Derek walked back into house... alone.

"Where's Emily?" Garcia asked.

"She said she had to make a phone call but that she'd be in in a few minutes," Derek responded and took his seat back at the table.

Five minutes later, JJ came back down the stairs.

"Sophia's passed out. She cried herself to sleep again. Where's Em?" the blonde wanted to know.

Just as she said that, Prentiss walked in.

"Okay, yeah. Thank you I'll see you soon... Bye," she said as she walked through the door and hung up the phone. She then sat back down at the table.

"I'm sorry for-"

JJ cut her off.

"You don't have to apologize. Sophia was in the wrong."

Emily nodded.

Then she looked to Derek and said,

"I cancelled my flight. I'm not going back to London."

He nodded and said,

"I'm glad you decided to stay,"

She shook her head and replied with,

"I'm not staying either."

"Wait, who was that on the phone?" Penelope asked.

Emily looked over at her friend and replied,

"Mark. He's going to pick me up tomorrow. I'm going to be staying with him in New York for a little bit. He has a place there so it's closer than London but I still think I need some space."

"Wait how did you meet him again?" Garcia asked.

"His best friend was my old friend's husband. They're all friends now. And my friend and her husband are divorced, but that's beside the point. We had mutual friends," Emily explained.

"Is it serious?" JJ wanted to know.

"I mean, we've met a few times before we started dating so I've known him for years. So it's not like this is a brand new things. We'd meet up every now and then to hang and catch up-"

"Oh you guys were a thing before this?" Garcia asked.

"No, not really," Emily said back.

"Have you guys slept together?" Garcia asked which made Reid nearly choke on his food.

"Penelope!" Emily gasped.

"Have you?" JJ chimed in.

Prentiss sighed and responded with,

"Like I said, we've hung out in the past briefly, but nothing like a committed relationship until now."

"Well, I can't wait to meet him," Penelope said.

"Oh great..." Prentiss replied.

The rest of the meal went smoothly. At the end, everyone went home except for Emily.

"Em, there's something I wanted to talk to you about," JJ said.

"What's up?" Emily asked.

"So, Will and I have had Sophia for about a year. And she has two strikes on her record with us. One more and she's out. It's not our rule. So, we thought she would go back into your custody, but-"

"She hates my guts," Prentiss interrupted.

JJ rolled her eyes.

"But it seems like that might take a while," the blonde said.

"What are you saying?" Emily wanted to know.

"We're thinking of officially adopting her," JJ stated.

"Um I don't know what to say... Congratulations?"

"We're just doing it to ensure she stays with us. When the time is right and when the opportunity presents itself, you are welcome to take her back and get full custody of her," JJ told her friend.

Emily smiled and said,

"Trust me, she's better off with you as a mom than me."

"That's not true. Shes just being stubborn and difficult right now and giving you the silent treatment because it's in her genes. She's literally you. You just need to give her some time and she'll eventually come around and realize how much she needs you," JJ said.

"Ugh, I guess you're right," Emily admitted. She looked down at her watch to check the time.

"I should get going," she said and got up.

"Will I see you tomorrow before you leave?" JJ asked as she walked the brunette to the door.

"Yeah, how about we grab some lunch before I go?" Emily offered s she reached the doorway.

"Ohh will I get to meet Mark?" JJ teased. Prentiss rolled her eyes.

"Goodnight," she called as she walked out to her car.

"Night," JJ said back and watched as she drove away.

2:30am...

There was a knock on Emily's hotel door. She didn't budge. Two minutes later, there's another knock. Then, her phone started to buzz. That's what woke her up. She heard the knocking this time and got up to get it.

"One sec," she called as she made her way to the door. She looked through he peephole and then instantly flung open the door.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

"Well, are you going to let me in? I've been driving for the past seven hours," Mark informed her.

She backed up and said,

"Yeah come on in."

He entered her room.

She took a seat on her bed and he hung up his coat and took his shoes off then joined her.

"I didn't think you were coming until the morning," she said.

"I wasn't. But I couldn't stop thinking about you and how you were here all alone and everything that's going on with Sophia," he said and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

She smiled and leaned in to kiss him.

"Thank you for coming. I really appreciate it," she told him.

"Plus, I couldn't just ignore the fact that you were here all alone in this hotel room," he added slyly with a little grin.

"I thought you said you were tired," she joked as he backed her up into bed.

"I believe all I said was that I've been driving for a long time," he said and leaned in to kiss her again.

Emily woke up to Mark's strong arms around her. She smiled as she remembered that he drove all night just to see her. He opened his eyes and pulled her in closer.

"How did you sleep?" he asked quietly.

"Better than I have in a long time," she whispered back.

He kissed her head and said,

"Me too, Em."

They laid all cuddle up for another couple of minute and then she reached over to check her phone.

"Shit," she stated.

"What?" He asked.

"It's almost eleven. I promise Garcia and JJ we'd get lunch at twelve."

"Well you better get going," he told her.

"I said we, Mark. That means both of us," she said and kissed him briefly before getting up.

He groaned.

"Can't we just stay in bed for the rest of the day before we have to be in the car for another seven hours?"

"No, get up," she said with a smile and got out of bed.

He stared at her perfect form and watched as she made her way to the bathroom.

"I'm taking a shower," she announced and slipped into the bathroom.

Not even a minute later, Mark joined her and by exactly twelve the couple was out the door and on their way to meet JJ and Garcia.

"Emily!" JJ exclaimed as she spotted her friend walk in the little cafe they agreed on meeting at.

"Mark," Garcia mumbled as she spotted he man her friend was holding hands with.

The couple approached them.

"Mark this is JJ and Penelope. Ladies, this is Mark... Mark Sloan," Emily said and put her hand on his back as if showing him off.

"It's nice to meet you," JJ said and shook his hand.

"Yes, it is very nice to meet you," Garcia said with a smile and handshake as well.

The group took a seat and began to look at the menu. After ordering, Emily asked,

"How was Sophia this morning?"

"She was okay I guess. Still a little upset over last night. I think she feels bad," JJ told her.

"Hmmm," Emily sighed and swirled her water around before taking a sip.

"Are you sure you want to leave without saying goodbye?" Mark asked.

"Yeah, I feel like it would just make her more upset," Prentiss responded.

"Or she could be pissed at the fact that you left her again without a proper goodbye," he said.

"Yeah, I agree with Mark," Garcia chimed in.

Prentiss just rolled her eyes.

"So, Emily said you were a doctor?" JJ said to change the subject.

"Yeah I'm a plastic surgeon," he answered with a smile.

"What is it that your interns called you?" Emily asked him with a smile.

"McSteamy," he answered.

"Your interns called you that?" JJ asked with a light laugh.

"I don't blame them," Garcia added.

"Yeah they called my best friend McDreamy and I was McSteamy," he told them.

"And how do you guys know each other exactly?" Penelope wanted to know.

The couple exchanged glances.

"We have mutual friends. I've known Emily for a while. We just reconnected though a few months ago while I was in London at a conference."

"How long were you there?" JJ asked.

"The conference was only a week or so, but ended up staying with Emily for a few months," he said.

"And then Garcia called me to come home so we flew back to the states together and would spend the weekend together sometimes. When I left the first time I went to stay with Mark for a week before returning to London actually," Emily admitted.

"Wow, so you've been together a while," Garcia said.

"Well, she's a catch, isn't she?" Mark joked and smiled at her.
