"Haan toh main keh raha tha..." Abhijeet stopped in his trance as he reached near the big glass window of Bureau while talking to Purvi about a case. His eyes had caught something worth enough to take his mind elsewhere for a while.File in his hand he looked outside through the glass barrier in front of him. His looked down at the Bureau parking lot. There, he spotted the delicate figure of her unlocking the door of her car. She was having trouble to unlock it. Tired like hell and exhausted with the work in lab it was getting on her nerve when the lock chose to mock her, he could tell.
He glanced the clock on the wall. Sure he knew its late yet he wanted to note the exact time on his mind. It was 11.30 pm at night. He sighed. His work wasn't done yet otherwise he would give her a ride back home.
He shifted his attention on her again and found her getting inside the car. Though it was nearly impossible to see her face through the glass from that far he knew she must had been cursing her car in irritation. He chuckled. Taking out his phone from his pocket he sent her a text.
'Reach home safe.'
Purvi was waiting patiently for his senior to complete the instruction. It wasn't usual for Senior Inspector Abhijeet to zone off in between work. And Purvi had always been the patient one. But he showed no sign of coming back to the instruction even after he pocketed his phone. He was still thinking something. So, she decided to call him.
'Sir..."
Abhijeet's trance broke. He looked at her and then outside the glass once more. She was gone. Looking outside he composed himself back to his work mode.
"Is manav ki Sister Anya, uska call record nikalo." Abhijeet instructed without looking at Purvi and gave her the file.
"Ji sir." Purvi took the file and left, confused with his senior's sudden coldness. Sudden but not rare. Purvi shook her head, chuckling. Brilliant peoples were a bit weird, she always believed.
Tarika lied down on bed after having a long shower after the hectic day. She thought to set an early alarm for next day and searched for her phone. She remembered not taking it out from her purse. Annoyed, she left her bed and fished out the phone from her purse.
''One new message!'' Talking to herself and unlocking the phone she sat on bed. "Abhijeet ka message." She smiled to herself unknowingly.
'Reach home safe.' She read the message. Taken aback by the type of message she checked the time and indeed it was sent while she was leaving the bureau compound.
She chuckled. So, he had been watching her leaving.
He could have called.
Umm.. must had been busy.
She read the message again and smiled broad. It was hard not to love this man. Though she knew this is the kind of thing all boyfriends do but not with the feelings he did. He was sure like hell that she wouldn't read the message before her going to the bed. Yet he decided to say 'Reach home safe' instead of 'Good night'.
It was more of his mind talking to himself which he conveyed through message. He could have called to let her know he wanted her to reach home safe. Instead he chose texting 'cause to him its always what he feels inside mattered, than what he speaks in words. May be he didn't even realize properly what he was texting. He just did.
Smiling like stupid over her own analysis Tarika lied on bed turning off the lights. The tiredness of the day started to wear off as she thought about him. She texted him back.
'Reached safe. Good night.'
Instead of laughing on his silly things she found it really cute. He's a blessing in her life.
