Part Twenty Eight
The next morning Hyde enters the hospital room, to find Jackie sat in the bed holding Amber in her arms,
"Look its daddy! Hey baby" Hyde kisses her before stroking Amber's cheek smiling at both of them,
"Hey how are my girls today?"
"Great. The doctor says that I'm good to come home. I missed you last night "
"Me too doll. Do you want me to take her?"
"Of course sorry here you go" Steven holds her carefully afraid of dropping her as he took in her beauty , she had blue eyes that melts your heart. Jackie slowly gets off the bed and pulls out clothes from her bag,
"I'm going to change. Can you put this on Amber for me please?"
"Uh sure...uh maybe ill get a nurse I don't want to hurt her"
"Babe your a natural relax. Believe in yourself like I do" Steven smiles gently placing Amber down in the little cot,
"I won't be long!" Hyde finds a nurse and returns to the room followed by a nurse.
Kitty puts banners up and was happily humming along to the radio,
"Uh Kitty not that this is not nice but don't you think that you have gone to far!" Kitty frowns over at red ,
"Oh excuse me red for welcoming our first grandchild home! Now quit moaning and help the others blow up balloons!" Red sighs joining the others in the kitchen,
"Let me guess mom made you help us!"
"Shut up dumbass!"
"Right hoe dad!"
Jackie carries amber in the baby carrier as they make their way into the foreman's house,
"Welcome home!"
"Shh she's sleeping! Thank you guys"
"Kitty gently takes the carrier off of Jackie,
"Isn't she a little angel. I will put her upstairs we have that crib put in our room"
"Aww thats so sweet!"
"Anything for my grand baby " Kitty heads upstairs as Jackie sits down wincing slightly,
"Oh she really is beautiful. Reminds me of my donna" Bob says getting teary making Donna wrap a arm around him,
"She is cute clearly take after Jackie. Though she not got double good-looking genes like betsy does!"
"Excuse me Steven is good looking . He's rugged!" Jackie says defensively,
"Yeah besides Amber will be good-looking and smart. Whereas if poor betsy takes after you then she will be a dumbass!" Jackie smiles impressed and high fives Steven.
That afternoon Steven takes Jackie and Amber home driving slowly and carefully,
"Its so nice to be home and out the hospital!"
"Yeah I missed my girls...look last night when I came home my mom was in the kitchen..."
"Oh Steven. Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"I did not want to spoil everything. Well she wasn't there long i kicked her out "
"How you feeling?"
"You know. Look it doesn't matter. Not anymore. I have you and Amber and your what matters " Jackie takes his hand,
"Steven I will never leave you or hurt you like they have. I love you beyond words and it pains me how they hurt you" Steven strokes her hair before turning into their driveway,
"Home sweet home!" Jackie took Amber carefully out the car seat while Steven took the bags out the boot both entering the house,
"Here Amber this is your home angel. Let's show you your beautiful bedroom that your wonderful daddy worked on" Jackie heads upstairs as Steven places the bags down and sits himself down onto the couch ,
"She went out like a light!" Jackie says sitting down beside him and resting her head onto his shoulder,
"You need anything doll?"
"I am hungry...I was going to take a quick shower "
"You do that and I'll get us some food "
"Okay sounds good. I'll take the monitor up with me then" Jackie kisses hyde before heading upstairs as Steven grabs his car keys and heads out to the hub.
Steven enters the house to find Jackie passed out on the couch , baby monitor clutched in her hand. Hyde heads over to her placing the bag of food onto the table before kneeling beside her,
"Jackie " he lightly rubs her arm making her bolt upright,
"Oh Steven your back! I thought it was the baby"
"Wow you are tired!"
"Shut up you! So what you get from the hub?"
"Cheeseburger and fries" Jackie smiles happily,
"Oh so good!" Steven smirks lightly watching her stuff fries into her mouth,
"So how was your shower?"
"So good. I feel much better now. Just hoping I don't let her down I mean she's so...fragile" Jackie wipes the tears from her eyes making Steven wrap his arm around her,
"You thinking about your mom?"
"I know that I shouldn't. But I can't help it. I look at little Amber and my heart is bursting so hard I feel like it will come out my chest...the thought of leaving her its ..."
"Unimaginable " Steven finishes her sentence,
"It's okay to miss them. They are your parents. But I don't want you to ever think it's your fault okay Jackie because well for years I hated and blamed myself"
"Steven you have turned everything around baby. Not anyone else but you. Your a fantastic person and I am so honoured that you choose to spend your life with me " Steven kisses her gently before they continue to eat.
That evening Jackie was fast asleep while Steven lay beside her in bed watching telly when the baby started crying,
"I'll get it doll you go back to sleep" Steven says noticing Jackie stir awake, Steven enters the babies room and gently picks up Amber,
"Okay angel daddy is here " he rocks her closely and begins to lightly hum a song to her, unaware that Jackie could hear her from the monitor a smile on her face.
