A week later found Alex and her team relaxing at the guild. "What do you want to do?" Sorano asked, bored.
"We could go on a job," Macbeth suggested, leaning on his arms. He wasn't as tired as he was before since he could get sleep regularly.
Alex nodded her head. "We could go on a job. I can go grab an S-Class quest if that's what you all want," She offered. When the others nodded in agreement, she stood up and walked over to where Wendy was. She smiled. "Having a hard time picking your first job?" She asked.
Wendy smiled. "Yeah. It's been a week since I joined, and I want to get started right away."
Alex smiled and patted her head. "Don't worry. I know you'll do a great job." She walked up the stairs and looked at the jobs. She found one that seemed interesting. Our people are disappearing. Please help. Reward: seven million jewels and a strange key. Alex grinned. "Perfect!" She ran down the stairs and up to Mira. "My team is going to take this job. We'll be back in a week, alright?"
Mira smiled and nodded. "Alright. We'll see you soon."
Alex nodded and walked over to her group. "Let's go pack. We're going to Jasmine Town to take care of some Monsters."
Macbeth yawned. "Better than hanging out around here" He and the others stood up and followed her out the door.
Once they packed, the seven of them got tickets for the train. "So, what kind of monster are we fighting?" Sorano asked once they sat down.
Alex handed her the flier. "Well, it sounds like it could be a group of Vulcan, but I'm not sure. What do you all think?"
Sawyer took the flier from Sorano. "I don't know. It could be, but I don't think I've ever heard of Vulcans being in large groups before."
"We should be able to find out more when we talk to the mayor," Jellal said, crossing his arms.
The ride was silent until they arrived in Jasmine Town. "Sorano, Erik, and Richard, why don't you all get us checked into the hotel while the rest of us talk to the mayor? We'll meet there and discuss what we learned over dinner." They nodded and split away from the group to go to the hotel.
"It's practically a ghost town around here," Sawyer commented as they walked around town.
"I wonder where everyone is," Macbeth added, looking around. The streets were dark and empty.
"Probably hiding," Alex said, looking concerned. "I doubt they want to be taken by whatever monster is around."
Alex led the group over to the mayor's house and knocked. "Hello?" She called. "We're the wizards from Fairy Tail you asked for."
A Young man opened the door. He appeared to be in his late twenties with dark purple hair and brown eyes. "Are you the mayor?" Alex asked, curious.
The man smiled. "You're looking for my father. He's in his study," He told them. "Follow me." He led them into the house. "My name is Marcus, and I manage the finances of this town. So when you finish your job, you'll come to me for your payment." He opened a door. "Dad, the wizards from Fairy Tail are here."
Alex walked inside to find a short, heavyset man who appeared to be in his forties. He smiled at the small group. "Thank you for coming so quickly," He told them, standing up. "Our people have been missing for quite some time, and everyone is anxious."
"Where is everyone?" Jellal asked. "Usually, there would be more people out. At least some children running around."
"I had to issue a curfew," The mayor said, depressed. "It's when the sun goes down that I have the most people disappear. I couldn't let anyone else get taken."
"Don't worry," Alex smiled. "We'll take care of the monsters quickly so your town will be safe again. What can you tell us about these monsters?"
The mayor sighed. "The best guess any of us has is it could be a pack of Vulcan. But we've never had any problems with Vulcan before. They may be hiding in the woods."
Jellal nodded and stood up. "Thank you for the information. We should join the rest of our team and get some rest. We'll start looking in the morning."
Alex stood up and shook hands with the mayor. "Yeah, we should get back. Thank you for your time." She led her group outside. "I think I saw the hotel on our way here. Let's meet the others and get dinner."
They met the rest of the group and ordered some room service as all the restaurants were closed. "So, what do you think it is?" Sorano asked, taking a bite of some fish.
"It sounds like a bunch of Vulcan," Alex confirmed. "It shouldn't take nearly as long as I thought it would." She crossed her arms. "We'll leave for the forest in the morning and locate their lair. Then half of us will take down the Vulcan, and the other half should free those who haven't been taken over yet. Erik, you'll hear the captured people's thoughts, so you should locate them quickly. Sorano, you and Sawyer will go with him. The rest of you can come with me."
They all finished their meal and went to their rooms. Alex and Sorano were staying in a room together. Erik, Jellal, and Macbeth stayed in a room, while Richard and Sawyer took the third one.
Alex sighed and laid in bed. She was ready to get some sleep. Her communications lacrima lit up as she was receiving a call. Groaning, she stood up and walked outside the room. "What's up?" She asked when she saw it was Lucy.
"Gray's gone crazy!" She said urgently. "He betrayed Natsu to some crazy lady who's using him to power the lacrima in an artificial dragon. We need help!"
Alex tilted her head slightly. "Is that right?" She asked. She closed her eyes and hummed. "You all won't need my help for this," Alex assured her. She grinned. "Make Natsu mad enough, and he'll destroy it himself. Gray didn't betray anyone. He's helping Natsu keep a promise." She opened her eyes to see Lucy look a little relieved. "I'd offer to speak more, but you have a dragon to annoy, and I have monsters to fight in the morning. I'll talk to you later, okay?" Lucy nodded and hung up. When she hung up, the lacrima went dark. Alex yawned. "Time for me to get some sleep."
