gripped the handle and turned it. The door creaked open but he held it a bit longer, as he looked back at Louie. "I thought, ya know, I was crazy or something was wrong with me..." Louie's voice trailed off when he saw the look of guilt on Luis's face.

"You were never, crazy, Louie." Luis said, "I, I couldn't bare for you know, then toss me aside like yesterday's garbage. I, I cared about you too much..." His voice wavered.

"Luis." Louie began. "I'd never -."

Luis didn't let him finish, because he flew open the door and they both were engulfed in white light...

"Curse you McDuck!" Magica howled as Scrooge used what force he had to trap her inside the dime.

Louie watched as Scrooge walked away and Lena appeared in the form of Magica's shadow. Then, the scene switched, he saw Luis, then Asha, and someone in the shadows who Louie couldn't make out.

"She wants us to make them think they need us." Luis told Asha.

Luis stared at the scene in front of him and Louie. He had forgotten he had met Asha before. How could he have forgotten? Was he so abosorbed in the fact of pleasing Magica, and protecting Louie that he just, forgot?

"That'll be easy." Asha replied, she looked at Luis and smiled warmly at him as she inched closer to him. Louie glanced over at Luis who rolled eyes eyes as Louie arched an eyebrow. "For you, especially." She told him.

Asha looked like a gangster, with full out black leather jacket, her hair was all black, and in goth style with the tips of it dyed purple. She wore a skull ring on her left finger and had on black combat boots.

"That Louie is a weakling." Said a muffled voice from the shadows.

Luis stiffened beside Louie while the one beside Asha also stiffened. Louie peered through the darkness and saw a pair of eyes, he couldn't make out who they were attached too. The voice was like it was on one of those cop shows where they hid the voice of the person they'd want to protect the identity from as they were sat in front of the TV.

Asha swallowed hard, and Louie noticed her trembling slightly as she grabbed Luis's hand. They were terrified of the voice, and Louie wanted so badly to know who it's owner was. He looked at the Luis beside him, and opened his mouth to ask but Luis frantically shooked his head, motioning him to be quiet.

"Once they gain your trust, use that against them. Make them yield, they'll do anything for you once you do." The muffled voice told them, then paused, "You guys are too go first." The voice ordered.

"Why?" The Luis beside Asha asked. "What makes you -."

But his voice was drowned out by a flick of a knife flying at him. It hit the wall behind them, bouncing off and clinkering to the ground. Asha knew what that sound had been and had enough time to pull Luis closer to her just as the sound of the knife was flung.

Louie noticed both Louis's stood, frozen in place as the muffled voice laughed.

"I have my reasons." The voice told them. "You, Luis will be the very first, then, Asha will go next. I have needs I wish for her to take care of first before she goes." The voice cooed.

Asha shivered slightly.

"Explains the trust issues." Luis beside Louie muttered to himself.

Louie wondered how much of this memory Luis does remember because by the look on his face, he doesn't remember half of what was going on...

"Fine, then." Luis beside Asha snapped. He looked over at Asha who looked back at him with her eyes wide and a frighten look on her face. Luis put his forehead to hers, "It's going to be okay. I promise." He told her as the shadows started to cover Luis's entire body. "Stay strong, okay?" He pleaded as he began to sink into the floor.

Asha held onto his hand, until she couldn't anymore and whimpered as he completely disappeared, leaving her alone, but not entirely.

The muffled voice chuckled softly and Louie noticed that it was lot closer to Asha. Asha yelped when something pulled her back, making her fall to the floor. Louie was getting to the point in decking the muffled voice and pulling Asha out of there. He glanced over at Luis and could tell he wanted to do the same thing, but was holding back for some reason.

They just stood, and watched Asha thrashing about as she was being dragged away into the darkness. They heard loud smacks as if someone was hitting someone, and that someone was Asha who started to cry out in pain from the blows.

Then memory faded and all was quiet as the door to Luis's memory slowly shut by itself. Leaving Luis and Louie alone with their thoughts.

