The Lift would take at least a few hours to get to the Planetary Core.
So it wasn't that much of a surprise when Jupiter heard her stomach rumble.
Grey gave a gust of air from the breathing pores on their skin, sort of like a sign, and it tickled across Jupiter's face. Jupiter slipped away, reaching for the canvas bag full of snacks. She half dragged herself because of her cast, wiggling forward. Grey gave a trilling chirp, laughing at her. Jupiter looked over her shoulder and stuck out her tongue.
"Did you have your noon-time meal, youngling?" asked Grey, as Jupiter turned back to the bag of snacks.
"I skipped it to find the Lift… But I knew I would grab some food from the cafeteria before I found it… I stole money from my grandfather's wallet," she said, somewhat sheepishly as she grabbed a water bottle and a bag of chips.
"Do you steal as a rule?" their voice was amused, musically going higher in that amusement. The multitool she had stolen on their mind no doubt.
Jupiter felt her cheeks warm, she gave a shrug as she turned back to them. She scooted closer again, mindful of her cast, keeping it extended out. The majority of the snacks sat in her lap, while she cradled the first thing she had eaten in nearly five hours at this point.
"No. But I wasn't sure how long it would take me to find this alone… And I will be paying him back. I have money saved up, but it's in my room- I haven't had access to it in a while."
Grey tilted their head to the side, a curious gleam in their black eyes as she opened the bag of the barbeque flavored chips. Faintly, she wondered what Keepers ate. In Seraphi's memories, other than taking care of lowering the general food budget of all of her Holdings at large, she had paid no mind what anybody ate. Privileged, favored Splices maybe ate from the scraps of her usually an elaborate table, but otherwise... Jupiter did not know.
"Do you want anything?" She gestured to the bag, displaying the colorful wrappers inside of it.
"Do you have chocolate? I sneak it whenever possible, but I always have to be careful. Keepers are not supposed to indulge in any sort of bounty from the Planet."
Amused at their eager face, and slightly sad that Grey had to sneak something they liked, she tossed them one of the chocolate bars. They gave a happy trill, the sweetest sound that Jupiter had heard yet.
"Thank you."
"You are very welcome."
They ate in peaceful silence.