The next morning, Alex met her team outside of the hotel. She was wearing a purple t-shirt, a pair of black jeans, and black hiking boots. Her hair was up in a high ponytail. They went to a restaurant to eat breakfast and went out into the woods to look for the Vulcans.
"Be alert," Erik spoke up. "
Alex nodded. "You all know what to do. Erik, you're team head out and find the people. Be careful." Erik nodded and took off. Sorano and Sawyer quickly followed. "The rest of you follow me. We're going to make as much noise as we can to keep the Vulcan away from them."
Jellal, Richard, and Macbeth nodded and continued walking through the woods, making sure to make as much noise as possible as they walked. Alex stopped walking and tilted her head. "Found them," She said calmly.
The others stopped behind her and looked around. "Are you sure?" Richard asked. "I can't see anything."
Alex nodded and turned to her right. "They'll be here soon." She called thunder clouds to her. "Be ready." She turned into lightning just as a Vulcan crashed through the trees and landed behind it. "Let the townsfolk go! Thor's Hammer!" She formed her purple hammer and hit it in the side. There were seventeen Vulcan all together, and it took the four of them an hour to take them all down.
Alex smiled and dragged two of the newly released townsfolk over to a tree. "Good job, guys. Now we need a way to take all these people home."
"Got room for six more?" Erik asked. He was carrying three people while Sawyer carried two, and Sorano carried one.
Alex rested her hands on her hips. "Great! Now how are we going to take them all back?"
In the end, Macbeth used his magic to form a sled out of a large boulder, and they all pulled it back to the town.
"I wasn't expecting our first official job to involve so much manual labor," Sorano complained. "Next time we go on a job, can we make sure it's something easy?"
"You mean boring," Sawyer scoffed. "Next time, I get to fight the monsters."
Alex chuckled while the two bickered. "There are plenty of jobs to choose from," She promised the two.
When they made it back into town, the mayor was waiting for them with the rest of the town. "You found them!" He cheered. "Thank you, Fairy Tail."
"We need to get these people to the hospital," Jellal said. "But they should be fine."
A boy around eight years old ran up to Sorano and hugged her, startling her. "Thanks for finding my dad," He said, pointing over to a still unconscious man. "He's been gone for a week now."
Sorano smiled. "You're welcome." She turned to Alex. "Maybe this job wasn't so bad."
Alex laughed and nodded. They took the lost townsfolk to the hospital and went back to the mayor's house to collect the reward.
Marcus grinned. "Thanks again for helping our town. Here's the money we promised," He handed over the jewels. "And here's the key." It was a platinum-colored key with a bright red planet on the handle. "We're not sure what it does, but we hope you'll find some use for it."
Alex thanked the man, and they started walking to the train station. She looked at the key once they sat down. "I'm not sure what kind of key this is. Sorano, what do you think?"
Sorano looked at the key and gasped. "It's one of the planetary keys." She grabbed hold of it. "There's only eleven of these, so they're even rarer than the Celestial ones Lucy uses."
Alex tilted her head. "Which one is this one?"
"It looks like Mars," Sorano said, looking at the key. "It's named after the Roman God of War, so it's pretty powerful."
"Remember to take care of the Spirit," Alex warned. "You'll find they'll work with you better, and they'll never fail you."
Sorano nodded. "I'll never hurt my Spirits again," She promised.
When they made it back to Magnolia, Alex yawned. "Let's go tell the Master we're back. I'm ready to get some sleep."
Macbeth nodded. "Agreed." They walked into town and noticed the wreckage. "What happened here? Macbeth wondered.
"Oh, that must be from when Natsu was in a fake dragon," Alex said calmly. The others looked at her in surprise. "Lucy called last night and told me what was happening."
"So that's what you were called about," Sorano said. Alex nodded. "There's never a normal day with Fairy Tail, is there?"
Alex laughed. "You'll get used to it eventually."
"You're early," Mira Jane said when they entered the guildhall. "Was the job easier than you thought it would be?"
Alex nodded and grabbed the mango milkshake Mira made for her. "Yeah, I didn't take into account there were seven of us, so the job didn't take nearly as long as I expected." She looked around. "It looks like you all had fun."
Mira smiled and told her about what happened with Gray, Natsu, and a dragonoid. When she finished, Alex paid for her milkshake and stood up. "I'm going to call it a day, Mira. We'll see you tomorrow."
Alex and her housemates went home. "Have a good night, everyone." She went to her room and called Laxus. "Hey, Sparkles. We just got back from a job, and I wanted to make sure you were alright."
"I'm fine," Laxus grunted. "I should be asking you that. Have the nightmares gone away? And how is the former dark guild treating you?"
"My nightmares are almost gone," Alex smiled. "And talking about them makes them easier to deal with. And my housemates fit in with Fairy Tail quite nicely," She added. "You'd think they belong there."
"That doesn't give me much confidence in them," Laxus admitted thinking about the guild members. "Fairy Tail isn't the safest guild in the world, you know."
"But it is the most exciting," Alex laughed. She yawned. "I'm going to bed. Goodnight, Sparkles. I'll talk to you later." She hung up and went to bed.
Hey everyone! So I learned an important thing. Making completely original chapters is hard! So if I'm giving you a chapter that is one-hundred percent original, it may take a little longer than a normal chapter. I hope you enjoyed this, and I'll try to do some more original chapters, though I can't promise when that'll happen. Thanks again and I'll see you next time!