"So, you, you were just using us?" Louie asked, his anger boiling over. "You never wanted to help or protect me, did you?" He snarled at him.

"I didn't, at first." Luis explained.

"But, But then I met Webby, and, and something just clicked." Luis continued,

"I felt love for her, that made me want to feel love from you. It would stay, out of reach, just a bit, because I think Webby still cares for us, even, even, if she loves Dewey. But it never stays for very long, that feeling, I just wanted too keep that feeling, and now I have, with you." Luis told him, giving him a small smile. "I'm not evil, anymore Lou-Lou."

Louie's heart lifted.

"So, so what now?" Louie asked.

"Now," Luis said, sadly as he walked up close to him. "You need to let me go, and grow up. Be there for your family, Louie. They are going to need you, for what's coming." He said. "Tell Asha I'm sorry, and I'll be waiting for her..." His voice wavered when he said her name.

Louie blinked.

"Coming, what's coming?" Louie asked.

But Luis didn't answer instead he hugged Louie one more time before disappearing into him. Louie shuffled a bit, feeling Luis inside his body now. He felt complete for some reason. Sure, he'd still be the evil triplet Luis will always be apart of him. But now, he knew what he had to do, and he wasn't going to let anyone down, not if he had anything to say about it.

He felt himself stirring awake and he put his hand on his chest as if to feel Luis roaming around inside him. Yeah, he was going to be there for his family. All of them...

Asha crept up towards where Webby's memories told her where Scrooge McDuck's bedroom would be.

She was so sure that she was alone until she felt someone tap her shoulder, making her jump, and turn. Dewey stood behind her, with not a goofy smile like earlier, but a frown.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I, I have to get the number one dime, Dewey." Asha whispered. "T,To save Luis. He's in trouble, big time..." Her voice trailed off when Dewey's frown depend.

"You don't need to do that," Dewey told her. Asha blinked as Dewey grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close. "With him out of the way, I can finally have you all to myself." He told her softly.

Asha's heart thudded against her chest.

She studied Dewey.

His eyes were flashing black to gray then back again, making Asha sigh deeply.

"Who are you?" She whispered, as Dewey leaned in close to her.

"Damien." He answered.

Asha felt the blood drain from her face. Flashes of her and Damien in the depths of darkness together made her almost fall down on her knees. Damine was ruthless, cold, and a lot worse then both Luis and Asha put together. If Huey and Dewey thought Luis was evil. Damien was a flat out monster.

He snickered at the look on Asha's face before planting his bill on hers. She tried pulling away, but Dewey held onto her more tightly. The kiss was rough and hard, not one ounce of tenderness and care about it. Dewey pulled away to take a deep breath before diving in for another kiss without permission. "S,Stop!" Asha stammered, and pushed him roughly away.

Damien steadied himself then grinned deviously.

"No." Asha snapped as he took a step forward. "I'm going to save Luis, and you aren't going to stop me." She turned and ran.

Damien's heart lifted a bit.

"So, you want to play it that way?" Damien thought.

"Don't touch her, Damien!" Dewey's voice echoed in his ears.

"Dewford, I'm in control now." Damien said out loud. "You can't order me around. I'm not as soft as Luis is with Louie. You won't be getting any of that from me."

"Like I would even want that? Let me out!" Dewey shouted in his ears.

Nerp.

Damien imaged a hall closet within his mind. Saw Dewey's face turn as white as a ghost as he turned to run away from the single spot like that shown down from the hole. Dewey stared into the darkness of the closet. His stomach tightened as his phobia rose inside his chest and he started to hyperventilate.

Damien forced Dewey inside, and locked the door before Dewey had time to react. All he could hear from the outside was Damien's laughter.

"Y, you won't get away with this! Damien!" Dewey shouted, when he found his voice.

Damien just chuckled softly as he began to run after Asha. As far as Damien new, he already had gotten away with it. Away from him, and away from the darkness, finally able to serve his mistress, and not disappoint her like Luis had.

A smile spread across Damien's face.

He was going to enjoy this...
