Chapter 25: LUNA A cannon goes off. Violet Parr. After the extreme wave of grief for Violet, then the excitement of being in the finals (I might actually go home!) both die down, I realize that I have to do something. No more sitting around, waiting for other people to inflict harm on each other. There is no one here but me and Mary P. Then, I think about how I can find her. Then, I realize that that was a stupid thought because I won't have to find her - she'll find me. As soon as that thought comes into my head, I hear a spine chilling voice from afar: "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, even though that happening is something quite atrocious, if you say Luna wins the games you'll always sound vacuous, supercalifragilisticexpialidociousssssssssss!" I don't know if I should be alarmed or honored that Mary changed the song for me. I'll go with feeling honored. I'll have time to be frightened when she kills me. How far away is she? I wonder. I try to measure out the distance based on her voice. Do I have time to run? Should I even run? Thinking that if I run, she'll find me again anyway, I choose to stay and take my chances. Moments later, I hear a breath come from directly behind. I quickly turn towards the noise on impulse, and there she is. From her clear blue eyes to her odd high-heeled feet, and even her parrot umbrella (how did she manage that?), she is here in flesh, bones, and blood. Emphasis on blood. "Well, hello there." She says, as if starting a perfectly normal conversation. I stand, motionless. "Did you hear my song? I wrote it specifically for you," she continues, in mock excitement. "Yes, I heard it," I respond finally, dead serious, "and thank you. I am really touched." That clearly was not the response she was expecting, but she recovers quickly. "Well, now that we have covered small talk, let's move on to more important things. How shall I kill you, hmm?" She asks this with such dedication that I am unsettled. Wow, she is creepy. "Actually, if you wouldn't mind, I would rather not be killed today. You see, I am younger than you, so it would be the courteous thing to do to kill yourself so I could go home faster." Mary looks as though she thinks I am joking, and I think she is enjoying this. "As it happens, I am quite serious," I continue, as if I hadn't noticed anything, "I really would love to see my family and friends again in this lifetime." "However, if you choose the immoral path, I will join my Ma sooner." I add, as an afterthought. "I see that you've thought this through quite a lot. How about I make it easier for you? Goodbye." Mary raises a throwing knife that I didn't know she was holding. As she aims for my throat, I reach up to grab the handle - and I get a hold of it! Suddenly, the knife pierces my right arm, the flesh opening up and blood sprouting out. "Ah," I take my hands off the knife to clutch my hand. It burns like mad. She brandishes the knife, waving it above me a couple of times, while lastly, the blade whizzes through the air with a swoosh, and coming down...
