The duo walked in silence, and even tho it was more tedious than the option he had given her she had declined his offer. She would rather walk. Kikyo might be taking his word for this slightly better offer than what she was already in, but that didn't mean she trusted him. Nope, she was powerful enough to take him down and she was sure he knew it. Little did she know, he had a secret and she wouldn't like what the secret revealed.
You know that you're wrong to trust him. And you're wrong about Inuyasha. Grumbling to the girl, her voice low so as to keep the demon before them from hearing, she gave her a warning. I mean if what happened is true, the jewel being in your custody and all, then why did he tell me that the jewel was in the village?
"He lied," she said aloud, realizing that she was talking to Kagome instead of thinking her thoughts to the girl she shut her mouth. Because he lied to you. A pause. And you need to stay out of my memories, little girl. It grew silent again in her mind and she sighed. This was such a nuisance to deal with another person and what they thought. She was an annoyance with her open heart. Such a weakling to believe what a half demon said her, trusting that he was there for her. You're so naive. There was a slight scoff from Kagome. Kikyo wanted to ignore it, but the girl was just like her former lover. Not in the trusting department, but that cocky little attitude she had. He'll say whatever he wants to get that jewel and then kill you once he has what he wants.
Okay, so how about this point of view, the girl said, her voice confident at her findings. He took the jewel from you and ran? Right? When she didn't receive a response she still continued, I mean he could have run away. That was spot was in his forest and yet, he was still close to that same spot, but in front of the God Tree... Sounds weird and his expression? Even if you were in too much pain to see that at the time I am sure you can see that he was tr-
"Shut up! You know nothing!" she fumed, her steps faltering as she narrowed her eyes, a headache beginning to form. It had been so long since she had had a body, tho where she had gone it was as if time never existed. She had been in darkness, a peace of some kind when a light had appeared. She had found herself looking at a pink glow, the perfect space disappeared and with it she had been thrown into a new body. Her previous life wiped clean as she joined the living again. I didn't want to be reborn... It had been simple. She would use her wish to take the jewel out of existence, burning it with her body. Apparently that had not been the correct wish...
The correct wish? Kikyo looked up, realizing that she had stopped and the demon was looking at her with a slightly split feelings. He seemed worried...and almost delighted... I remember hearing about that. I think. Scowling she started walking again, watching the demon with a cold gaze as she walked past him. She wouldn't wait for him to catch up, and even knowing that he was the only one who knew where this ogress lived she didn't care. She had her pride. He soon began to follow them.
"It's just another day's journey," the demon said. She scoffed. She wasn't alive and didn't need sleep. "And you are dead and you're not." Surprised she looked back at him in confusion. "I can read thoughts, dear." That wasn't good. "Tho, for some reason I can only read your thoughts and not the girl's. Strange as that has never happened before." She was really worried now, her initial idea of following him to this demon a fading prospect. "I can tell you now, that as soon as one of you has tired out and overpowered the other that you will regret not coming with me to see her." He chuckled darkly. "My master would also be upset after all that work."
Narakunoshimobe? Why does that have such a strange translation? Kikyo fought with herself not to answer, verbal or otherwise. He could hear her, but not the girl. That was still bugging her. How was that girl's voice silent when he was listening? She wasn't powerful in anyway so how was she invisible to the male? Such a strange name. She had to admit that the girl was right. It was a strange name. Abyss? Servant of Abyss? The male walking behind her seemed to stop, his footfalls silent on the dirt roads. She was getting ready to turn when it all went dark, the sharp pain on her skull the last feeling the darkness gave her before consuming all her feelings.
The raven haired female exited the cave, watching the distance as she struggled forward and past the older woman. The older woman watched in awe as the body she had created had come to life, tho still dead in her gaze it was almost dazed as it looked out. "Soon, I shall have the shards of the jewel and I will rise above all of the people. I will rule the world!" Her creation stopped, collapsing to the ground on her ass while still maintaining her gaze on the forest in the distance. Her body was glowing a faint pink, but moments later it was gone. That had been the jewel shard reacting? Hadn't it? Narrowing her eyes she thought back to the male that had approached her, the male giving her a demon to aid her in her ritual for the raven haired girl. She had been leery of the male's appearance and the fact that he knew what she had been looking to do.
*"I shall give you my servant and he shall assist you in your venture," the male said, his visage that of a white baboon. She couldn't see whom she was talking to, but was prepared to turn him down. Whatever he thought he was getting from her wasn't going to happen on her watch. "Trust me," he said, his voice husky with obvious cockiness. He held out his hand and in it were several shards, up to ten or so. Her eyes grew wide. "I will make it worth your while and with me it will be so much faster than you could even attempt old ogress." She narrowed her gaze at him. What did he want with her creation? "You will bake on of these in your creation and my servant will gather the one who holds her soul."
