Hey y'all! I know it's not a regular posting day for me, but I forgot to yesterday, and well... I want to get this finished because there is TWO chapters left, including this one. Which means a week from Thursday, I will be publishing Into Darkness, the sequel to this! I am SUPER excited, because that is when things really pick up for this story. Like, REALLY pick up. Anyways:
SomeStormLeaf- They would be such a power couple, I agree... and uh, he can jump into a lake full of sharks... thank you! And maybe... but only time will tell...
Anyways, on with the chapter!
Redshadow lay in his nest, but he couldn't sleep. Ugh. Why does Firefall have to be so confusing? I can't tell what the heck she's trying to tell me? I'm just not good at recognizing feelings… but I know one thing for sure, that I like her. I mean, she said that she didn't want to find a mate… there has to be something I'm missing!
"Hey." Goldensight poked him. "I can tell you're still awake, so tell me what's bothering you."
"Why are you still awake?" Redshadow asked.
"Eh. I can't sleep sometimes. What's bothering you?"
"Well…" Redshadow explained what had happened at the Gathering.
"Huh." Goldensight shrugged. "I'm not exactly a 'feelings' kind of cat, and I obviously don't interact with others a ton. But what I got from that is maybe she's just as confused as you."
Yeah… that's a good point. Ugh, if only I knew what was going on with her!
"There has to be another element that's missing. I think that you kind of just have to wait and see. From what I can tell, you guys kind of act equally awkward around each other, so that could mean two things, going off the information that we have." Goldensight paused. "Either, she likes you, but is being shy about it and just hasn't told you, or she doesn't like you, and doesn't exactly have the heart to tell you that. She might be 'trying to let you down gently', or she just is awkward, like you. You're a hopeless mess around her."
"Shut up." Redshadow shoved Goldensight playfully. "I bet you would be the same."
"Eh." Goldensight shrugged. "There are no cats here who are mildly interesting or in any way attractive."
"Woah then, ok." Redshadow laughed. "You certainly have your opinions."
"Yeah." Goldensight continued. "But, you could lose your chance if you're too straightforward about it. If you're not sure yet, the best thing to do, in my opinion, is to wait and see. I guess it's kind of up to her."
Yeah… but what if she doesn't like me? What will… I don't want to think about that.
"Thanks, Goldensight."
"Yeah, no problem." Goldensight padded back toward his nest. "I always give advice to those who deserve it."
"Am I WORTHY of your advice, O' great one?" Redshadow mocked.
"Barely." Goldensight lay back down, and Redshadow could tell that in a couple minutes he was back asleep. Moonlight filtered in through the reed walls of the den, giving the den an eerie glow.
Everything will be fine. I'll do what I have to to make everything work the way it needs to.
Someone give Redshadow a hug please
Alrighty, well, please let me know what you think! Reviews are always appreciated, and stay safe!
