Now that all the freakiness is out of the way, there shouldn't be much to write about left. It's been a fun run trying to get back onto writing, and writing this fanfiction has helped me get of writer's block when it comes to writing my own fiction.

It helped my brain survive and prevail through a series of events that would have probably made me more depressed, but to be honest, I'm away from all the negative people who only intend to bring me down for their entertainment. I'm very much used to having them around me by now, so the effect isn't really that bad. Secondly, I'm with people who are more career-driven than the toxic naysayer people who I used to work around will ever be.

I personally would like to thank this site for existing and allowing me to rebuild my thoughts and my brains for my future fiction-writing endeavors. Even though this is merely a fanfiction, I look forward to finishing it then continuing to my future works. Thank you everyone who has reviewed, viewed, and promoted my works by sharing the links to it.

By the looks of it, I want to finish this one before it bores everyone out.

Will be switching between POVs in this chapter given the genre.

Chapter Twenty-Three: Confrontation

Yuki:

Wednesday morning was supposed to be the middle of the week, but I awoke to the sound of fake booms from downtown Mahora. I immediately awoke and slipped into my superhero uniform in under two minutes before rushing out the cabin doors. Evangeline and Chachamaru were already awake, following me as I jumped up and flew into the sky. Evangeline already dressed for the action and Chachamaru in her flight suit.

As soon as I reached my flying altitude over the city, I could already see a series of buildings downtown in flames. A figure high above the city, hovering there using the same exact attacks that my adversary used when I was over there. People below were fleeing the city afoot. Some in their vehicles, but it was no use due to the amount of people already running on the ground.

My phone in the holster of my belt rung, but I turned it off as I continued to throttle towards the figure. A look of readiness on my face as I flew in to the rescue, accompanied by Evangeline and Chachamaru.

"I can't believe he managed to break you out of school grounds!" Chachamaru said. "He has learned so much in so little time!"

Surprise overcame me. That was what Professor Negi was working on? Evangeline's escape? I thought she would have spent several more middle and high school years beyond our graduation before he could pull it off!

"The boy is smart after all!" quipped the vampire. "Now I can assist Yuki wherever he goes!"

"The Mahora Knight!" I corrected her. "I shall be called The Mahora Knight!"

"So you plan on making it a permanent job?" Evangeline called out. "I wish you good luck!"

"Haruna's still going to be there!" I added. "She's been accepted into the university!"

"What about you?" Chachamaru asked. "Shouldn't you be in university?"

I took the entrance exam and passed. Submitted an application and got in, but I decided to make my future wife's future a priority. After all, she was deemed to be the next best author between this world and the magical world!

Couldn't really tell Evangeline that, but Chao already knew it.

And for Haruna, she was fully unaware of this situation. In the event my interference caused us to have children before she reached that time, I'd revert to part time or probably a class or two a semester to balance out my life with our family. That way I'd be there for my future kids, unlike the time my parents allowed me to be so independent and alone with Chieri.

As an adult now, I realized that I had so much more to live for than to be stuck with her. She was the only one on my mind because my parents never spent time with me. They were too immersed in their innovations and inventions, needing to impress the world every year with a new form of technology and to advance our universe to further heights. Earth 2512 compared to this Earth was way too technologically advanced.

I could only imagine what life would be like in the 2030's out here. Probably different than Earth 2512's 2030's if aliens don't rear their ugly heads in and try to take out the planet!

"Did you alert the rest of the class?" Evangeline asked.

Chachamaru tapped her helmet. "Yes Master. Satomi and Chao have been alerted. They should be alerting the rest of the class including Professor Negi at this time."

"Very well!" Evangeline said. "Yuki, you go first! We'll stay back and wait for the rest of the class! On second thought, we'll stay back and protect the fleeing persons! By now you should have the capability of stopping him yourself! NOW GO!"

We broke off and I throttled in as fast as I could. Faster than the speed of sound as a halo formed behind me. Right into the figure himself.

THUD!