"Her soul?" she cackled. "She was not reincarnated." Now he chuckled, tho his held more darkness. She could see the twinkle of on of his eyes, so hidden in the shadows of his hood.
"Ah, but she failed in her attempt," he said, condescending to the Miko who had protected the jewel. "She failed in so many ways." He almost sounded angry, but there was also disgust in his tone. He was talking as if he had known the female in question. "She is coming back here, and soon you shall have the soul to fulfill your needs."
"Why? Why are you doing this?" He seemed to cock a brow, his posture almost relaying his pleasure at having her at an impasse.
"Why, I want nothing from you," he said before he asked again. "Are you taking my assistance? If not then I shall be on my way." He turned, his baboon cloak swirling around him. *
She had taken him up on his offer, knowing that had he not said anything before her creation's completion that would have wasted days or weeks to find her subject. Knowing that she had agreed, determined to use the shards he had promised her for her own needs. She was still unsure as to what he wanted. He seemed to find shards on his own with little trouble just judging the ones he had shown her, so he couldn't need the woman for that. He didn't just do that for his own good, either. No, the evil that had permeated from him was too strong for that. He wasn't an old demon, still young is what she could guess. Shaking her head she went back to her large, almost bath tub like ceramic structure. The bottom of it was filled with dust, almost green in appearance. She just needed for them to get closer before she added the water. Whatever it was that the male wanted she wouldn't give. She would use the creation once she had her soul. She would use it to kill the man. He hadn't even bothered to give her a name.
*"What is your name, demon?" He chuckled at her as he tossed the shard down to her, another demon coming out from the shadows.
"My name is of no use to you, but you shall have his name since he will be yours for the time being." The demon bowed low as the demon in the bamboo robe disappeared. She turned to him, narrowing her red eyes at her "help".
"My name is Narakunoshimobe," he said with a bow, his voice so cool, almost uncaring about being deposited off at her doorstep. "I just need one thing and I shall return with your soul." She inquired as to what she could provide him. "A special incense burner made from the bones of a strong demon and from a spiritual human. It must be dipped in gold from the inside out." She huffed at him, but went about collecting the items.*
This better be worth it was all she could think.
Having finally reached Kaede's village the trio headed down the hill, Shippo still sitting in the basket of the bike when the storm started. The lightening was fierce as it split the skies. Inuyasha cursed and snatching the bike from the monk rushed off toward's Kaede's hut. Shippo clung on as Miroku rushed after them. Bursting into the hut Inuyasha stood over the older Miko with the bike dripping onto the floor. Miroku stumbled in afterwards complaining about being left behind as he brushed the water off of his purple robes, his staff jingling with every movement. Shippo was rather quick in removing himself and his father's pelt off the bike before Inuyasha set it against the wall. All the while the older Miko just sat there, watching them with a bit of curiosity.
"Inuyasha," came the soft voice. "I have many questions as to the new guests, but the main on is where is Kagome?" The Hanyou scoffed, his words mumbled as he turned his head from her. "Did she go home?" Again he seemed to mumble, looking rather pissed off and maybe a bit ashamed.
"She's not at her home," he said, nonchalantly. "I don't really know where she went. We lost her a day or so ago." Her brows rose. "And before you go and say something stupid I didn't do it! Not my fault and not my concern!" Now it was her turn to scoff, tho looking rather upset with the silver haired male.
"So, Kagome is out there and you are here with more people?" Shippo, now having set his father's pelt somewhere to dry turned to her, the kitsune beginning his child like explanation of what happened to the raven haired child and that Miroku had Kageome's shards. She turned her eyes to the monk, looking at him with a ting of disgust. "Is this true?" He nodded, her wrinkled hand coming out, palm up. It almost appeared that he wouldn't them back, but with a glance at her stern visage he sighed and dropped them in her hand. Clasping them she turned to Inuyasha. "So, my sister has returned? How is that even possible?" He shrugged. Truly, he had no idea how she had come to possess Kagome's body.
"A necromancy demon had to have done it, just based on his aura and the scent that Inuyasha noted in the area." He then launched into who he was and what he had been obtaining the jewel shards for, her nodding at points. Kaede said nothing for a moment after he had finished, the news that not only was her sister's soul back, but the fact that she was inhabiting the other girl's body was concerning.
"Are you sure it was my sister's voice?" Inuyasha growled, his distaste for that particular subject apparent. "I am just making sure, Inuyasha." Again she began to think until Miroku broke her train of thought.
"You look concerned, Lady Kaede." She nodded. "Is it for your sister's soul?"
