Many years later...

Steven was standing in front of the Rose Statue in the fountain. He shook his head sadly looking at it.

"You left a ton of problems for everyone. And there was so much pain and damage too. Mom... I wish you could see how everything has changed. The Diamonds would have accepted you for who you are." said Steven.

"I knew I'd find you here." said Connie, Steven's girlfriend. She walked up to him and held his hand.

"I remember when I was a boy, I used to look up to her. I heard stories about her all the time from Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst. They say she was graceful, and very loving. But after learning about her, my perspective changed." said Steven.

"Your mother meant well, but she had her demons. We all have them." said Connie as she placed her hand on the statue.

"She was never bad. But remember, she came from an abusive place. And her life was never that happy." said Connie.

"Connie, I know this is not the most ideal setting, but I have something for you." said Steven.

Connie looked at him and smiled warmly as Steven fell on one knee.

"I know I asked you this years ago. But you have been my friend for a long time. We have been through hell and high water together and I know you endured so much for my sake and for my family. Connie... will you marry me?" asked Steven.

Connie began to cry and nodded. "Yes." she replied.

Both Steven and Connie then embraced one another and they shared a kiss.

The statue of Rose simply stood there, and for an instant, Connie would have sworn that she looked as if she was watching upon them with a smile.
