Chase and Randy had seen each other eight times in the last two months. She was picking him up at an airport in Missouri. They were going to Pam's for lunch then Chase was going home with Randy. She was waiting for him in the airport parking lot. He came out a few minutes later, put his bag in the back and got in the passenger seat.

"Hi honey." She said.

"Hi." They kissed. "I missed you."

"I missed you to."

"How was your flight?"

"Good."

"Ready to go?"

"Yeah." "Is Pam looking forward to us coming?"

"It's all she's been talking about for weeks every time we talk."

Pam's new house was fifteen minutes away from the house Chase grew up in. They'd just walked into the house.

"We're here." Chase said.

"I'm in the kitchen." Pam said. They went into the kitchen.

"Hi mom."

"Hi." They hugged. "Hi Randy."

"Hi Pam." Randy said. They hugged. "You look great."

"Thank you." "We're having chicken quesadillas."

After they ate Chase went to the bathroom leaving Pam and Randy alone.

"I haven't seen Chase this happy in years." Pam said. "I always hoped you two would run into each other again." "She hasn't had much luck in the boyfriend or husband department." "Has she told you about her ex-husband?"

"She mentioned what a big mistake it was." "She said it only lasted a year."

"Thirteen months." "I tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't listen." "The first time that bastard hit her, I wanted to kill him."

Randy was surprised to hear that but didn't let it show. "You don't have to worry about anything like that with me." "I'd never do anything to hurt her."

"I know you wouldn't."

After Chase and Randy left they were at his house in his garage. He uncovered his Harley.

"Ready to go for a ride?" Randy asked.

"Yeah." They got on the bike.

"Hold on really tight."

"Ok." She put her hands around his waist. He started the bike and they took off.

It was the beginning of October, so as they rode they saw all the different colors of the changing leaves. The sun was just starting to set. They stopped at a lake.

"Do you remember this place?" Randy asked.

"Isn't this the lake you took me to so we could mess around?"

"Yes."

"You called it our spot."

"It still is." He kissed her.

It was night time. Chase and Randy were laying down on the couch. She was on top of him. His arms were around her back.

"I had fun today." Chase said.

"Me to." "I liked seeing Pam today." "What do you think of my house?"

"I like it." "Why did you buy a house with so many bedrooms?" "Neither of my houses have seven bedrooms."

"Well when I bought this place, I thought I might meet someone and maybe eventually, we'd start a family."

"You want a family?"

"Someday." "What about you?"

"I'd love a family." "I want a big family." "I was pregnant once, when I was married."

"What happened?"

"My ex-husband Geoffrey wasn't a nice man." "He used to beat me up." "He hit me for the first time a week after we got married." "Three months after he threw me down the stairs, I couldn't breathe so I went to the hospital." "I found out that I was two months pregnant and because of him throwing me down the stairs, I had a miscarriage." "I've never told anyone about it until now." "I never even told Geoffrey I had a miscarriage."

"I'm so sorry Chase."

"It's ok." She looked at him. "Now I have a great guy and I've never been happier." She kissed him. "I love you so much."

"I love you too."