It didn't really hurt anymore. I had taken so many hard blows and beatings over the years by Setsuna's wooden practice sword and Kaede's wooden practice swords. They used to chase me around with sticks at one point to train me not to feel any pain at even the slightest of attacks that would send any normal person down.

It was a technique Ku Fei came up with when I flew into a tree during one session. Hardly hurt after the second incident. Konoemon wasn't too pleased that we were damaging trees on school property though, so we took our training to Mana's hidden place.

Haruna:

No one asked a screaming Satomi and Chao to run up and down the hallways, banging pots and pans like the world was about to end!

"Damn it!" Yue said, squinting as she woke up. "What are they yelling about? It's early in the morning!"

"We have a good two hours before school!" Nodoka added, yawning. "Why?"

BOOM!

Yue immediately pulled open the curtains to reveal the city of Mahora with several buildings on fire. Like, literal fire! The grogginess and annoyance at the banging pots and pans now turned into utter chaos.

The three of us hurriedly changed into our school clothes and pulled out our pactio cards. I then led the two out into the hallway where a river of Class 3A mixed with other students were fighting to flee the dormitories.

It was hell trying to get out of the building because everyone was trying to get out. And as we left the girl dorms, I could see the same story with the boy dorms. The only problem was that they could only stand outside. There was no telling where anyone could run off to.

Ayaka's yells could be heard outside the crowds. "CLASS 3A OVER HERE!"

We ran towards the yelling. All of us. Professor Negi, Asuna, and Konoka were already there.

"CLASS 3A!" Professor Negi yelled. "FOLLOW ME!"

It became a running feat. Asuna running with Ayaka. Misora Kasuga and her ash brown hair in the lead with Professor Negi following behind. Didn't realize the boy could run so fast.

If only I could fly like Yuki. Then again, our future kids would probably inherit his genes and be able to fly. Can't wait to see the day when this world was filled with our superhero children.

I could see Professor Negi's staff sticking out in front of the crowd of girls. Although I managed to run faster than most of these girls thanks to Yuki, I wanted to stay beside Yue and Nodoka. They were on the slowest side, but it didn't matter.

We scattered out but were still within sight of each other. The faster of the runners eventually turned to see us and slowed down. All the way up to Professor Negi and Misora, who in turn, slowed down to join us.

"WE WILL RUN TOGETHER AS A CLASS!" Ayaka yelled. "WE WILL TAKE ON THIS NEW ENEMY TOGETHER!"

"WHAT ABOUT EVANGELINE AND CHACHAMARU?" I heard Asuna yell. "THEY'RE ABLE TO LEAVE SCHOOL GROUNDS NOW RIGHT?"

"YES!" Professor Negi yelled. "THEY'RE ASSISTING KUBO-SAN AT THE EPICENTER! RIGHT SATOMI?"

Satomi quickly answered. "THEY'RE OVER THERE ALRIGHT! YUKI'S PROBABLY FACING HIM OFF NOW!"

"WHAT WAS HIS NAME AGAIN?" Makie asked.

Natsumi quickly answered. "CEREBERUS! HE'S THE DANGEROUS ONE WHO TRIED TO TAKE YUKI AND THE GANG OUT AGES AGO!"

So much for a graduation celebration! If this was going to be our parade, this was gold. Class 3A stampeding to fight an enemy one last time. One last time we would take out this guy.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS IT!" Ako yelled.

Chizuru chimed in next. "OUR FINAL BATTLE!"

"I HAVE A FEELING THERE'LL BE MORE!" Kazumi added.

Sayo's ghost hovered over us. "MAYBE EVEN MORE BEYOND YOUR LIFETIMES!"

"I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT THAT'LL BE LIKE!" Chisame called out.

Satsuki could only think about food. "IF ONLY THESE ENEMIES TOLD US THEY'D BE COMING BEFOREHAND! I COULD HAVE COOKED!"

"WE COULD HAVE DONE A WALKTHROUGH!" Fumika Narutaki quipped.

Fuka Narutaki contradicted her. "WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO RUN LIKE KASUGA!"

