Hello! Ok so first things first don't panic. The fic isn't being abandoned or put on hiatus. I'm literally uploading the next chapter right after I load this one.
But I wanted to make a separate author note because I really want you guys to read this.
First, sorry for disappearing for the umpteenth time. Life gets in the way sometimes as you all know. I'm actually living abroad right now as a teacher and the country I'm living in is doing very well handling Covid-19. So we've had our students back since around the time of the last chapter being posted. It's been an adjustment going from online classes to having the students back and all the changes we've had to make to keep them and us safe. But we're managing.
Aside from that, there's been the worry about everyone I care about back home in the states, stress over other aspects of my job, general stress of being an expat, etc. I was supposed to be going home this month to visit everyone before coming back abroad but that's out the window. Covid-19 is still prevalent there and I can't afford to take the risk. So homesickness has set in pretty hard.
And on a lighter note this is also late because I fell into reading the Supercorp fandom HARD. Like….WOW.
Anyway, we are nearing the end here. I think after this note I'm only 2, max 3 chapters away from the end. It's weird to think how close I am considering I started this fix four years ago (which…wow…that long?!).
Thank you everyone for the comments, favorites, follows, kudos, so far. It's been a big help. Also, yes you're right I made a mistake in the last chapter by having Korra mention Toph too early to Asami but I'm rolling with it.
The rest of the fic has been difficult to write because more so than ever I'm having to be extra careful to maintain a balance. I have to try make sure my background scenes fit into the tone of what is happening around that time in the show. It's an interesting challenge but one I hope I'm managing well.
Fair warning on the upcoming chapter, it gets heavy. Real heavy but it needs to happen. Be prepared and trigger warning about mentions of suicide to those that need it.
