When the commotion at the hospital had settled, the doctors had called the Possible family and started to look after the young woman.

When Anne possible had picked up the phone, one of her colleagues at the hospital had informed her that her daughter had woken up. It didn't take long for the entire family to rush to the hospital. The doctors took a few hours to run some tests, concerned about the teen hero's health.

She seemed to have recovered without any lasting mental consequences. However, months of lying in a hospital bed with only a nurse moving your body would have physical consequences, especially on someone as active as Kim Possible used to be.

She could barely walk, let alone, jump, vault or fight. The doctor said something about the loss of muscle mass. Kim barely listened to him or the nurses saying how lucky she had been to wake up from this kind of condition.

"It wasn't luck!" She wanted to shout, she wanted them to stop, she wanted to be alone. Her mother had picked up Rufus from the ground and put him inside the small desk in her office.

The rest of the day had been a blur, the doctors kept talking about her miracle recovery, her family, even the tweebs, had stayed by her side the entire time listening to everything they were saying about complete physical recovery.

It was then decided Kim would stay in the hospital until she made enough progress with her rehab to go back to school and live a normal life.

The whole situation felt like an out of the body experience. She barely listened to any of it, her mind only thinking about one thing.

Rufus was dead and someone would have to tell Ron about it.

For years the naked mole rat had been a loyal friend, a helpful companion and a smiling presence in their life. He'd been there with them through everything, the missions, the drama, the good and the bad. And now he was dead.

She was back in her room after what felt like hours, her mother had decided to stay in the hospital with her for the rest of the day. While her mother was outside, talking with her colleague about Kim's condition, exhaustion hit her like a bullet train and she was asleep by the time they came back.

Ann watched her daughter sleep peacefully and sat by her side, squeezing her hand. This time she would be there for her. She wouldn't let anybody hurt her again. She smiled and left the room, leaving for the night.

The wait for the flight home had been more than pleasant. The flight had been filled with silence, only the snores of the two exhausted heroes could be heard in the back of the cargo that brought them back to Middleton.

As the plane approached the city the pilot woke them up, it's only then that they took a moment to watch their communicating devices.

47 missed calls from Wade.

Ronald instantly called back, his eyes filled with questions. Wade wasn't usually someone so emotional, for him to have called 47 times meant something huge had happened while they were away. The tech genius picked up almost instantly when he called back.

"Wade? What happened back..." Ronald started before being interrupted by the young genius "She woke up!" He shouted "Kim woke up!"

It had felt like a dream

A funeral for a naked mole rat.

In any other situation it would have been comical, however in this situation nobody here was even thinking about trying to laugh it off.

Ron's family hadn't been here, still on their trip. However, Kim and her family had managed to attend. Felix had insisted to come in order to support his friend, so had Monique to accompany Kim. Shego had been there too, a few steps behind the others.

She had watched as Kim had needed a wheelchair in order to come and had to admit it felt weird to see the young woman needing something like that.

Ever since the first time she had clashed with the teen, her feelings had evolved from anger at being bested to frustration at the rapid evolution of the teen hero's talents to downright admiration at how she had managed to become everything Team Go had ever wanted to be despite her having no superpowers.

As she watched the girl, she kept wrestling with her feelings. Sure, she was glad Kim had finally managed to come back, however she couldn't shake the sense of dread which had taken hold of her. What was going to happen to her now? What if they didn't need her to keep participating during missions? She had to admit, it felt good to be a hero again. But most importantly : What if Ron chose Kim over her now that she was back?

She knew most of these fears were irrationals. Kim was the one who had vouched for her and had made use of her influence to protect her from Global Justice and give her a second chance, so there was no reason to think she would stoop so low after.

"Well, this might change once she learns about you and Ron." Said a sarcastic voice in her head. She did her best to push those thought at the back of her mind. Kim and Ron had just lost someone very important to them, she would give them the time to recover from this before hitting Kim with the other news. This was normal, she needed time and space to recover after all.

This was definitely not her running away from the discussion, not at all.

Away from Shego, Kim was lost in her own thoughts, she hadn't had the time to talk to Ron and was fearing the moment she would talk to him about what had happened. She kept seeing it every time she tried to sleep, the naked mole rat looking at her before finally closing his eyes forever.

It was her fault. How could she even talk to Ron after this? They were already on shaky ground after the whole Diablo incident and now this…

What if he got angry? What if he blamed her for it?

What if he didn't want anything to do with her after this?

She knew she had to tell him, but not now. He needed a few days to recover, then she would tell him. And would face whatever punishment she deserved from him.

She snapped out of her self-pity party and focused on the speech Ron was giving.

Ronald didn't understand how this happened.

After their fight with Monkey Fist, he had received the call from Wade telling him Kim had finally woken up. This was good news, no, great news. She was back, his best friend was finally back, and not in danger anymore, after weeks between life and death, wondering whether she would wake up or not she had managed to overcome the odds yet another time.

He had been downright giddy during the ride back. Sure, he and Kim had experienced a few hiccups regarding their friendship after the whole Diablo incident but it was long overdue they put those problems behind and start taking the steps toward again becoming the friends they used to be.

And if he had his word to say, maybe a bit more than that.

However, the moment he had stepped out of that plane, he had been met with one of the most shocking sight of his life.

Wade. In person. Not a hologram or a robot, just plain old Wade. Who looked like he had seen a ghost. Ronald didn't even have the time to ask him what he was doing here before the kid dropped the news on him.

Then everything seemed to crash down upon him.

Dead? Rufus was dead? That wasn't possible, the little guy had survived villains, explosions, lasers and everything that had been thrown at him only to be found dead at a hospital?

Even after the… difficulties he had with the rodent he couldn't help but feeling even a twinge of sadness tugging at his heartstrings. The naked mole rat had been part of his life for several years now and even after what had happened, he had still hoped the little guy would come to his senses.

Maybe having a funeral for him was a bit over the top, after all when all was said and done, he was a rodent. An amazing rodent but still a rodent. However, he knew that was what he had to do in order to keep up the act.

As he was delivering his speech, he couldn't help but have a look at them.

The two women he desired above all else. Both strong, both amazing, both the pinnacle of what mankind had to offer in beauty, brains, and brawn.

First there was his girlfriend, Shego. He knew her body like the back of his hand now and couldn't get enough of it. Her strength was feared by everyone, her powers had allowed her to become one of the most respected hero of the entire world, then when this didn't satisfy her, one of its most feared villains. Not to mention, when given the occasion she had proven she had to brains to match those as the time travel incident from last year had demonstrated it. It's not often one manages to become the supreme ruler of earth, even if it was due to a time paradox.

Then there was Kim, who needed no introduction. His first, and for a long time, only friend, Teen hero since she was in middle school, captain of the cheer squad, complete hottie, straight A student scouted by multiple top-class universities. Even though she didn't match Shego in the chest department, she surpassed her in other, lower areas. While he never took part in the discussion regarding the best attributes of every girl at school, he knew there was one point that suffered no discussion : No girl had a better bottom half than Kim. It was not even close. The legs, the curve of her bottom, everything was perfect.

Of course, now she needed time to regain all of that but he had no doubt she would. She was "The Girl Who Could Do Anything" after all.

He smiled discreetly. He would make them his. Both of them. Whatever it would take.