"I WONDER IF I'LL GET EXPLODING BASKETBALLS FOR THIS BATTLE!" Yuna yelled.

Sakurako's mind was elsewhere. "I HOPE TO CHEER YOU ON IF THAT HAPPENS!"

"LET'S GET THIS!" Akira enthusiastically yelled. "WE CAN DO IT!"

Madoka was next. "WE GOT NO TIME TO LOSE! CHARGE!"

We ran and ran. Up the streets. Through alleys and even a park. Not the river park, but a smaller children's park. Past a playground full of people who were stampeding through.

The city was chaotic. Everyone was struggling to leave left and right like the world were about to collapse. Never in my years at Mahora Academy did I see the outer city in so much chaos. Even as a kid in elementary school.

"WE'RE COMING YUKI!" I yelled. "LET'S GO!"

Yuki:

There we were. High above a burning Mahora- or at least a small portion of it. Couple dozen buildings ablaze while the fire department and first responders tended to the situation.

Hoses spraying water on the flames and firefighters busting into burning buildings trying to rescue the people within. Police blocking the danger areas in order to keep the people safe. Some citizens were gathered outside these scenes. A few screaming as though they knew the people inside being trapped.

Nevertheless, I had to keep an eye on the starter. None other than Cereberus, or personally known to me as Kaito Salazar, the vengeful ex-employee of my parents. Speaking of which, where were they even at?

Hell, where was Haruna and the rest of the class?

Evangeline and Chachamaru flanked me from behind, ready to respond to any out of bounds attacks that inadvertently hit innocent targets.

"You didn't have to blow up all these buildings to get my attention!" I called out. "I'm here now!"

Dressed in all black starting with his trenchcoat, Kaito chuckled. "Then how would I summon you? Attacking the school? Kidnapping your girl? That's way too easy!" He then studied me from head to toe. "Kind to think of it, the last time we fought. Weren't you a girl?"

I beamed at him. "A dark wizard turned me into a man! Now you don't have to worry about breaking any rules about fighting any girls!"

Yes, we were both men after all!

Kaito's eyebrows raised as he smiled. "Well, that's something you don't hear every day! At least in our universe!"

"You'll be amazed at the way people conduct themselves over here," I quipped. "You don't need science as much to advance."

Magic replaced the need for science like the way I became Mister Yuki Kubo. Then you had Satomi who had enough science in existence to create and build Chachamaru. Chao would count, but she's already from the future. Where technology is already advanced enough.

"Well," Kaito continued, "you must hate it over here. No science by your parents in existence."

"Not really," I told him, "to be honest. You see, I'm happier over here."

"Really?" Kaito's eyebrows furrowed. "I thought you hated being stuck in another universe away from Mommy and Daddy!"

"Nope!" I replied. "I have friends here now, and they're pretty strong."

Not to also mention it was pretty hard for me to train with Setsuna and the gang. Well, not hard for me, but after a few years I appeared to be surpassing them. Which was why Eishun took over with the training. I was supposed to continue training with him.

Mana and the others had their own means of fighting, and it was of a different type than my own. I was a descendant of a band of superheroes. A carrier of their traits but due to the fact I'm several generations below the last ones, I am a lot weaker than they are.

Now there is Kaito Salazar, who obviously is a distant relative of myself. However, he seemed to have a stronger line. He may have had ancestors cross over each other more than once at one point. That was the only explanation to how tough he is now.

It must have to do with the genetics. Just like the mages were descendants of other mages in order to be mages.

"But they have a different type of strength," Kaito contradicted. "Your friends here have a different source of their powers. Especially the little girl who managed to deflect me."

All of a sudden, I began to notice several dozens of figures appear from behind him. At a far distance of nearly a mile or so away. Closing in on our position fast.

Demons.

"I think we have company!" I said, pointing in the direction of all the demons. "Our duel will have to wait unless they're with you!"

Kaito turned to look at them. "Drat! I can see the boy who escaped my clutches last time I attacked!"