"I am concerned for her, yes, but I am more concerned for Kagome. She will have a little time before one of their souls takes over, the other one dissipating. The thing is Kikyo is dead and that body is not her's so it is more than likely that Kagome could regain her body and Kikyo would be gone again." Inuyasha didn't like the way she had said that. Something wasn't right. Not that he cared about the girl except for getting the shards, and although Kikyo could see them she was more likely to kill him first before gathering the shards or would she?
"What makes you think she couldn't regain control of her body?" Miroku questioned. "She's a Miko too, right?" Kaede nodded. Inuyasha didn't want to think of why the girl couldn't. He knew why there was still that possibility. He knew what she was going to say. But even as she thought that he knew that she was wrong. Even if Kagome had so little training she still had raw power. It seemed useless to have such a power and not have control, but she had managed to use it in a strange way. She just seemed to do it, her body almost seeming to know its own past. Her soul showing her the way easily it seemed.
"She could, but Kikyo, she had been raised to control her power from a really young age and Kagome just found out she had such a power." This was un-nerving to the trio, but Inuyasha wasn't super concerned.
She's not even my responsibility and even if I wanted to help her I could not. The thunder outside seemed to shake the very ground, the lightning illuminating the area outside the hut as the flap rustled in the strong wind that added to the shaking of the earth around them. That was the only sound as the four occupants sat there in deep thought. They needed to figure this out and soon. There was no telling what could happen otherwise and then it came to him, his nose catching a scent in the rain, stronger than the earth itself. Death. The smell of death was in the air, his ears moving around for sounds that would lead him to the demon who smelled of death. Of graveyard soil.
Just passing close to the village were two shadows, one a female now struggling a little with her bonds as her energy dropped and the demon that was carrying her, his stride calm and collected. Her mouth was even covered so that she could make no loud noises, not that the demon was worried about that. He didn't just help raise the dead. He created the dead. He was a demon after all and one on a mission that he would not allow to be interrupted. Not by outsiders and not by the fact that the woman would have used up all her energy. She needed to stay as two or she needed to keep her anger flowing. The stronger it was when he brought her to the ogress the better it would work for her to be moved from her current body, tho the human girl that she was occupying would also find her death was inconsequential.
"Ah, you were right not to trust me, but at the same time you, young Miko from fifty years ago, will have your revenge." He chuckled at the catch that she nor the ogress were aware of. They should not have taken the deal, tho he knew his master would have still gotten what he wanted. He always did...well, save for that one time, but that was not going to be the case this time. "We should hurry as those clouds don't look particularly happy." As he passed the area far on the hill of the village, directly across from where the hut was the storm broke and he broke into a run.
Now, what does he mean? Kagome asked, worried. She felt that the other woman was growing tired and she had been sure she could regain her control, but she found herself thrust back under when the anger from the Miko seemed to power her right back up. What is he planning? She had been sure he had something about a body for the dead Miko, but Kagome was sure as shit he had lied. She hadn't wanted to go with him, but she couldn't seem to regain her control over her own body for long. She could feel the power from the other woman's soul and was surprised at the small orb of light could contain all that power.
Don't be stupid girl! She stopped thinking, blanking her mind as much as she could, but it was too late as her thought continued. I will kill him too. Another abomination! Kagome didn't like the demon any better than Kikyo did at this moment but she was growing tired of the constant belittling of a race based on the actions of only a few that she had seen. I mean, she had only met two demons, well one and a half. Neither had been terrible, save for in the beginning, and now they were a...what were they? Shippo liked her, tho he was also a child and had just lost his father and clan. Inuyasha may not see her as more than a shard detector but he didn't treat her too badly, helping her without being asked.
You need to shut your fucking mouth, with all do respect, Miko. She almost seemed to make the word Miko sound like a curse word, spitting it out like it was vulgar. Not even your sister feels that way!
"How about I tell you a little secret, Miko," the demon suggested, grabbing both female's attention, Kikyo's eyes narrowing. "More of a riddle I guess." He chuckled, the darkness of his tone making both girls shiver in unison. He was so malicious and yet you could almost sense his disinterest in the words he spoke. He was cold to the world and that was the most dangerous kind of creature, human or demon. He could die with the world and he would still make that decision to end it all without a blink of his eyes. "You can kill me," he stated in almost a whisper. "But I will never die." There was a silence that desended on them, the storm just a dull sound in her ears, his eyes glowing with such malice and with such restraint that Kikyo found that she was truly frightened, tho her face didn't betray it, keeping her eyes on the demon's serious, deadly expression. She blinked and found that the demon was smiling now. "Ah, we're just a few more hours from her." And the storm grew louder, almost startling Kikyo with its sudden intensity.
God, I hope you can find me. Inuyasha, please.
Hmmm... What to do now? I hope you enjoyed the chapter. :)
