After Aro left the second time, once again, he didn't come back. I was left alone in a quiet room, and though I knew he was still in his study, unless he snuck out the main door and left, I had no desire to go in there. He was acting strangely, and it had me on edge more than usual. It wasn't something I really wanted to think about at the moment. Instead, I decided to go take a quick shower and try to go back to sleep. It was amazing how exhausted I felt even after sleeping for however long I had earlier.

The next morning, I was woken up by Chelsea, who practically dragged me out of bed. I protested, but against a strong vampire who could probably pull 10 times my weight, if not more, it was fruitless. Sighing, I finally opened my eyes as she pinned me down in a seated position with her hands on my shoulders. "We have to make you look perfect today."

"What for?" I asked, trying to hold back the groan in my voice, which would show my displeasure in the whole ordeal.

"What for?" Chelsea asked back as if she were surprised I didn't know. "Aro told you about tonight, didn't he?"

I perked up. Aro had mentioned it before he maniacally laughed and left me alone. Okay, so it wasn't maniacal. It had only left me confused, but when was I not with much of what he did. Speaking of being confused, what was Aro planning that required Chelsea to make me into another one of her dolls? "Yeah, but he didn't say what we were doing. He mentioned reparations or something and then that he wanted me to go with him somewhere."

Chelsea hummed as she went to the chair by the vanity to grab a garment bag that she brought over to the bed. "Reparations because you yelled at him yesterday?"

I sighed. "How many people did he tell? Caius seemed to know about it, too, and it's not like I meant it. It just happened."

"You're lucky, though. People don't usually get away with such things, especially not humans." Chelsea unzipped the garment bag to reveal a long, white dress. It reminded me of a ball gown, just less poofy. The part that got me the most was the delicate-looking pink, purple, and white flowers. The chest was sheer but modestly covered, but it was nothing of what I thought Aro would want me to wear. It was too pretty. "Speaking of which, he must think something of you to get you this."

Staring at the dress, I couldn't move. Why would he get me a dress, and what were we doing tonight that I would even need a dress for it? "Aro bought this?"

Chelsea held up the dress. "He did. Didn't he say that if you behaved while he was away that he might get you something?" She grabbed my wrist and forced me to stand before holding the dress up in front of me. "It is going to look perfect on you. Come on. Come over to the vanity, so I can do your makeup."

Chelsea left the dress resting on the bed and dragged me over to the chair where she had taken the dress from. After sitting down, she proceeded to open the large makeup bag that she had apparently brought in with her. She took out the bottle of foundation along with so many other things that I still wasn't sure about. My mother wasn't the type to teach me about makeup, so I had never gotten into it, and not having any friends at school, especially girls, it had never been a thing I talked about at sleepovers either. I was never invited to any anyway.

I had learned about mascara and lipstick at least, but the reasons I had weren't reasons that I wanted to recall. Chelsea began to apply the makeup to my face, and I sat still, breathing calmly as she did so. This was one of her favorite things to do to me besides dressing me up in new clothes that Aro had bought for me.

When she finally finished, I gazed at myself in the mirror, studying the look she had applied. My lips were a pale pink with a sky blue shadow over my eyelids, and my cheeks held a light blush with a highlight on the bone. She had a way of actually making me look pretty, and in some ways, I hated it. I didn't want to be Aro's doll.

"Let's get you dressed, and then I'll do your hair." Chelsea stepped back, and I sighed as I followed her back over to the bed, where I let her help me put the dress on.

Once I was dressed, I asked, "Why so early? Aro said it wouldn't be until tonight."

"He's flying you to Paris."

I turned around quickly to face her. Aro was doing what? "Paris? Like in France?"

"No, Paris, Texas," Chelsea said with a roll of her eyes as she laughed. "Of course, Paris, France."

"Why Paris? What's in Paris?"

Chelsea shrugged. "Why don't you ask Aro yourself once I get done fixing your hair? He'll be back soon, and you can talk to him then."

Settling back down in the chair, Chelsea got to work on my hair. Just like she had styled it before, she braided my hair and pulled into a messy sort of bun. I heard the outside door open and close while she was doing so, and I knew it was for my benefit. Aro could easily enter his own study without making a sound, so the fact that he had meant that he wanted me to know he was back.

Chelsea backed away as she finished up and dismissed herself into the study, leaving me in the bedroom by myself. Either Aro would come into the room, or I would go into the study. He wasn't one to wait, so once I heard the outside door close, letting me know that Chelsea was gone, I took a deep breath and then opened the bedroom door into the study and walked in.

Aro turned to look at me and smiled. "I'm glad it fits you so well, little one. It looks wonderful on you." Aro glided over to me and took my hand in his. "I see Chelsea mentioned to you of my plans for tonight."

I nodded. "Kind of. She only said that you wanted to take me to Paris, but she didn't say for what."

"Ah. Yes. Then it will still be a surprise." Aro released my hand and went over to his desk to grab an envelope. I examined more closely what he was wearing, and although he still had on his usual suit, this one was more formal like he was heading to a dinner party or something. The fact that he was a vampire wasn't escaped on me, and my mind immediately went to thinking about what a dinner party would look like for a vampire. A feast of humans, perhaps? That would be awful.

Aro came back over to me and held out his hand for me to take this time. I placed mine in his, and he must have seen my last thought because he chuckled as he led me toward the door. "We should be going. We have a short flight and then a long evening ahead of us once we arrive."

A flight with Aro and Paris. I wasn't sure how tonight was going to go, and my heart wouldn't stop racing as my mind took many different routes on how this night could end. Sighing, I let him take me from his rooms, trying to keep myself as calm as possible.