"When you hid in the library?" I said. "I thought he was with you!"

"He is not! Nor were the two young women who were with him!"

Chigusa and Tsukuyomi. Speaking of which, I could make them out from here. The three of them were flying on demons. I could see them riding their subordinates. Which was pretty rare.

"I'm surprised they're not teleporting," I said. "I'm also surprised they didn't decide to infiltrate Mahora again."

"They interfered with my plans!" Kaito snarled. "What do they want!?"

Obviously, they wanted revenge. He attacked Chigusa and Tsukuyomi. As for Fate, I still couldn't get over the fact that Asuna herself managed to stop him. Couldn't even get over the fact that a demon would've helped him out.

"Revenge," I said. "But with who?"

That was the million-dollar question. Who did they want to fight? Me or him?

As they drew nearer, I lowered myself to the ground. We were in the middle of a field. Not a school field, but the open field of yet another park. It was the perfect location for a battleground. Away from any building and to avoid any possible damage.

Then again, with the amount of the demons and the strength of these people, there could be a lot of damage.

Fate, Chigusa, and Tsukuyomi followed Kaito as he too, descended to the field. Meanwhile, I noticed the entire Class 3A darting in our direction. All of them had activated their pactio cards and were ready to fight beside me. Professor Negi at the lead with Asuna, who had that same fan from last time.

All the demons descended to the ground behind the Hoganji Faction as Class 3A appeared behind me. Kaito stood at the center. Who would he be fighting besides?

Evangeline and Chachamaru flanked my sides.

"We meet again Cereberus!" the vampire yelled with a crazed look of excitement on her face. "But what do we have here? Another set of opponents!"

Fate, Chigusa, and Tsukuyomi got off their demons and stepped before them. However, Kaito didn't budge. He was rather confused at the sight of it all.

"He's definitely not with us!" Chigusa called out. "And I see that today's a battle!"

"Allow me!" Fate said, raising his hand and speaking something only a mage would speak. I cannot understand a bit of what he was saying. All I knew was that I had to scram.

"EVERYONE OUT OF THE WAY!" Professor Negi warned as Chachamaru grabbed my arm and Evangeline followed.

KABOOM!

Smoke filled the area and it was hard to see anything for several seconds. However, when the smoke cleared, we were in for a rather unsettling sight. There was now a crater where Kaito stood, and he was no longer there. Merely fragments of his trench coat. With all the sides singed.

Fate just annihilated him. I could hardly help but to stare at the sight in shock. Kaito Salazar was atomized on the spot!

"Holy shit!" I exclaimed.

Haruna:

I stood along with the rest of the class, using my drawing board to create enough characters to stop these demons in their tracks. While both sides were busy gawking at what Fate had just done, I had to use this time. Yuki and I used to talk about taking advantage of these moments.

Must have been something Setsuna, Mana, Kaede, and Ku Fei taught him. Before he surpassed all of them with his superhero skills over the years. Now look at him! He's fighting alongside Evangeline!

But I couldn't let him take on these guys alone. These weren't even his guys to fight to begin with!

"Why are we even here?" Tsukuyomi called out. "And Fate, why did you recruit several demons?"

"Traveling here was a waste!" Chigusa added. "We really have no reason to be dueling at this point."

"I overestimated the requirements to avenge the two of you," Fate said. "Demons, you are dismissed!"

They all disappeared one by one, much to my surprise.

"If you'll excuse me," Tsukuyomi said, "I have another engagement to attend to."

"Weren't they originally after me?" Konoka hissed. "Secchan?"

Setsuna maintained her guard. "Aside from that display, I don't know what they want."

"I shall leave as well!" Chigusa added. "We're all for fighting, but not today! Until then!"

She too, vanished.

Fate looked around at all of us, blushing. He then looked at Yuki and bowed. "As much as I'd like to duel, you're not my enemy. That mage is!" He pointed at Professor Negi. "Also, my mission here is complete. Until then!"

He disappeared, and all of us fell. Feet straight up.
